I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

Nap Grin

MyNameIsKenAdams · 28/12/2013 13:55

Id start properly now too.but am home alone with dd on NYE and have a bottle of.Prosecco.and a Camembert earmarked. Will eat sensibly that day aside from that though.

GimmeDaBoobehz · 28/12/2013 13:58

I could do with losing 30lbs which is about 2 and a bit stone, I think.

I am hoping to lose half a pound a week so I think that will add up to 26lbs lost in a year, which sounds like a good goal to me.

I hope I can keep up with it. If I do more than that a week, it's a bonus. I think if I lost 52lb I'd be nearly underweight (11st 3 atm and just over 5ft).

BehindLockNumberNine · 28/12/2013 13:58

I started today too. No point in putting it off. We have a late Christmas celebration planned with the in-laws on Monday but I can eat sensibly, drink sensibly and resist pudding (fingers crossed)

And I have a party to attend on the 3rd. Will need to be strong and resist, resist, resist...

Help!

ricericebaby · 28/12/2013 14:03

Grin nap sounds good!

Behind Eat before you go if possible. Will hopefully stop you nibbling mindlessly.

BehindLockNumberNine · 28/12/2013 14:06

That's a good idea.

The party starts at 6.30. So will fill up on soup or something similarly healthy and filling. My plan is to volunteer to be designated driver so I am forced to pass on the alcohol. I will bring with me a huge bottle of fizzy water and a lemon, will drink that all night.

Must. Stay. Strong!

butterfliesinmytummy · 28/12/2013 14:24

Me please! I moved to Texas last summer and have gained a stone Hmm. I'm on holiday at a hotel til 2nd January, then I'll be on mfp for the rest of the year, also cutting out sugar. My username is exitthruthegiftshop, feel free to add me!

butterfliesinmytummy · 28/12/2013 14:27

Oh and dh bought me new scales for Xmas. I did ask for them but he thought it would be better if they were officially from the kids to both of us ( he's going to be on mfp too). It's the aria wifi scales, think they link to mfp automatically, anyone else tried these?

WoodBurnerBabe · 28/12/2013 14:28

butterflies have added you. Have escaped from the general melee downstairs to "put the baby to sleep" Grin. Surprise is, she's actually nodded off! So I might manage 15min uninterrupted MN'ing before anyone noticed I should be painting nails (DD and DNeice) or building Lego (DS and BIL!)

WoodBurnerBabe · 28/12/2013 14:29

Wifi scales sound very Big Brother!

MotherGirth · 28/12/2013 14:37

Very impressed with those starting now. There's no way I could.

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 28/12/2013 14:53

Duchess, would love to - how do I find you all? (Don't want to post my username on here)

Have been for a run slow and sporadic puff around the neighbourhood, so that's a start. And I weighed myself - 13 stone 1. I got down to 12'8 in the autumn, so yes, around half a stone has gone back on - that's not too bad.
Aiming for 11 stone (top of my 'healthy' range).

WoodBurnerBabe · 28/12/2013 15:17

If you look for one of the usernames up thread and add them, you should then be able to see who they've become friends with in the last few days - and add them as well you can send a message when you add people so you can give your MN name in that.

If you can't see where to add by user name, it's the same bit where you add by email - just put the user name in the 'email' box and it will work.

ForeverForever · 28/12/2013 15:27

I'm registered on MFP but never used it!

What can 'friends' see?

I'm going to take this seriously so will try to add you all on it if that's ok?

ForeverForever · 28/12/2013 15:32

Ignore my question - I've just read the FAQs on MFP. Answer is not a lot, by default.

WoodBurnerBabe · 28/12/2013 15:32

It's a bit like Facebook. You can hide whatever you want, but you can post status updates, post exercise, weight loss etc - it's just more geared to healthy living and weight loss that Facebook.

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 28/12/2013 15:35

Thanks Woodburner - think I have sent a friend request to Duchess. If she approves me I should appear on her list with a name including the word 'somewhere' Grin

WoodBurnerBabe · 28/12/2013 15:37

When she's added you, you'll see mine on her friends list - end _girl

All my friends are people from this thread so that should help you!

ForeverForever · 28/12/2013 15:39

Thanks wood burner, have started working my way through the thread.

moominleigh94 · 28/12/2013 15:45

I want to do this, but there's not much point in me joining till the start of May (baby's due end of April and then the weight loss hopefully begins!) so I'll hopefully be looking at dropping maybe 40lbs over the year if it's 1lb/week.

Starting several different aqua classes in the next couple of weeks to get me geared up as well as swimming as many times a week as possible, and then after the baby I'll be doing the higher-impact aqua classes. Also looking at starting Boxfit and yoga fusion after April too :) I have full gym membership but have to time it around uni!

With regards to eating I struggle with food, I love fruit but probably eat way too much of it, and I'm a white carb fiend. Not so much a chocolate/cake/pudding person, but I love pasta, rice, white bread etc so trying to change to brown/wholemeal will be the biggest difficulty for me. I've got gallbladder issues so I could do with cutting down on the amount of fatty foods I eat, and gluten triggers the issues with my adhesions (had major surgery as a baby) so this can only be a good thing!

Just posting now to mark my place so I can keep track of this and later threads, ready to start in early May :)

DuchessFanny · 28/12/2013 15:53

I'm rolph75 and you'll find new friends I've added within the last day - it's great, already feel pretty motivated and excited about it !

BigWellyLittleWelly · 28/12/2013 16:35

Will be back but my mfp is Gumble78

After two dc and a desk job I'm at least 3 stone over a healthy weight. We need to cut costs this year (I'm not earning enough to cover childcare and DH redundant from March) and so portion control will be a key part of my diet.

If I can loose half the weight by July all the better! I love low carbing but impossible when breastfeeding as it affects my milk supply.

SoThisisMe · 28/12/2013 16:48

Jumping in too if I may. Need to lose 5st. Tried so many times but always give up. Hoping support on here will make a difference!

Will prob do SW but not actually going to group, I know the plan well enough and need to save money where ever I can. Might join mfp also.

Aiming to start on the 4th or 5th as have family visiting until then.

roosterroo · 28/12/2013 16:56

Can I join too? I have weighed myself at a horrific 12st 6lb i am busy reading all the 5:2 stuff. I would like to lose around 2 stone.
Just been back to myfp name is brereton2 if anyone wants to add me.
Hoping for the motivation to keep going ds1 is 14!
Has anyone started couch 2 5 k?

didireallysaythat · 28/12/2013 17:26
