I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

And this time next year you'll be lean and mean.

Somebody asked for a TDEE calculator .....

LittleBonnie · 01/01/2014 21:26

I'm joining you! Had my first day today and am so craving stodgy or sweet food! Have been really good though, if only every day could be like this.
Am totally giving up alcohol for the month of Jan, plus trying to stay as close to 1000 cals per day as my willpower can stand! I'm 5'7 and think about 13 and a half stone but too scared to weigh myself yet as will make me depressed! Will weigh Monday.

emmief77 · 01/01/2014 21:33

talkinpeace more Flowers - do you recommend the 5:2? - i love my carbs, not sure I can follow it - just worked out my TDEE Shock Shock

TalkinPeace · 01/01/2014 21:37

Emmie
I love 5:2
I love carbs
it does not suit all people but I love it
there are lots of TDEE calculators - I just knew where that one was!

emmief77 · 01/01/2014 21:46

talkinpeace - by coincidence I had googled TDEE calculator and it brought up that website Smile

DearPrudence · 01/01/2014 21:53

Thanks to this thread I've already tackled the scales and faced the full horror (1.5 stone added in last 3 months of last year, making me more than 4 stone overweight Sad) rather than waiting until next Monday.

But I've already started cutting back, and have re-signed up to MFP. If anyone wants to be my friend I'm MsDearPrudence. Not really sure how all that works yet but I'll figure it out.

WoodBurnerBabe · 01/01/2014 22:12

Got dragged to pub against my will managed to stick to 2 glasses, but succumbed to chocolate. However, my good eating habits during the day mean I'm only 120 odd calories over for the day. Which I'm quite pleased about!

BigWellyLittleWelly · 01/01/2014 22:44

I ate the last of my Christmas liquor chocolates today, the Christmas cake was finished, all the snacky bits from Christmas are now eaten or frozen and the last bottle of Baileys is hidden away.

I've planned a month of meals, I've also.got two A4 pages of healthy lunch ideas for when I return to work next week. I've cleared out my sewing box so I can sit and needle of an evening, I've also made a start on important paperwork.

I also gave up wearing my maternity pyjamas this evening as they are too tight. Embarrassing. mothergirth I discovered that same slab around my middle today, in the space of a.year I've gone from a size 10 to a size 16/18. And it sucks.

MyNameIsKenAdams · 01/01/2014 23:00

Erm.....tmi...but..... is anyone else who has been healthy eating for a good few days pooping more?

candylicious · 01/01/2014 23:19

I've only joined on here today but I'm eager to be 'encouraged' by you all. I've been really stressed lately and can see the weight loss starting already so really want to make the most out of a bad thing. My main aim is to cut down my alcohol intake and drink more water, I can go some days with 1 drink at work all day, not good for me!

I'm on MFP as Proudpeace, feel free to add me Grin

Twirlbitesruinedmylife · 02/01/2014 00:01

Hi, I'd like to join.
Weighed myself this morning at 13s4 and 52 pounds would be a good target.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 02/01/2014 00:43

KenAdams, I like to think of it as all the christmas crap finally being pushed out Grin

Aim for tomorrow is to drink as much water as I can. Noticed today that the only fluid I had all day was 3 cups of tea and a glass of diet cork with my dinner.
Awful!!

WoodBurnerBabe · 02/01/2014 07:25

Diet cork sounds pretty awful, I must say!

Been up since 5.20. Made soup. Not managed to not have breakfast, but I did limit myself to 2 boiled eggs, no toast, so a good healthy start to the day.

Beechview · 02/01/2014 08:17

I'm starting today. I'm using mfp and am aiming for around 1350 calories a day. I've looked at my TDEE and I think that's a good start for me. I'm allowing one meal a week where I can 'eat what I want' ie eating out or a take away but still making good choices.

I'm really fed up of being fat and unhealthy and the restrictions (mostly mental but also due to a lack of energy) that it puts on my life. It affects everything - my confidence, my moods, my relationships, my social life and my general enjoyment of life.

I'm really looking forward to sorting all this out. I'm going to be really busy from next week so I'm hoping that will help too as I'll have less time to snack and will have to be more organised with meals.

I'm going to meal plan today then go and shop for the week.

MotherGirth · 02/01/2014 08:38

Fasting today. Just drunk two mugs of hot water and lemon and feeling pretty determined so far ... but it's only just after 8:30!

I'm having egg on toast and a couple of clementines for tea. I seem to remember Michael Moseley suggesting no carby stuff on fast days but I feel like I'll need the energy for spinning later.

CecyHall · 02/01/2014 09:19

Day 1 and feeling positive! Although my breakfast avocado was not ripe enough which was annoying (especially as it was only 10p for quick sale yesterday so I thought it would be the other way)

Salt beef salad for lunch and roast chicken for tea, looking forward to it.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 02/01/2014 09:39

Diet cork?! Diet coke!! Grin

I've only just woken! Dd stayed with grandparents last night and I ended up until almost 2am watching lots of catch up tv!

Just going to have something to drink then heading out for run/brisk walk then home to do some squats etc

DearPrudence · 02/01/2014 09:54

Having lunch at my sister's today but she will do something healthy. Need to think of a healthy tea. Maybe spaghetti bolognese packed with veg.

Loads of water is a good idea. Going to have a pint right now.

BigWellyLittleWelly · 02/01/2014 09:58

Tiredness is a major factor. I drank too much black coffee yesterday with the fairly predictable result I was awake until 2am.

Gave me plenty of time to analyse my fakebook and see it filled with people's high expectations for 2014 and their round ups of 2013 - putting this weight on was easy, getting rid of it is going to be a long hard slog I suspect.

So, any tips to brighten mood and cope with tiredness while changing comfort eating habits of the last year would be much appreciated.

bobblypop · 02/01/2014 10:02

ended up being a bad day yesterday. Did manage to run, but then ate loads as had New Years Day dinner with pudding and wine and sort of went downhill from there...
BUT starting properly today. Feeling good that I at least seem to have got myself motivated to exercise again but I REALLY need to get a grip on my eating now.
Weetabix and half a banana for brekkie, now not eating again till lunch.

emmief77 · 02/01/2014 10:25

Been over to join the lovely people on the 5:2 thread, having shocked myself with my weigh in yesterday, am keen to get started... Very embarrassed to share with you have hardly any veggies in the house Blush Blush.... I have really let things go, need to get myself food shopping but DD still in bed (pre-teen)!

MotherGirth · 02/01/2014 11:32

I'm finding the fast tedious today, and I'm cold. But I prefer the idea of eating normally on the other days than limiting myself every single day. I have family movie and pizza night planned for Saturday, and a roast beef dinner on Sunday -all MFPd of course!
