20lbs lighter by Christmas Day, anyone?

notagiraffe · 21/10/2013 14:18

Hi
Got weighed at weekend in one of those places where you can't shift your toes around on the scale to lose half a stone. Bit of a shock. Does anyone want to join me to be 20lb lighter by Christmas?

That's only 2lb a week. We can do it.

Height: 5'4"
Start weight on 21st October: 159lb
Goal Weight on Christmas Day: 139lb

Food Plan: no sugar or processed foods, lots of water, lots of veg and lean protein. Alcohol free on weekdays

Exercise Plan: Daily Shred plus what I already do (fitness class and walks)

Anyone want to join in and add plans, tips, motivators, anything at all to get us there by Christmas Day?

hi everyone and welcome.

joni do you want to join those of us who are cutting out alcohol, all sugar and processed foods? We're increasing fresh veg and drinking masses more water, and logging what we eat on My Fitness Pal. Aim for 1200-1500 cals per day depending on how much exercise you do and it'll drop off.

Yes. That's the most sensible way to do it I suppose. I hope it isn't too hard!

CrystalDeCanter · 21/10/2013 22:34

Ooh hello can I join too? I'm 5'2" and 62.5kg, sorry will attempt to convert to lbs, I'd like to be 55kgs but would be happy with 58. I'm doing 5:2 but also need to cut out alcohol and all snacks/junk food and up the veggies & protein.

I'm also starting c25k today! And yesterday I dusted off my bike and rode my first 10ks in about 25 years.

Hurrah hurrah for a slim Christmas all round.

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 21/10/2013 22:40

First day and I've done okay with food. Had a filet of Indian spiced fish that I pan fried with a little olive oil for supper along with a huge plate of steamed broccoli and green beans. Resisted the Roses tin time that was going round the family twice today so yaay to me! :) Chocolate is my biggest down fall so every time I resist a bit, I'm a stronger woman. Well, kinda.. Hmm

Haven't done any workout today but I will not waver on my very first day and I'm off to do 30DS and hopefully a little brisk walk on the treadmill after that. If I can do 15 mins, I'll be happy.

I've realised that for me, just improving my food choices works but it's very slow. Combing healthy eating with daily excercise is what works best. I'm just reminding myself so I know how important it is.

5madthings · 21/10/2013 22:48

62kg is 136lb :)

HenD19 · 21/10/2013 22:49

Would love to do this but seem to sign up then run the other way!!

I'll add my stats over next day or so and try very hard.

MFP will be my friend!!

Mrspebble · 21/10/2013 23:18

Hello

Would love to join in.. Hope we all do well.
I have a five week old baby and have lost a good bit of weight but am still too heavy at 175 lbs. I would love to fit into my nice dresses and wear nice underwear again.

Today I didn't get out with the pram as weather was shocking so did some exercise at home then when dh got in I went for a brisk thirty min walk. Had a section so can't do shred.

I ate fruit for breakfast, salad with low fat cheese, beetroot, rocket etc. then 60gm portion spaghetti and low fat steak mince bolognese .. Few tablespoons. Mandarins and custard made with skim milk. Three coffees with sugar. Need to ditch those.

CurseOfCurves89 · 21/10/2013 23:25

Hiya, can I join in too?
I'm 5ft2 and 155lbs. Lost 30lbs since May but I've hit a wall and need a but extra motivation

I need to push myself harder with exercise and eat more veggies and protein and less sugar.

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 21/10/2013 23:57

I just did the Shred. And then an additional 20 mins of a cardio workout from Fitness Blender. It's almost 11pm now but I fit it in and I'm pleased I've got off to an acceptable start.

My goal is to do a 60 min workout everyday with a one day rest each week. 25 mins will be the Shred so I'll alternate and do different things for the remaining 35 mins. If I ever miss a day I'll do double the day after.

Wesdly · 22/10/2013 00:15

I think I could do with joining this. Managed to get down to about 140lbs around March but since then its crept back up and I'm at about 160lbs again, this sounds perfect.

I don't really know how I can alter my diet, it is pretty much limited to fruit, veg and meat but I can cut out sugar and drink a lot more water which will help a lot.

I also need to start going for a run regularly, I can go every day this week so I'm going to make the most of it. Luckily I quite enjoy it and don't mind having to go out in the rain.

I would love to get back down to 10st, I felt so much happier and confident. Hopefully I can get there again.

CrystalDeCanter · 22/10/2013 04:37

Thanks tmadthings for converting my kgs to llbs. I've checked my iphone and I need to lose 16.5lbs. Jesus.

I ate practically nothing yesterday on the 5:2 plan and am planning on doing the same today - have had a bowl of museli this morning as was about to keel over with starvation.

I went on a bike ride last night (first one for about 30 years) and started the C25K today in my lunch hour at work. I am feeling SO virtuous.

MrsPebble congratulations on your new baby. Don't rush the weight loss will you, your baby is still very new and lots might just fall off in the next few weeks. You will need lots of energy for looking after your tiny new person. I always like to think 9 months up, 9 months down. But then my youngest is now 6yrs and I still need to lose those last llbs. Blush

CrystalDeCanter · 22/10/2013 04:51

Oh arse. I've just worked out my BMI and I'm bloody well overweight for the first time in my life.

CrystalDeCanter · 22/10/2013 04:54

I mean, I knew I was overweight, just don't like having it officially confirmed.

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 22/10/2013 09:09

CrystalDecanter why are you doing two consecutive days of fasting? Starvation is not good. A 24 hour period is maximum for the 5:2 plan. You're not going to lose any more weight by extending your fast too long.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 22/10/2013 09:11

I've weighed in.

I'm 184lbs (sob)
I'm 5ft 6.

Plan: cold turkey on all forms of diet coke, Pepsi max, etc. Drink more water. Eat more vegetables. Stop evening boredom snacking.

Exercise: I've got a chest infection at the moment so would struggle to exercise unless anyone could recommend something? Otherwise shredding and hopefully C25K when better.

bigwellylittlewelly · 22/10/2013 09:18

Hi - was looking over some photos taken last year when I vividly remember feeling overweight and I was three stone lighter than I am now. Admittedly I have had a baby (now 4 months) but just to shed the bloating world be awesome.

So I'll weigh myself in a bit.

notagiraffe · 22/10/2013 09:24

Crystal, I really hope you don't mind me asking, because I'm no expert, but isn't 2 fasting days in a row with lots of exercise more likely to lead to you crashing and bingeing? Maybe you have a will of iron, but we want you to stay with us until Christmas day.

NoCarbs we need to give you some serious motivation. What do you want to be wearing at Christmas? I want to look toned in size 10 jeans and a chunky sweater, instead of looking like a prize heffer. And I want to wear a red dress that looks good from behind.

Post your Christmas clothes here as inspiration!

I have a hill run planned for this morning with the DC. Yikes. May not shred on top of that.

PeteCambell- you could do some spot toning - lie on floor and do side leg lifts etc - some of those small, deep-muscle exercises are very effective but don't need aerobic energy so won't leave you breathless. Or you could try some gentle yoga to stretch out those muscles and make them long and lean.

Oo can i waddle in Grin

5"6 13 an a half stone ( don't know lbs) size 16

I have an 18 week old and a 6 year old. Baby weight fell off with my dc1 but im not so lucky this time round, i am bigger now then when i was pregnant Hmm

I am very active, running after 2 boys, work pt in a job as a chef so dont stop.

Even though i work with food i am at a loss as to where to start with dieting. I need very quick easy and cheap meals? Other than living on salad, any ideas?

gettingonmyownnerves · 22/10/2013 09:49

Wow, great to see this thread so busy. Hopefully we can keep each other motivated.
I managed to get up early and do some exercise before the dcs woke, and had boiled egg & toast for breakfast (instead of the two hot cross buns I'd been buying on the way to work Blush).
Going to try to drink loads of water today but my biggest challenge will be staying away from the chocolate in work.

Mckayz · 22/10/2013 09:53

I am doing 5:2 and I am going to do Monday and Wednesday. But going to stick to healthy eating on my non fast days.

A friend was doing it and still ate the same on her non fast days and didn't lose much.

Though I am about to do a chocolatier course, not sure how good that will be for the diet. Maybe I will become sick of the sight of chocolate!

Mckayz · 22/10/2013 09:55

What do you drink if you hate water? I really hate it, have never drunk it. My Mum says she had many battles with me as a child as I refused water and started to refuse milk at about 18 months.
Still hate milk now too, and don't like squash except for ribena.

I don't drink much during the day which I am sure isn't good for you.

CurseOfCurves89 · 22/10/2013 10:09

I drink loads of flavoured water. Dunno if it's as good for you as regular water but it's better than fizzy drinks I'd imagine.
