Morning all Smile

Hope you are feeling better today Debs I always use having a cold as an excuse to eat - after all aren't you meant to feed a cold?!

Hope everyone has a good day - especially those having a 'fresh start' day Smile

I have the opportunity of a babysitter for a rare night out with DP in the next couple of weeks - we've been out together 3 times in the 3 years since DC were born Shock Sad. Is it really bad that I'm trying to change it from a Tuesday night so that it isn't weigh in day next morning so I can really pig out enjoy my food without worrying about the scales? Grin

HerdyHerdwick · 28/09/2013 10:29

Hen - families huh? Tactless and thoughtless but probably not intended to be cruel to you, although I do understand how awful you must have felt.
How are you feeling now?

I've got not much to report, struggling a bit with food. I live alone and find it hard to motivate myself to eat properly when I'm at home. Of course not preparing a decent meal leads to poor choices later. I'll leave it at that for now Grin

Have a good weekend everyone.

MiaWallace · 28/09/2013 18:12

arrgh! Wish I had the willpower to get through a weekend.

Messed up again this weekend.

Fresh start tomorrow.

Lorelai · 28/09/2013 20:05

Spent the day at legoland today, fab day, and not too bad foodwise (although I did eat some chips), but am shattered now. DH is cooking dinner and I am to tired to care how healthy or not it will be.

Madamemyway · 29/09/2013 09:14

Hello. Think I have found the diet thread for me! I currently weigh 15stone and my body is complaining and telling me to get my act together and lose weight, been putting it off but can't any longer really.
I have decided to get myself sorted so I can eat kess crap and do more healthy snacking! I have an under active thyroid which makes it harder to lose weight, I take thyroxine so don't want to be doing anything very low calorie or the fasting one as don't think this would help me but if anyone has experience of this then please tell me as a bit confused about it.
I have children and so do have unhealthy type snacks around, think they might find themselves eating more healthy too!

HenriettaPye · 29/09/2013 09:22

Welcome Madame! You are in good company here, I'm currently 16st 9, want to lose at least 6 stone!!

Sorry I've been quiet folks, busy busy! Mum and dad are away for the weekend so I'm looking after my much younger brothers and sister (14, twins are 12 and a 10yo.) add my two kids into the mix and my house is chaos!!!GrinGrin

Sorry I've been AWOL. Ds2 is being the amazing non sleeping baby and I don't cope we'll with sleep deprivation. I will be happy to sts this week tbh.

Although had a NSV of mil telling me I'd lost loads of weight and well done (?!) like it makes me a better person or something. I mean I am proud of myself but I don't really feel its something worth praise exactly.

Oh and I took a minute off my personal best 5k time this week so I can now run 5k in 27mins 15 seconds! :)

IsThatTrue · 29/09/2013 10:46

Oh and welcome Madame!

I started on 24th June at 14stone1 just stopping snacking, drinking more water and reducing my carb portions. I recently started the 5:2 but I'm doing that mainly for the health benefits rather than the weight loss. I'm now 11stone5. Good luck!

LittleRobots · 29/09/2013 11:00

I'm really struggling with snacking at the moment. And there was a bag of hula hoops in the cupboard and I ate two packets one day and three the next. In a sort of addicted frenzy. Grr grr.

Debs75 · 29/09/2013 11:01

Still feeling rough with no energy but better then Friday. Lots of herbal tea and I made enough butternut squash soup yesterday to last me a fortnight. I have had to freeze some there is that much.

Doing a filling and healthy week this week so lots of porridge for breakfast, soup for dinner and some meat with loads of veg for tea. The only snacks I will have are fruit. It should do the weight loss some good and boost up my immune system after this crappy cold

HerdyHerdwick · 29/09/2013 11:51

Welcome madame.

My little update is about me and wheat. I've mentioned that I think I have issues with it. I don't think I have coeliac disease. Bought a 'healthy' multi grain wholemeal loaf on Friday. I had two slices of it and yesterday I was in agony with IBS symptoms and just feeling general knackered and awful.
I'm going to try to cut it out for a while and see if I feel any better. If I eat bread or pasta I notice my stomach bloats so much that my waistbands start to really dig in, and this happens quite soon after eating it.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good weekend, and to my fellow strugglers, let's not give up!

MissElodie · 29/09/2013 12:18

Hi madame welcome to the thread - I'm glad you've found us! I too have an under active thyroid - I only found out 7 weeks ago which was the same time I started this diet. I've been taking thyroxin since then and have just had my dose increased to 100mg. How long have you been on it for - are you finding it has helped?

I weighed 16st 9 at the start and have lost 13lb so far. I'm calorie counting using MFP but I haven't gone for a really restricted allowance as I know that won't work for me. ATM my allowance is 1700 and I will reduce it as I lose more weight. Are there implication of doing a low calorie diet or 5:2 while taking thyroxin? I don't really know too much about it tbh and am still waiting for the new lease of life and energy boost the GP promised me when I started taking them! Smile

Gosh Henrietta you've got your hands full - I bet you're exhausted!

Isthat my baby has decided she doesn't want to sleep anymore either Sad. Her daytime naps have gone from 2 hours on a good day to 20 mins if I'm lucky Shock and she's waking in the night too - argh!! Its not good, tiredness makes me just want to eat sugary carbs!

IsThatTrue · 29/09/2013 12:49

That's it exactly misselodie when I'm tired I crave carbs and cba to make healthy stuff either. It's not good. DS still wakes 4x a night and is barely napping atm. He's 10mo next week. How old is your dd?

MiaWallace · 29/09/2013 12:55

Feeling awful today. I have got my first period in three years. Didn't have any during the time I had my implant. Feel like mother nature is paying me back for cheating her for so long.

Having terrible stomach cramps and craving anything sweet. I don't really have a sweet tooth and normally can easily resist chocolate and cakes (do like to indulge in the odd jam doughnut though) but all I want to eat at the moment is chocolate and ice cream.

Going to allow myself what I want today, purely for medicinal reasons of course Wink.

Big welcome to madame

MissElodie · 29/09/2013 13:20

DD is almost 9 months. She is sooo cranky too because she's so tired so WHY won't she just sleep?!! Hopefully it will be a phase which they'll go through soon and we will just have to be strong in resisting the bad stuff - or at least as strong as we can be!! Wink

Oh dear Mia poor you....I think under the circumstances having chocolate may be essential for the benefit of your health and well being Grin. I hope it improves soon.

MatJas · 29/09/2013 14:50

Can I join please I have almost 3 stones to lose, have started scottish slimmers, am 40 in December so would like to lose at least 1 stone by then, I also have an underactive thyroid so have struggled with weight loss and get so demotivated when I don't lose much and just end up eating more because its depressing to work so hard and then on weigh in day only lose 1/2lb or none. Hoping this thread will help keep me away from the sweet tin x

Madamemyway · 29/09/2013 16:16

Thank you for the welcomes :)
Misselodie I have been on thyroxine for 2 years now and recently had my dosage doubled from 50 to 100 mg which has helped don't feel cold all the time and am less tired but do find my energy levels aren't great so hoping losing some weight will help with this.
Wow Isthatrrue that is a great result, hope I can do something similar, have tried lots of diets but this time I am doing it my way and hoping not to get too hung up on it all and end up self sabotaging which has happened a lot in the past!

MissElodie · 29/09/2013 16:31

Welcome MatJas I've done Scottish Slimmers in the past - many many moons ago and I lost weight with it just ended up putting it all and more back on. I can't quite remember now is it a points based system like WW?

madame I'm hoping I won't feel as tired as well now my dosage has increased although I know a lot of it is due to my weight - I'm not surprised I've got no energy carting around this extra 6 stone all the time Shock

IsThatTrue · 29/09/2013 16:35

madame I have also started running which I think has aided the weight loss. But I think I would have got the same results without the running just it may have taken longer.

Reastie · 29/09/2013 18:21

Just popping in so you know I'm still alive :) It's that bargain thread keeping me so busy!

Was due to do workout today but periody cramps and chickened out . Any excuse Blush . Where's my willpower gone?!

phantomhairpuller · 29/09/2013 18:29

I discovered your bargain thread yesterday reastie- fair play you're a genius WinkGrin

Debs75 · 29/09/2013 22:11

Had a good day food wiseSmile
Crap day exercising. Only done about 2000 steps.Sad

Start the week as I mean to go on and am looking for a loss next week. I need to be good as I am taking DP to Pizza Hut for his birthday in 4 weeks. I could be good and have a legarro pizza and tons of salad but I want a pudding and to eat whatever I like so it is soup for the next few weeks for me

TiredNursey · 30/09/2013 13:58

Eeek, Deb, you will go insane and probably fall off the wagon if you only eat soup for a month.

It's one day. Try and eat healthly up til then, and have what you want on that day. Then get back on track.
I have not done too badly over the last week. We had 3 days in Disneyland Paris, and all the croissants you could eat . I had a couple of unhelathy treats but didnt go mad like I normally do, and took as many of the healthy options as I could.
There were of course the croissants at breakfast, but I had fruit too and one day there was popcorn!
We'll see what happens when I weigh in on Wednesday, but clothes arent any tighter.

BirdingWidow · 30/09/2013 18:56

This thread has been quite quiet - hope everyone is doing okay! Maybe you are all on Reastie's bargain thread like me. I have had a fair weekend after letting my hair down on Friday. Hoping to see a loss on Wednesday - fingers crossed.

I had a meeting with a recruitment consultant today so had to get dressed up in work clothes. It was actually really nice to put a smart jacket on. I am eyeing up various suits etc in my wardrobe that I haven't worn for a while and hoping I can get back into them this winter (need to lose another 7-14 lbs though, I reckon). Still, better than buying new and a good motivation for the next couple of months. also hoping I get a job and need said suits

I haven't seen any motivations posted on here for a while - has anyone got any to gee us all along?

GirlsonFilm · 30/09/2013 19:38

Can I join, 15 '12" as of last Thursday. I want to lose 5 stone by May 2015 (but the sooner the better) my body is telling me it's time to lose weight. I've done WW loads of times and my best loss was 5st which I kept off for a few years. Don't think I'll have lost anything on Wednesday (as a reaction to weighing more than I thought last week I, of course, have eaten loads). But finding this thread has spurred me on to do something.
