Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

I could eat 14 crunchies.

HenriettaPye · 23/09/2013 09:58

I could eat 15 Creme eggs Wink

I've eaten whole packets of biscuits in one sitting. It makes me feel sick thinking about it now. Great info henrietta thanks

Fast day today. Finding it hard as only had 5 hrs sleep last night and DS is teething. Just gotta work out what to make for dinner, there's hardly any food in the house, must go shopping tomorrow.

LegoAcupuncture · 23/09/2013 10:20

I could quite happily eat the 9 mcdonalds cheeseburgers. I'd wash it down with a diet coke though, just to negate the calories Grin

I think my teeth would melt if I ate 15 creme eggs.

Sirzy · 23/09/2013 11:02

first go at couch to 5k done :) I can still breathe which has to be a good sign!

clarinetV2 · 23/09/2013 11:21

Haha, as someone who frequently used to munch through whole packets of digestives (they are very addictive) I love the list, Henrietta - and I could easily do the Hovis bread or the cornettos. Well, in the old days, that was. Never again!

What a difference a week makes. Last Monday I was despondent after a weekend's binging. So on Saturday I took the advice of various quiche-ers and planned a treat for myself, within my week's calorie allowance, and it worked fine - no cravings. And yesterday I went for a lovely long walk. About 14 miles with about 1500 feet of hills to climb. Bear in mind that one of the things that got me started on my current weight loss effort was that I could no longer do much walking, and last year I would have struggled to do a walk half the length and a third of the climb. I had a fantastic day, and decided I could afford, after all that exertion, to stop off at Sainsburys on the way home and buy another treat. I considered the options carefully. Bakery or confectionery, I know the contents of those aisles very well, and I visualised all the treats I could choose from. And then I found I was so full of sunshine, fresh air, lovely views, health and life that I didn't want any high-carb, high-sugar, high-fat treats. But I was hungry, so I had a little extra rice, a little extra sauce and a lot of extra veg with my spicy salmon for dinner, and finished it all off with a huge bowl of fruit salad.

All I need now is for the weather to stay like this for the rest of my life, and keeping the weight off will be a doddle.

HenriettaPye · 23/09/2013 11:27

Well done Sirzy and clarinet! And that's a fantastic food choice clarinet, really impressed you didn't go for something from the bakery or confectionary aisle. I'm glad you are here to keep us all on track Smile

Fantastic clarinet.

I am just about to have a bowl of homemade soup. Figured with school runs I have done over 4 miles walk/running today and half an hour wii fit

IsaacCox · 23/09/2013 12:37

Massive well done Sirzy and Clarinet :)

I've just got back from town where there are many bakery's, food shops, sweet shops etc and I walked straight past them all. Then I went to Morrisons and filled a small trolley with healthy stuff. Loads of vegetables, fruits etc. There was a whole aisle full of Christmas food which I'll admit I looked at, thought 'hmm' then carried on walking :) Plus then I had about a 15 minute walk to the bus stop home, with the heavy bags was a good workout! Grin

I think I'm back in the zone now thanks to you lot Grin I had bran flakes, milk and honey for breakfast, about to have a boiled egg salad for lunch and maybe a yogurt then a chicken stir fry for dinner. Will also do either the 30 day shred or go for a walk later on.

LayMizzRarb · 23/09/2013 13:01

French fries crisps are my saviour. 2 WW pp per bag. They satisfy my crisp craving. I could probably eat about 10 bags in one go Shock.
My other quick fix is a corn cob, hot and sprinkled with that new oxo shake & flavour roast beef sprinkles. Quite 'cheap' points wise (2pp), and it takes a while to eat.

HenriettaPye · 23/09/2013 14:00

Aaaaagghhhhhhhh

So rang up chasing my scan to see where this missing mirena coil is and was told that the earliest I could be seen is JANUARY!!! So fucking pissed off right now. Angry

OP posts:
Sirzy · 23/09/2013 14:01

Thats rediculous!!

Debs75 · 23/09/2013 14:14

That is a great food list Henrietta a girl at WW told us she demolishes choc digestives if she is near them. I will admit it made me go buy some. I had a couple yesterday and they were ok. If I resist them with tea then I don't eat as many. From that list I think I could have a huge buffet with a bit of everything. Much nicer than a choc biscuit.

Debs75 · 23/09/2013 14:15

Henrietta That is stupid about your coil. My Doc said if I can't find it to come in and get a scan that day! I would be jumping on their heads if they told me to wait 4 months when it could be easily done this week

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 23/09/2013 14:37

Henrietta that is ridiculous.

Is that your GP or your family planning service telling you that? I would be tempted to present at A&E with 'severe abdominal pain' and tell them you've got a missing Mirena and they will scan you. Awful that you should need to do such a thing though. Really Angry for you.
What about a private scan? Is that an option for you?

I had a friend over for lunch today. I did quiche and salad with garlic bread. I only had one slice of garlic bread, and when I was clearing up I threw the remaining half away! I would never have done that a few weeks ago.

I am due on any day. My periods having been very regular since they came back after DS2, seem to have gone awry again. I had PCOS in the past and sometimes went months with no period. It was so nice knowing what day it was going to come :( Humph.

SummerHoliDidi · 23/09/2013 16:33

Henrietta it is ridiculous that you have to wait all that time for a scan! Could you ring them every day and ask if they have any cancellations?

I'm eating soup this week. I made a vat of it yesterday, it's very green and is just vegetables so I'm having a big bowl of that for lunch every day.

Alibaba it's rubbish not knowing when you're going to come on isn't it? I have PCOS but seem to have had fairly regular periods for about the past year, but the PMT is getting me down now and I wish I was back at not having any at all.

LegoAcupuncture · 23/09/2013 17:37

Hen that is ridiculous! How can they expect you to wait that long.

I'm feeling all blue. Have had very little sleep last night, maybe three hours max and then on way home from school run had a little knock in the car (not my fault) so feeling knackered and shaky. Could quite easily demolish a packet of digestives.

Reastie · 23/09/2013 18:07

Henrietta Shock Shock Shock good grief! Can you go back to your GP and see if they can hurry things along?

HenriettaPye · 23/09/2013 18:29

That's the hospital telling me that, I went to doctor and she couldn't find it so has referred me to the hospital gynaecology outpatients. Was considering going down the 'severe abdominal pain' route, which is ridiculous that you have to do it! Unfortunately private isn't an option :(

OP posts:
IsThatTrue · 23/09/2013 18:37

henrietta that is ridiculous! Shock

Well done clarinet on your food choices, and your walk! Amazing!

Today I have fasted, I did have 15 bits of butter popcorn earlier, but tbh a few months ago I would have eaten the whole bag (ds1 had some for pudding but there was a lot left) so I'm trying not to beat myself up. Pork and veg stir fry later :) gotta get ds2 to sleep and pick up dd from her first brownies meeting first though.

MiaWallace · 23/09/2013 18:51

Henrietta I totally agree with Ali and think you should go down the 'severe abdominal pain' route.

For your own piece of mind you need to get scanned as soon as you can.

I have had a good day. Lots of healthy food and feeling satisfied.

I am really going to try and have a blip free week (starting from today). Been doing this for almost 7 weeks now and I have yet to stay on track for a full 7 days (always mess up at the weekends). I really want to see how much difference it will make on the scales. Also hoping if I can do it without slipping up the cravings will reduce.

moonshine · 23/09/2013 19:29

Henrietta you poor thing, but sadly I'm not surprised Sad. I agree with going down the severe abdominal pain route - needs must sometimes!

Well my weekend went the same way as per usual - no Strictly Come Dancing Angry but still had some wine on Saturday. Did quite a bit of exercise and ate ok-ish - and still put on weight Hmm. Not sure if I'm ever going to crack this - fgs, I'm nearly 5 stones overweight, it should be falling off me, not clinging on like some limpet.

Still, in the words of a character in one of my fav films 'Tomorrow is another Day'......(that's Gone with the Wind!).

HenriettaPye · 23/09/2013 20:18

We r gonna need a new thread soon! Feeling so annoyed about it, just want to eat crap. I have no crap in the house, and the children are in bed so I can't leave the house so I will just have to make do with grapes. Which is a good thing really!

OP posts:
LegoAcupuncture · 23/09/2013 20:39

Stay on the grapes Hen!

I am loving mango ATM. Tricky little blighters to cut though.
