HenriettaPye · 26/08/2013 19:53

Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

Yellow, that doesn't sound like many calories for someone who is exercising, let alone breast feeding.

Mia, I hope you have recovered from that shocker of a car bill. Definitely gin-worthy, that one.

Now, I understand that people are disappointed there is no elephant's penis this week, so I thought I would cheer you all up by uploading a holiday pic to my profile for your enjoyment. Hopefully it won't get me chucked off the site Grin. (I have no idea whether you can view it but I think I made it public, never put a pic on mn before)

LegoAcupuncture · 19/09/2013 17:01

Can't view it birding :

HerdyHerdwick · 19/09/2013 17:02

No, can't view it Birding, your profile isn't visible at all.

HenriettaPye · 19/09/2013 17:23

While we are waiting on birding, I've added a picture that I took at the zoo at the weekend! It's not as impressive as an elephant penis but I found it pretty funny!! Grin

I can't see yours either Henrietta, but MN has been acting up all afternoon for me.

LegoAcupuncture · 19/09/2013 17:58

Can't see yours either Hen.

BirdingWidow · 19/09/2013 19:42

Sorry, have been putting DS to bed and tending my (huge, chicken and ham hock hot-water pastry-made-with-real-lard) pie. You can all disown me next week after the post-birthday buffet weigh-in...

Think I have fixed it - I made the pic public but apparently had to create a profile for anyone to see it. Enjoy!

HenriettaPye · 19/09/2013 19:58

Ahh so that's why they weigh so much.... BlushBlushBlushBlushBlushBlush

Made mine public now...photo had to be resized so not sure if you can make it out...however it is a lemur touching himself inappropriately. DS shouted very loudly 'look mum he's poking his willy!!'

OP posts:
LayMizzRarb · 19/09/2013 20:22

Lol at your son Hen. Why do they HAVE to shout these things? My Nephew (3)shouted so the next town could hear "'granny, your bottom is very big, like that gorilla'...

HenriettaPye · 19/09/2013 20:37

Oh LayMiz he says the most inappropriate things ever. We went shopping a few weeks ago, just me and him and i needed the toilet so I had to take him into the cubicle with me. I was on my period so was wearing a pad which he must have noticed because he loudly said 'oh mum you've pooed yourself! That was silly, it's all over your knickers! What are we going to do now?'

There was a queue in the toilets, I really wanted to die.

Reastie · 19/09/2013 20:48

Good grief birding what a photo! henrietta yours made me Grin . We're all going to be googling weighs of different willies now and measuring our weightloss against different animals aren't we hope I lose more than a guinea pigs willy next week

Henrietta I'm cringing on your behalf. LayMizz Grin at granny gorillas bum!

Not a great day today as feeling miserable with a cold coming on and DD being extraordinary hard work in the whinge stakes as she's dropping her nap and been under the weather (leathal combo). Will be better tomorrow though

clarinetV2 · 19/09/2013 21:36

Can someone explain how you access photos? I never knew such a thing was possible on MN.

Oh Hen, you must have wanted the ground to open up and swallow you. I would have found it very difficult not to laugh if I'd been in the queue.

It reminds me of a time I was in the supermarket queue with the kids. DD2 then about 7 asked at the top of her voice, 'Mummy, have you got your period?' Turned out she wanted to know whether I could take them swimming - and you can guess my stock excuse for saying no. I had rather a lot of periods before the girls wised up to it! Anyway, it served me right on that occasion.

clarinetV2 · 19/09/2013 21:38

Posted too soon. Sorry to hear about your cold and your DD being under the weather, Reastie. I gather the real weather is about to perk up again, maybe that will cheer things up a bit. Hope you feel better soon.

LegoAcupuncture · 19/09/2013 21:39

I opened birdings profile and nearly choked on a grape Grin.

cq · 19/09/2013 22:44

Just checking in on iPad and can't view profiles on here. Am now going to have to go and fire up the pc to see Birding's profile otherwise I will be unable to sleep!

Lorelai · 20/09/2013 06:46

Morning ladies. I think I may need your support over the next few days. I don't really know why, but I can feel myself starting to get despondent/fed up with dieting, and am worried that I am going to slip up over the weekend. Last night I was cooking and managed to justify using a little bit of oil rather than just fry light, and adding butter (well, full fat clover) to my mashed potato. This would usually be the start of a slippery slope, so I need to be extra disciplined, but I am worried that being disciplined will make me feel more deprived and so cause the exact slip I am trying to avoid...

LegoAcupuncture · 20/09/2013 08:01

Come on Lor, you CAN do this. Have you had a treat since you started? Maybe treat yourself to something and get your urge to splurge over with?

CQ I use Safari on my ipad as I hate the mn app. Can view profiles that way :)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/09/2013 08:14

Lore I know exactly how you feel - I've been there so many times in the past.
Are you following WW/SW or something else, or just cutting back? Can you increase your points/calories over the weekend to allow for a nice treat and then get back to it on Monday?

LayMizzRarb · 20/09/2013 10:24

Lorelai you are so not alone, feeling like this. You are only human.
You can get through this. What is your ultimate comfort food?
How about having a couple of hours tonight where you don't follow the diet, then you can go to bed tonight, then wake up tomorrow morning for a fresh new start?
Don't let that old bugger obesity win. Control your own couple of hours off, then then get back on the wagon.

LegoAcupuncture · 20/09/2013 10:36

Urgh, I am loaded with cold, had such a bad nights sleep as I couldn't breathe through my nose. I need soup and bread.

Lorelai · 20/09/2013 11:06

Thanks all. I am feeling a lot better now, i am doing sw and usually don't use my syns , but definitely used them all yesterday! I think the way to handle it is to view yesterday as a treat day, and not punish myself.

HenriettaPye · 20/09/2013 12:14

Aw lego I hope you feel better soon.

Lorelai when I was doing slimming world, we were always told that you actually lose weight quicker if you do use some of your syns. Our leader said to aim for 7/8 a day

OP posts:
TiredNursey · 20/09/2013 15:16

Lorelai, so did my consultant.
We said, your syns are there to help avoid the splurges, so use them, but if you have a day when you go overboard, then use flexible syns. And get back on track.
So dont worry. Everybody has those days, give your self a break. Smile
For what its worth, I never use Fry Light, I just use a spray of olive oil in a non stick pan or saucepan.
Heart healthy and all that.....

Lorelai · 20/09/2013 17:26

Hmm, interesting. I have to say, most of the time I really don't need my syns, I am quite happy with the amount that I am eating, plus I figure that there are always going to be a few bits that I forget to count/miscalculate portion sizes, and if I haven't used my syns then they are still accounted for in a way. But today I am not finding it so easy, and I really, really, want something to eat right now Sad I've had a Alpen Light bar and a satsuma but the bread bin is calling and I am finding it hard to resist. I had a small milky way this afternoon so have had some syns already (need to work out how many), and I can't think what else I can have to tide me over until dinner (we eat after the kids are in bed, about 8pm) - any ideas?
