HenriettaPye · 26/08/2013 19:53

Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

3lbs down :)

Reastie · 04/09/2013 19:44

Aww lego it's really frustrating when you feel like you've visably lost weight and no one comments. All I can say it it took me losing over 3 stone before anyone commented Confused

on wl, sometimes I go for several weeks losing nothing (or nearly nothing) and then suddenly lose a few pounds in a week, almost like it finally catches up with me, so dno't give up

phantom well done

TiredNursey · 04/09/2013 19:53

4 lbs down today!!!

That takes me to a 12 lb loss. Am now 248lbs.

Only another 10 or so to go.

But my trousers today are positively baggy on my bum. The last time I wore them they were very very snug. (Size 18 but too tight, should really have been wearing a 20)

When I lose weight it comes off bum and legs first, then belly and finally boobs.

I would really like to see my gut get smaller, but this is a long term thing so if I can keep it up I will get there.

LegoAcupuncture · 04/09/2013 20:53

Well done Tired!

My weight comes off my waist first, wish it would come off my thighs and bum as fast.

Reastie · 04/09/2013 21:00

My weight comes off my boobs first and my tummy last Hmm

Sirzy · 04/09/2013 21:02

I have dropped a boob size (cup and width) so far. Thankfully I had pleny to start with!

Wish it would come off my tummy as fast, I know it has come off as I have dropped dress sizes but its still horrible and flabby!

moonshine · 04/09/2013 21:30

One year when I did LighterLife I lost more than 8 stones and some friends never ever commented or alluded to it Confused.

Sadly the weight comes off from my 'apron' last. This time I also have lots of back-fat, even after I squish it into my bra [now there's a nice image].

Lego - I've been a daily weigher for so many years that I don't think I can break the habit, I'm afraid. I think not doing it (unless I'm on holiday or similar) would actually be more stressful now.

Thank you for joining our 'quiche.' When I initially started the thread, I had no idea it would be do successful. I could have sat there with no replies, however you all joined and now we have a full thread and this one is almost half full! You are all wonderful! Smile

This is such a great thread and it is lovely to read all your 'non-scale victories' - shrinking down out of clothes and so on :) And congratulations on all the losses.

Lego - one of the Mums at school has lost a massive amount of weight over the last year. I personally only said anything to her about it just before the summer holidays, because before that it wasn't so so noticeable. I think she had been wearing the same clothes still and it was only when she wore something new that it really showed.
I also think people are worried about causing offence in case 'wow you've lost loads of weight' comes over as 'blimey you were a fat cow before, weren't you?' Grin

My weight comes off my tummy last unfortunately.

I haven't counted this week because I only joined you the other day, so I will weigh in for the first time next Wednesday.

HenriettaPye · 04/09/2013 21:58

Oh and this week we have lost 37lb between us all! That's the same as a medium sized microwave- or 37 guinea pigs GrinGrinGrin

And in total since we started we have lost an incredible 133lb!! Which is just a bit more than a newborn giraffe ShockShock

OP posts:
LayMizzRarb · 04/09/2013 22:15

I may have put weight on this week, but I suddenly find that I can now fit into size 24 knickers I haven't worn in a year or so because they were very very uncomfortably tight. The 26's are a tad loose!
So all is not lost!

moonshine · 04/09/2013 22:36

[pathetic voice] I'm not on the list - I'm down 2.5lbs.

Well done to all [applause]

HenriettaPye · 04/09/2013 22:46

Oh moonshine I'm sorry!!! That's last week and this week I've left someone off the list. Very sorry Blush

OP posts:
moonshine · 04/09/2013 22:56

Grin No worries, just wanted to add my guinea pig's worth just in case it all goes pear-shaped!

HenriettaPye · 04/09/2013 22:57

So that's 39.5 guinea pigs this week!!

OP posts:
Reastie · 05/09/2013 07:29

I'm not on the list either. I'm 1 lb down.

Love the loss consolidation Henrietta , really motivational Thanks

This week we lost a brilliant 40.5 lb! That's equal to a 5 gallon bottle of water or a human leg!Blush I think this has been our best week so far. Since the beginning of the thread we have lost 136.5lb which is the equivalent of a newborn giraffe with 3 guinea pigs riding on its back! Wink

OP posts:
Sirzy · 05/09/2013 08:09

Grin at the idea of giraffes giving guniea pigs rides!

I have realised in total I have lost one DS (who is nearly 4)

LegoAcupuncture · 05/09/2013 08:11

Love the visualisation of the cowboy guinea pigs Grin

ThwartedbyMum · 05/09/2013 08:13

Some really good losses this week - well done!
When I start to lose weight i tend to get dips on either side of my stomach, if that makes sense and then lose it off my midriff. I go a bit of a weird shape with fat displacement! It all evens out in the end thankfully.
I can't seem to find the original thread can anyone provide a link or point me in the right direction? Cheers.

HenriettaPye · 05/09/2013 08:37

Wow Sirzy that's great! Been out for a walk this morning while DH and kids were still fast asleep- that's dedication!! Smile

Just had a muller light and a banana for breakfast so today has definitely started in the right direction. My daily motivation, although it has been mentioned by someone else before, is that when I go shopping I want to buy clothes for myself because I actually LIKE them, not just because they will cover my stomach/hips/arms

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/09/2013 12:07

Henrietta that is dedicated!

I did well yesterday, and managed to not succumb to any munchies later in the evening which has been a problem recently.

I've started well today - granola, yoghurt and fruit for breakfast and no snacking all morning.

BirdingWidow · 05/09/2013 12:49

Well done everyone yesterday, and words of wisdom from Clarinet too. It is always worth resisting empty calories, even if the scales do not reward you at the next weigh-in it will catch up eventually. Likewise the mars bar in the fridge that I am trying to resist, that is not a Good Thing.

Someone up thread (apols can't find it on my phone) suggested sugar free gum as a way to avoid eating the baby's delicious leftovers. That hasn't been an option for me recently because of a temporary filling that keeps falling out but finally, after several false starts and a formal
Complaint about my incompetent (private, expensive) dentist I got my crown inlay fitted last night. So I will give the gum a go, thanks for the suggestion.

DS is starting nursery next week so has his induction this week. There have been tears as I drop him off and general clinginess at home but he is fine while he is there. I am finding it hard though. Today he is there for 3 hours over lunch so I have just done something I rarely do and made myself a delicious lunch. Half a bag of posh leaves and some balsamic drizzle, topped with some fresh figs cut into quarters, stuffed with a bit of goats cheese, wrapped in Parma ham and warmed in a dry frying pan until the cheese goes oozy. Sat in the shade in the garden to eat it, was under 300 calories and delicious. Feeling more at peace and looking forward to hugging DS later. Monday is his first full day, I think I may be a bit wobbly Sad.

Enjoy the sun if you have it, rain again tomorrow

BirdingWidow · 05/09/2013 12:59

Ooh, and an NSV for me. Ordered some new bras in a smaller cup size - now a K! If I can shrink the norks just two more sizes to a J I will have about 10x the choice in bravissimo, a goal worth pursuing indeed! However, if i carry on losing i will be back in a 32 inch back soon (as I was pre-pregnancy) but will still have an arse with its own gravitational field. Smaller back just makes my arse look even bigger Blush as that seems to be extremely resistant to shifting!
