Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

Alibabs, having no munchies at night time is what I'm finding hard too. I'm good all day as I'm running around after the kids, and am too busy to sit and pig out, yet when I get them to bed I really miss sitting down watching TV and eating chocolate!

Hope DS settles in nursery ok for you birding. My DS starts preschool on Monday and I am dreading it. I'll miss having him around to talk to.

Had a good day today, porridge for breakfast a carrot for a snack and then soup and a roll for lunch. Tea was Mexican burritos but I only had 2 instead of 3 with a big salad.

Am under my points today and feeling pretty stuffed so will try and resist the cupboards tonight.

I am drinking more as I feel I often have something to eat when I feel thirsty. I also do a lot of having something to eat to 'settle my stomach' I have no idea why I do this but I think it will be something from childhood. One habit I must change

IsaacCox · 05/09/2013 20:40

Great post Clarinet :)

Thanks for the special mention Henrietta :)

Jeez, I've been SO hungry today. Been picking all day but thankfully I've not gone over my calorie limit. Been so emotional too Hmm Just had a hot chocolate so I'm hoping that'll keep me filled until bed.

IsaacCox · 05/09/2013 20:41

Well done Birding on the smaller bras! :)

MiaWallace · 05/09/2013 20:58

First day back in work and I'm worn out.

Don't know how I will find the energy to exercise on top of work.

On the plus side it was easy to stick to my calories today because I've been too busy to think about food.

LayMizzRarb · 05/09/2013 21:24

Have felt a bit dispirited today, but kept thinking what Clarinet wrote! So I think I should at least give it another few weeks before I get totally cheesed off :-)

BirdingWidow · 05/09/2013 22:27

Thanks Isaac. Still got my back fat though Grin

DS was awful after his 3 hrs of nursery - apparently was happy enough when there but too excited to sleep or eat so the aftermath was not pretty... It will all settle down though.

LayMizz, don't leave us! We'll all have times when we feel we are on a roll and times when motivation / encouragement deserts us. Stick around and you will see results. Even treading water for a bit isn't so bad... I was in (evil) tescos today and they were selling, as they usually do, some pouches of chocolate (twirl bites, maltesers, that sort of thing) for £1. I loved those offers and could easily finish a bag in an afternoon. If I wasn't trying to lose this weight, with the help of all of you, I know in my heart I would actually be going in the other direction. I can't speak for everyone but fir me 'success' isn't just about losing several lb a week (a lovely thought but unrealistic for anyone after the first few weeks), but as an absolute minimum i need to be a healthier weight next week/month/year, however marginally, and not just going up and up.

Also, I think you may have the best mn name on the thread so you should definitely stick around [Smile]

SummerHoliDidi · 05/09/2013 22:36

Mia me too. I've been back since Tuesday but today's the first day with the pupils in and I'm knackered. I've only taught 2 lessons (and had 2 hours with my form getting them sorted out) and I came home ready for a nap.

LayMizz definitely give it a few weeks, you CAN do this and it WILL work long term. Are you writing a food diary? I find that helps me really focus on what I'm eating and figure out what might be going wrong.

I hope your dcs settle happily into nursery and pre-school Henrietta and birding. My dd2 started pre-school at Easter and the cm had to take her, I'm rather jealous of people who are able to take their own dc on their first day. Dd2 never had any tears but she refused to speak to anyone at pre-school for 3 weeks Hmm. It's funny how different she is to dd1.

clarinetV2 · 05/09/2013 22:58

LayMizz, I have one thing to say to you. Knickers! You've gone down a size, remember? Stay with us - another couple of weeks and we want to hear you've dropped them again... another size, I mean... Grin

LayMizzRarb · 05/09/2013 23:04

Thank you everyone. I religiously track everything I eat as I am doing WW online and that comes with an app to track everything and I love being able to do that on my phone, I put EVERYTHING on it, and can do it unobtrusively at work, for example.
Having an extreme amount to lose (think - about the weight of a average teenage boy) I was hoping to do it more than a pound a week, at least in the beginning.
It is in the back of my mind that maybe I have been on so many diets over the years that my metabolism is just shot to pieces, or at 47, my metabolism is grinding to a halt?
I am disabled and can't excercise very easily, but still walk for 10 mins 4 times a day to and from bus stops to get to work and back, so I'm not totally inactive.
I am going to keep with it though!

LegoAcupuncture · 06/09/2013 07:51

That's the spirit LayMizz!

cq · 06/09/2013 09:38

BirdingWidow - your phrase 'treading water' has really struck a chord with me.

I've been really out of sorts the last few days, grumpy, tired, counting down the hours till both kids back to school. I've not been tracking on MFP, but I haven't reverted entirely to old ways either, so I haven't been cracking open the wine or stuffing myself with biscuits.

Mentally, I am just knackered after the long holiday, and treading water is exactly what I find myself doing. But thanks to all of the motivation on this thread, I will get back in the groove when I've caught up with myself, and hopefully the weight will not have gone up.

So thanks for being there - just keep talking everyone Smile

HenriettaPye · 06/09/2013 10:16

Sorry everyone I haven't been around much- too busy spending money on reasties Christmas bargain thread GrinGrin

Hope everyone's doing well- I had a Chinese last night but went for a chicken chow mein as I remember it's one of the lower syn foods from the Chinese in slimming world.

Anyone got an actifry? We have one, mainly use it for chips but would like inspiration from others! Smile

OP posts:
phantomhairpuller · 06/09/2013 13:14

Chicken fillets cut into chunks with a little bit of chilli powder sprinkled on work brilliantly in the actifry.

Also, chicken peppers and onions for fajitas work well in there and take minutes to cook.

I've just started experimenting with ours as we've had it years but only ever really cook chips in it Shock

BirdingWidow · 06/09/2013 13:39

cq, whether you have put on or not after the holiday at least you will know you have limited the damage and been kinder to yourself than if you had taken the brakes off fully.

I am off to a wedding tomorrow (rain forecast, only have sandals to wear with my dress, grr). I will partake fully in my lovely meal and also some wine but will just hold off on the cheeseboard as that will easily turn into mindless shovelling Smile. I intend to fully enjoy it and try to be a bit more good for the rest of the week. I have been pretty good so far but realise that tomorrow will probably leave its mark!

I am going to look up actifry but don't think it will help my decluttering efforts. Nor does Reastie's lovely christmas thread (waves to Henrietta too)

YellowCanary1 · 06/09/2013 13:41

Hi All,
Been absent for a week as went off on holiday with DH and DCs and we both refused to take any form of technology which could connect to internet etc! Had a wonderful week Smile.
I was being quite good but not overly careful and did enjoy the odd glass of wine and mouthful of ice cream from my son! Anyway with all that I was delighted that I have remained the same weight as from that when I left. Come back all renewed and afresh to get rid of the remaining amounts! Grin
Looks like some great losses at the last weigh in - well done!!!

Debs75 · 06/09/2013 15:17

So still having a good day. Porrige for breakdfast, apple for snack, soup and toast for lunch. Tea will be weightwatchers sausages with butternut squash chips and eggs. Am keeping under points again so need to keep up the good work with a meal plan for next week. I do hate that though as I like to eat what I want not from a menu.

May have a wobble tomorrow as Dnephews birthday so off to bowling then for something to eat. Next to bowling is McDonalds, KFC, Chiquitos(Mexican) Frankie and Bennys and Pizza Hut. Maybe if I run down to the pins instead of bowling the ball I may work off some caloriesGrin

LayMizzRarb · 06/09/2013 21:43

Hope you have all had a good day. Stuck rigidly to it again today. I have decided to do another 2 weeks of WW, and if nothing has really happened I am going to move straight on to another plan; maybe the Atkins, or slimfast. I love how easy it is to follow WW with regards to the points system, but maybe it is not the one for me. Maybe I need a high protein, low carb regime, who knows?
I would miss my fruit and veg though. Just had a huge bowl of carrot soup, made with carrots, coriander, onions, and some stock Smile all finished off with some snack a jack rice cakes.

MILLYMOLLYMANDYMAX · 06/09/2013 22:43

Hi all I was away on holiday and missed a weigh in. Then I missed another. Can't believe that the other thread got filled up so quickly and this is already on page 18.
I think I did ok on holiday maintaining at 13 st 4 lb. Been trying to keep to the low carbing but have fallen off at least once a day.
Hopefully back on track tomorrow.

Reastie · 07/09/2013 07:35

Birding enjoy the wedding and hope it doesn't rain too much (fwiw I keep having to empty cupboards to put all the christmas stuff in Blush )

Bit of a rubbish week overall for me this week, but it's first week back to work after the summer so I knew I wouldn't be great as I'm so tired. Once I getback in the swing should be better.

Lay how are you doing now?

Anyone on my fitness pal here btw? I'm reastie1 if you want to friend me (that sounds a bit friendlessly pathetic doesn't it!)

YellowCanary1 · 07/09/2013 08:31

Hi Reastie, tried to find you on MFP but it wouldn't come up. I'm yellowcanary123 on there.

Reastie · 07/09/2013 08:52

Found you yellow! Request sent Grin

BirdingWidow · 07/09/2013 09:17

Thanks Reastie. I am embarking on eye makeup now, which i rarely bother with and am very bad at, so may end up looking like I've been in a fight.

I would love to add people on MFP, just have to log on via a proper laptop first to change my username as it is currently my real name (Duh). Them I will post so hopefully can link up with people there.

I shall check in tomorrow and confess the damage. Canapés will be v tempting...

MiaWallace · 07/09/2013 11:01

Struggling a bit at the moment. When it was the summer holiday I could focus more or less exclusively on losing weight and getting in plenty of exercise. Now I'm back in work I just want to come home and treat myself to junk and wine.

I need to find a balance between work and taking care of myself.

I'm miawallace32 on MFP if anyone would like to add me

Reastie · 07/09/2013 11:05

Mia do you work in a school? (I'm assuming given you had the summer off and struggle with work/life balance) I'm a teacher and have struggled through this week too. Will hunt you down look for you on MFP
