Half a stone by Halloween, anyone?!

MegBusset · 25/08/2013 16:06

I have been trying and failing to lose half a stone since Christmas, the failure is mainly due to my enduring of wine and chocolate but I just feel a bit out of my comfortable zone and would fit my clothes better if I managed to shift it!

I am 9st 6lb and would like to be 9st. I'm only 5ft 3in so really feel that extra half zone.

I am going to start using MFP every day (always used to but have had the summer off to enjoy ice creams and BBQs and chilled wine), once the DC are back at school I am going to start running again 2 or 3x a week (have not found time to over the hols esp as I have started working three days a week). I feel that half a stone two months ought to be really achievable but I really need to stick with it and not go "Oh fuckit" and fall off the wagon too often

Anyone with a similar amount to lose like to join me for mutual support?

10st 4 today - that's another pound and a half (2 in total)!
Yay!
No exercise to speak of (30k - respec!), but will step up the walking.

Yeah it is a lot when you look at it added up like that I suppose!! It's an hour each way (slow walker). If I did it both ways every day it would be 50k a week but can't manage on Mondays....will make it up over the weekend.

Well done on the loss!

Thanks for the encouragement!Recording all I eat on fitness pal is really helping.
Yesterday I stood in the crisp aisle and convinced myself I don't like crisps any more. I was craving them last night, so am very glad I didn't buy any!

Hope the weekend weighers are doing well.

Well done everyone who is sticking this out.

Well done Nugget, on the miles of walking and the weight loss! Very encouraging.

Thanks yegods. I'm delighted.

Isn't it funny the way sometimes you can stick at it and other times you just can't get motivated? I was 10 stone 7 at start of year and managed to lose and gain the same 3 or 4 pounds over and over from January to August. Then in August something just stuck and I've been losing a pound a week for the last 6 or 7 weeks. Hopefully I can keep it up now and not slip back into old ways!!!

Yes, I know! Sometimes I am just too good at persuading myself that I am really losing weight or getting fitter when I'm not too.

Very tempting to give in to comfort eating while feeling ill lately.

9 stone 2 this morning, that's only 1lb Sad

I have eaten terribly the last couple of days though, I went down the biscuit isle (it's right by the door at our stupid Waitrose, this is why I should only go to Sainsburys) and the baby hasn't been sleeping well so I've been tired and eating more than I should.

Next week will be better! Hope everyone else is doing better than I am?

I think a pound in a week is great Suz. It's hard to lose more than that when you're already only in the 9 stones. I think you're doing great Smile

Yep I have to agree, I've been 9st-something since I was a teenager apart from pregnancy and the odd bout of illness and each pound is much harder to get off than if you're heavier. On the plus side there's less to lose and slowly losing it is more sustainable ime. I'll be very happy if I can average 1lb a week.

Anyway I think I deserve some kind of award because I shared out a big bag of Haribo Tangfastics amongst the children and ate none myself!

So I have been using MFP to keep an eye on what I eat and most days I'm sticking to it.
There has been the odd day when I've caved and had apple crumble after roast dinner but mostly been sticking close to 1400 calories a day.
I appear to have lost about 3 pounds when I weigh myself first thing in the morning. Hurrah!
However, when I get on the scales later in the day I seem to have lost almost nothing at all!
Which is my real weight?!?!? Confused. (Hoping it's the first thing in the morning one)

Well Rowlers i always go by the first thing in the morning weight as you just get full up of food and drinks as the day goes on ( well that's my brilliant scientific explanation anyway).

As long as you weigh yourself consistently first thing or last thing or whatever time you should be able to compare with previous weight and see if you are losing. But first thing is the best weight Grin

Hello all. Had a very strange week worrying like crazy about an abnormal smear test result. But now reporting back. Have been eating 1200 calories a day logging on my fitness pal. No meat, cut down coffee to 2 a day from 6. Cut down booze. Have been drinking 4 large teapots of herbal tea a day. Starting every morning with a cup of hot water beore my coffee. I have gone from 10 st 2 to 9st 8.5 since last Sunday.... I have never ever lost so much weight in a short space of time even when low carbing. It must be the herbal tea which has stopped me retaining water... It is bizarre...

Good news on the weight loss Jossy. Hope all okay with your smear .

What kind of herbal tea?

Report
Jossysgiants · 17/09/2013 06:43

All and any - camomile, peppermint, licorice. All I can think is that it is like drinking water really and I must actually be well hydrated for once and so everything is working better.. I just make a big pot and drink it at my desk. As soon as it is finished pretty much I make another one...my skin has improved a bit too.
All ok thanks nugget . Need a procedure but the consultant is leaving it a couple of weeks as I have a break planned. Thank god I didn't leave it any later though.

yegodsandlittlefishes · 17/09/2013 07:53

Thanks Jossy.
Sorry to read about you smear, glad that it was found early and you have a procedure lined up.

Will get some licorice, as I think I've found that effective before. Have been drinking lots of peppermint tea.

Yegods, I like green tea with lemon first thing in the morning and am sure that's the reason I didn't gain any weight while pregnant (I went off normal tea completely and usually drink gallons of the stuff). Clipper do a nice one.

I enjoy a fennel tea in the morning these days, I used to like lemon but my tastes have changed. I've had a cold this week and completely gone off coffee, having used it as 2 meals a day for over a year. It means I'm now eating something for breakfast and lunch and I can feel my waistband (on my larger sized work trousers) digging in now. I have stocked up on various new teas. (Licorice, mints, echinacea, etc.)

I drink loads of fruit/herbal tea since I had to give up caffeine because of migraines. Twinings cherry & cinnamon is my current fave.

Anyway this morning I weigh 9st 2.5lb, that's 2lb down from last week :) Posting a day early in case I put on a pound overnight Grin

Is it ok if I join? I am short (5'1") and old (48) and although I haven't weighed myself lately, I think I have put on a bit of weight (tight trousers). I guess I probably would like to lose about half a stone (I will weigh myself next time I am at the gym and see what the damage is).

Well done Meg! That is a great loss, it's all paying off at last!
I will not tell you what I weighed this morning, as it was later than usual. I'll post tomorrow and see if I can lose a few pounds overnight.
