Half a stone by Halloween, anyone?!

MegBusset · 25/08/2013 16:06

I have been trying and failing to lose half a stone since Christmas, the failure is mainly due to my enduring of wine and chocolate but I just feel a bit out of my comfortable zone and would fit my clothes better if I managed to shift it!

I am 9st 6lb and would like to be 9st. I'm only 5ft 3in so really feel that extra half zone.

I am going to start using MFP every day (always used to but have had the summer off to enjoy ice creams and BBQs and chilled wine), once the DC are back at school I am going to start running again 2 or 3x a week (have not found time to over the hols esp as I have started working three days a week). I feel that half a stone two months ought to be really achievable but I really need to stick with it and not go "Oh fuckit" and fall off the wagon too often

Anyone with a similar amount to lose like to join me for mutual support?

Grin I did well today!! Loads of delicious home made cakes in the staff room & I didn't have any!!!!! I sat there with my satsuma & felt pretty smug!
I also made sure I had a small tub of grapes to eat in the car on the way home from work- that's my worst time of day for wanting to snack & that seemed to help ease the biscuit/bread/cake/ anything bad craving!
I'm happy to have a weigh in day, preferably in the week but not bothered when.
Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow

Weekday for weigh-in is good for me too. Did ok today - had a lunch out - went for the veg panini and salad (no chips, boo!) and no pud. Home made sausage and mash for tea - small portion.....and NO CRISPS!!!! Like the idea of grapes in the car.....

me, me, me, I need this.
the nurse informed me that i have put on 5kg since my last review for the mini-pill

I attribute this to a) no exercise due to a bad run of injuries and illnesses
and b) eating like A Beast

I started eating a bit more normally today, and when i've shaken off this bout of manflu I might have to start swimming. I hate swimming, but my knee and ankle are still a little too creaky for starting running again.

am 5'9" and 11st11. technically I have a healthy BMI (just), but have a small frame, and so 10 stone is a really good weight for me. Interim goal is 11st.

Good call Gary, I already weighed myself this morning and have lost nothing so this gives me another day!!!

I'm off to Buggyfit today, and yesterday did an hour and a half country walk with my 20lb 11-month-old in the sling on my back (though cancelled out by the cream tea we walked there for...) so am feeling hopeful!

Can I join? Put on half a stone in the spring/earlier summer and managed to loose a couple of pounds during the summer holidays, so 4/5lbs to go. Now things are back to normal, feel I can concentrate a bit more on what I eat.

My jeans I wear in the winter are too tight, so need to be able to wear them soon.

Joining! I am 10 stone 1 as of last Friday, 9 stone 7 would mean fitting in clothes again and 9 stone would be the ideal. Was 10 stone 7 so have managed to slo-o-o-o-o-wly lose half a stone this year but I want to ramp it up a bit now so half a stone by Halloween would be perfect. And then another few pounds by December (going on holidays in December but also just want to lose weight for general life and stop being a glutton).

Friday's my weighday (as that's the day I should theoretically be lightest...) I'm pretty good during the week mostly, bring my breakfast and lunch to work and have a healthy dinner. Downfall is weekend when I invariably have loads of beer, takeaway, chips, crisps etc. Trying to eat well Sunday to Friday afternoon at the moment, with time off for good behaviour Friday nights and Saturdays. Also trying to walk in and out to work (5km each way) most every day.

Small tub of grapes is my choice of afternoon snack too Mabeg and LadyBarlow - stops me going for the crisps option. Also have discovered new Sour Cream and Onion Tuc crackers - 18 calories each and nice enough to feel indulgent (as long as you stick to 2 or 3 though...)

Right, should we say we won't weigh in this week coz we've only just started? So, weigh in will be Thurs 12th or by Fri 13th- whatever's easier for each of us?
I'm still doing ok but haven't done any exercise, I just cannot fit it in this week, portion control is ok & my afternoon snack of grapes is definitely the way forward! No munchies having that & a bottle of water

Well done Meg that's a fab start!
Weighed in (yesterday actually!) And I'm at 11st 5, so 3 pounds off! Really pleased as now I'm (just) back in the healthy weight range for my height.
My Fitness Pal is great :)
nugget those snack crackers sound nice, may have to try.
My saviour is slices of melon in the afternoon, and my treat if I feel I need something indulgent has been a solero, only 89 cals and I love them!

Let's keep this up, can't wait to actually feel slimmer and not to be cut in half by all my waistbands!

Just checking in!
Started properly on Tuesday so not going to weigh till next week.
Worked out what MFP means and have been using it for last 3 days.
I've been completing all I eat etc and it does help to stop me being too tempted by all the sweet stuff I would usually snack on. Have also done a few hours of digging and been to the gym for 40 minutes tonight so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it pays off. I don't want to get disillusioned and give up ...

Hello all. Can I join you? I'm giving myself until the weekend to binge, then dc2 will be 6 weeks old and the lose the baby weight campaign begins Grin Half a stone by Halloween sounds like a good target. I need to lose a stone in total to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Not recovered enough yo run yet, I'm hoping up do it with diet, walking and swimming/walking around the pool with the baby Smile

Morning.
I am 11st 6! 5lbs off.
It's not really 5lb though - lots of water weight, plus when I was weighed last week I kept my shoes on.
I still reckon there's probably a pound of actual weight loss there though.

I'll join please!

Was 12 stone 7 ish at start of the summer and managed to loose 7lb through 5:2 and c25k but 5:2 turned me into a good obsessed maniac and the running made my back go, apparently I have a week spot. So I have up ha!

I'm now exactly 12 stone (5ft9ish) and can't seem to get past this barrier. Trying to do about an hour walk a day, and just going to stop eating rubbish! Also less bread, I eat a lot of bread so that is going, I read somewhere to think of it as cake so that's what I'll do.

Having a 3 course meal with friends tonight involving pasta, garlic bread and profiter rolls so not a good start. May just eat fruit for today to try and balance it out.

Massive well done on hitting the 9s!! I know how good it feels as this morning for the first time in years there is an 11 at the start on mine! 11stone 13lbs but yes need to not ruin it now and keep on going.

I am now 9st 7 with a BMI of 24.38. Since the start of the thread I have lost 2 pounds and put it back on again. I did weigh myself a bit later in the day than usual, and with damp hair, so should be heading in the right direction next week.

Anyone else using wi fit for exercise on days like today?

Well done Meg, and thanks for the thread.

I am using fitness pal as a food diary now to help me eat something for breakfast and cut out the night time snacking.
