Half a stone by Halloween, anyone?!

MegBusset · 25/08/2013 16:06

I have been trying and failing to lose half a stone since Christmas, the failure is mainly due to my enduring of wine and chocolate but I just feel a bit out of my comfortable zone and would fit my clothes better if I managed to shift it!

I am 9st 6lb and would like to be 9st. I'm only 5ft 3in so really feel that extra half zone.

I am going to start using MFP every day (always used to but have had the summer off to enjoy ice creams and BBQs and chilled wine), once the DC are back at school I am going to start running again 2 or 3x a week (have not found time to over the hols esp as I have started working three days a week). I feel that half a stone two months ought to be really achievable but I really need to stick with it and not go "Oh fuckit" and fall off the wagon too often

Anyone with a similar amount to lose like to join me for mutual support?

Everyone's doing so well!
I'd dipped by a pound by Wednesday but today half a pound appears to have returned (story of the last 3 years!).
But half a pound is better than nothing so will press on. I do feel better for not imbibing ice cream/wine in the evenings; even without the wine I'd feel hungover next day from the drop in blood sugar.

I seem to have acquired a Greek yoghurt with strawberries and honey habit in its stead Hmm. Will knock that on the head and substitute with a savoury snack.

Well done on all the losses! yegods a 9 is something I haven't seen for many years, must feel amazing! Well done :)

shotgun a loss is a loss and at least using my fitness pal can get you into the habit of mindful eating, that's got to be a good thing.

Feel a bit iffy about the weekend, there seems to be so much extra food around! Went for a run this morning and am eating very lightly today so I can have pudding and an illicit glass of wine later. Then have lunch and shopping with a friend tomorrow, a friend who likes to indulge in a Saturday afternoon cocktail or 2, wish me luck as I want to keep on track to get the next couple of pounds off this week!

Have lovely weekends all, hope we all stay roughly on target :)

It did feel amazing when I got down to a 9 something, I remember feeling like I was walking on air for a while, it was fantastic! (even though I was about 7 stone when I got married).

Of an evening I keep thinking 'it's getting too dark to go for a run now, I'll get up early and go in the morning' but have not been able to get myself up out of bed in time to get the run done before the local school children fill the pavements. No excuses on a Saturday though, so will make myself, even if it is a walk in the rain and not a proper run.

I did manage to make myself get on the wi fit. It had been 25 days since my last lot of bibbling about on it, and I've lost what little balance I had built up. I can spare a few minutes a day on it to have a stretch though.

It's our 10th wedding anniversary tonight so DH and I are going out for a meal to a Belgian restaurant, I may have to put dieting on hold so I can enjoy the frites and cherry beer! Then not step on the scales tomorrow morning Grin

Hello. Could I join too? DC2 is four weeks old and I'm ready to start shifting this baby weight! I am currently 9 stone 8 and want to get down to my pre pregnancy weight of 8 stone 8 by Christmas. But half a stone by Halloween would be great.
Haven't had much time to exercise recently as have been stuck in the house with a poorly toddler for the last week, but have been avoiding snacking and trying to eat smaller portions! My SIL has recently lost a lot of weight on the 5:2 so was thinking of starting that. Does anyone know whether its ok to do while breastfeeding?

Thehomesecretary I don't know much about 5:2 but there is a dedicated topic for it so you'd probably be able to find out there if you could do it while BFing. I wouldn't do it myself as a) I would get too obsessive about food/fasting and b) I don't see how it can work longterm unless y

...you follow it forever.

Well I really enjoyed my meal out last night but ran 5k this morning so hopefully that cancels out some of it!

Think I may also do the c25k starting Monday, I have done this twice already, lastyl year and early this year.

Today is diet day off day (like last 3 days) so may have a few treats.

Thanks everyone I'm really pleased with the loss, was 10 and a half stone at start of year so great to get back in the 9s.

I did have about 900 glasses of wine last night but Friday night is my night off. Didn't have any takeaway though just snaffled some chips off my fella.

Try to take it easy the rest of the weekend now.

Thanks to posting on here that I would go for a run, I did manage to make myself go out and do it. Only 2k and more of a walk than a run, but it was something! :D

I'm trying to be good this weekend because we're going out to celebrate (my birthday/DH finding work) next week, so want to be able to enjoy wine and maybe a pudding. have just eaten fruit and a breakfast bar so far today and I keep fantasising about eating junk food!

Can I join you all- have maintained a happy weight of 9 st 10 easily for the last few years. Weight has now somehow gone up to 10 st 2 so need to nip it in the bud. Want to lose it sensibly so it stays off. Finding it harder as I am getting older so using my fitness pal to try and keep myself in track. None of my clothes fit me so feeling pretty glum at the moment...

MizK · 09/09/2013 09:28

Hi jossy, sorry you feel glum, its horrid not to fit your clothes nicely. At least you are sorting out the extra few pounds before they become a stone and a half (wish I'd done the same!)

meg glad you had a nice evening out, good on you for running the very next day!

yegods sometimes making yourself actually do the exercise is harder than anything else so you should be proud you did it! Walking, running,it all helps, right?

Had a bit of a bad weekend in terms of food and alcohol, although it was brilliant in every other way! I fitted in a walk in the woods plus a long walk home instead of taking the bus, so just going to get back on it today and hope for a further loss on thursday. Started the day with a run so off to a good start :)

I ended up going out last night too Blush, didn't OD on food/booze too much though! My parents have been visiting so we've been taking the opportunity to go out in the evening, we don't get out that often!

Have been aching from my run but that's to be expected when I haven't been running in so long. Will go out again tomorrow after dropping the DC at school as long as it's not heaving down.

Thanks Mizk I have taken myself in hand and feeling much more positive. Focussing on making healthy choices rather than just worrying about weight - trying to cut out booze during the week as well. Well done on your run.
Good luck everyone for the week ahead. I baked a cake this evening and didn't scrape the bowl..so feeling v saintly.

Hope everyone's doing okay this week. I have been pretty good (weekend excepted) but really I'm aiming for being good Sunday to Thursday as I know I'll indulge Friday night and Saturdays. Trying to just be balanced and zen and accept that sometimes you will eat takeaways and have wine but just to balance it out during the week. And not get obsessed which is important too!

Have walked 10k today which is great, 5k Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully do 10k tomorrow and Friday too!

That's really good. I've been at work today so not much opportunity for exercise, have been reasonably good foodwise though. Oh and I ran 5k yesterday.

I'm going out for dinner tomorrow night with a bunch of MNers so might have to drive to make sure I don't drink!

Thanks Meg, it's 5k to work and 5k home so that's how I fit it in. I'm crap at doing anything "extra".

Dinner with MNers sounds fun! More fun with booze though Wink. But then the dreaded hangover hunger to deal with so maybe better driving Smile

Morning all :)

9st 4.5lb this morning so the same as last week, I'm happy with not having gained considering it was quite a food & booze-heavy weekend!

Morning all, how is everyone getting on?

I'm down to 9st 5 something so heading in the right general direction despite a couple of nights out. Have had a tummy bug too though, so lighter but certainly not fitter.

I'm planning to weigh myself tomorrow morning, but I don't think it's going to be good. I have done an hour of belly dancing and an hour of buggy fit this week, but also fell off the oreo wagon quite spectacularly, hopefully they'll cancel each other out.

I like your attitude Meg - the same is better than a gain! And there's always going to be booze and food heavy weekends.

Weighing in tomorrow hoping for a small loss but will try to be pragmatic if not!
