Today is a big day for me, a turning point! I've always been 'big' however have just been getting bigger and bigger. I want to lose 6 stone- starting from today.

Anyone else in the same boat who would like to swap inspiration and tips? Today I've planned to eat healthily and go for a nice long walk Grin

You are so happy NUF, what a change you made. I haven't heard of Alizonne but I'll keep it in mind in case some cash comes my way :)

I've just bought myself a cycle helmet! Those who post in Chat may remember my last go at cycling. I went out with dp who's a cycling geek, races & trains every week but against my better judgement he took me along for a ride. I promptly fell off into a bush & the bike fell on top of me, trapping me under it. I had to wait in the bush until he stopped laughing & could breathe again & came to rescue me Blush

The DC's are with their dad next week, I have a free week & have taken up his offer to go out for a ride again. Not sure if I regret it or not yet Grin

NUFC69 · 09/08/2013 13:20

Onetiredmummy - cycling is one of the things that I have started again. Know how you feel about landing in a bush - I came down a path from a bridge too fast and ended up in a patch of stinging nettles. Don't know what hurt most, my pride or the stings.

If you can, get yourself some cheap cycling shorts - I have the undershorts and they do help with the pain of the saddle. I go out with DH, who is also a cycling nut; he's very patient with me, though. Just start small is what I would say (and often, if you can find the time).

Momentary blips happen, it's life, but the real damage happens when you think 'oh well I've already been bad so I will just be bad the rest of the day'

Sirzy · 09/08/2013 15:36

I wish I could cycle, I am pretty sure that would end in a plaster cast though! Even as a child I struggled!

I ended up at McDonalds for lunch today :( but only had a plain chicken burger and half a portion of chips so hoping it doesn't do too much damage!

phantomhairpuller · 09/08/2013 16:07

I'm only on day two and I'm having a real Hmm day! I haven't eaten anything I shouldn't I just feel like I'm never gonna be able to eat the food I like ever again (which of course I know isn't true!)

Why is the doubt creeping in so frikkin' early?!

This is the reason I've failed so many times in the past Confused

HenriettaPye · 09/08/2013 16:30

Aw phantom- give yourself a treat night.something that off you are really good all week you can reward yourself on say a Saturday night with a bar of chocolate or whatever you miss most! It will be something to look forward too.

Thanks all, I really appreciate your support Flowers. I've had a long soak in the bath and feel much better. I've decided to sit down tonight and plan my weeks meals. This is what I was doing but stopped and that's why I've gone downhill. Also, I was writing everything that I was eating, but stopped that too. So I'm going to start doing them again, I can't get complacent.

Well done on your amazing weight loss NUFC69 :)

Sorry onetiredmummy but that made me laugh. I can just picture the scene Grin Hope you weren't too hurt and the next time goes well :)

I think Henrietta is right about the treat thing, I'm going to have a small one a week to keep me going.

What's everyone having for dinner? I'm making chicken and whatever veg we have left curry with a small portion of rice.

Sirzy · 09/08/2013 16:54

I made myself avoid any 'baddies' (chocolate, crisps and alcohol mainly) for the first month mainly just to prove to myself I didn't need them as I had myself thinking I did. Since then I have found I don't want them as often other than this week, thanks PMT!

Meal planning for me has been essential, I like to know what I am having and it has saved me money too. Stops me just nipping for a takeaway!

Tonight I am having griddled chicken breast, sweet potato wedges and roasted veg then some fruit salad afterwards. As its friday perhaps a glass of Weight Watcher Rose!

MiaWallace · 09/08/2013 17:01

Sirzy I like the idea of having a month off from all the 'baddies'. Think I need to detox from all the rubbish I have been putting into my body. Then I maybe able to use them as small treats instead of daily necessities.

Sirzy · 09/08/2013 17:02

That is what has worked for me. I also replaced them with a lot more salad, veg, water so they have become a normal part of my diet now rather than something I eat because I felt I should.

LegoAcupuncture · 09/08/2013 17:05

Sorry for my radio silence, it was ds2s birthday yesterday and have been busy today as well.

2lbs a week until Christmas sounds like an excellent idea! Much more doable and sounds easy no?

I'm going to start the 30 day squat challenge on Monday. Who wants to join me?

JaquelineHyde · 09/08/2013 17:13

Hi can I join?

I have lost 9 stone 6lb so far but still have at least another 7 stone to lose.

I have lost my weight so far over a 2 year period, which sounds like a long time but I have also been pregnant and given birth during that time as well. DS2 is 14 weeks old.

I have fallen off the wagon spectacularly this week and gained 4lb! I'm so pissed off with myself, especially as I was so close to the 10st mark Angry

I use my fitness pal to keep track of what I am doing and this week has all been about what I have been eating, not how much. I have only been slightly over my calories but it has all been high salt processed crap, so I am pretty certain it is all water weight and hope to lose most of it this week.

My weigh day is a Friday so this is the beginning of a fresh week for me.

Is the wii fit really worth getting?

Sirzy · 09/08/2013 17:16

That looks fab Lego, just been looking at some of the different challenges they have. I am up for the squat challenge.

Sirzy · 09/08/2013 17:22

Thats a fanatastic amount you have lost Jacqueline you must feel amazing!

I have the wii fit and it has been great for me as it is easier to fit around DS than the gym is. I do half an hour on that every morning and sometimes a bit more in the evening.

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 09/08/2013 17:23

Wow jaqueline that is an awe inspiring loss already. I think you can be forgiven 1 bad week.

phantomhairpuller · 09/08/2013 17:29

Well done Jacqueline, that's amazing Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 09/08/2013 17:34

Jacqueline, that's amazing! God, you must be so pleased with yourself. How are you doing it?

Vijac · 09/08/2013 17:42

I've got two stone to go and lost one since January (fast weight loss not my forte!). Hoping to lose another 5pounds before a wedding early sep. So why do I keep eating chocolate?!

onetiredmummy · 09/08/2013 17:47

Well done on everyone's weight losses :)

I can't do squats, they bugger my legs & knees up.

Just a reminder, if you want to add me on mfp its the same name as here. Prepare to be shamed next week as I continue doing daily 80 mins aerobics/pilates & its the week of extra bike rides (not ending in A&E) we hope Grin

MiaWallace · 09/08/2013 18:10

LegoAcupuncture I'll give the 30 day squat challenge a go. Don't know if I could do 5 at the moment let alone 50 but willing to give it a bash and it says you can space them out throughout the day.

I'll start with you on Monday (May try and do a few over the weekend and see how I manage!)

prayerbook · 09/08/2013 18:14

Hello inspirational women. Please can I join too?
No idea what I weigh, but am guessing about 17st, which means a target of 7st off. I too have dieted for 30 years and lost the same 2st over and over again. I will be 40 next June and will be wearing a size 16 dress to party in rather than hiding away in a size 22.
Most importantly I want to be fit and be able to run three miles everyday. Plus I want to learn to surf and I don't think I would currently fit in a wet suit. It all starts tomorrow with operation "eat less, move more"

cq · 09/08/2013 18:20

Life begins at 40, Prayerbook!! Welcome to the sweatshop.

I too have a morbid fear of wetsuits and can't contemplate getting into one until at least a size 14!

All my family arrive home tonight - dH took the kids to the seaside for a few days and I've had a blissful quiet week. It's enabled me to really get a good start on my healthy eating and exercise.

I've got cottage pie in the oven for tea, I'll be having a small portion with loads of veg. No idea how to calculate it for MFP - it will have to be a guesstimate. Just need to talk DH out of opening a bottle of wine.

JaquelineHyde · 09/08/2013 18:29

No special diet being used just the usual boring stuff.

It sounds amazing but I was a few lbs off 30 stone so the weight should have bloody dropped off me! The really hard work start now for the second half of my diet.

I am really impressed that I managed to lose weight whilst pregnant but DH and I have agreed that we won't be having another one for at least 2-3 years so I want to get to the normal weight range by then.

I think I'm going to buy the wii fit and then keep walking as much as possible.

Feel free to add me on mfp, my name is the same as on here but all lower case.

Sirzy · 09/08/2013 18:44

Good luck prayer.

I am going on a cruise next may and want to be able to wear any dress I like in a size 14 (or even better size 12!) without feeling like a blob.

I have dropped from an 18/20 to a comfy 16 so far but I have a feeling the last 4 stone may be much harder than the first 3!

MiaWallace · 09/08/2013 19:02

Jaqueline just found you on MFP. Your baby is scrummy
