Hi chesty. How much have you got to lose? Amazing that you've got back on the wagon after a slip up Thanks

I'm too ashamed to find out how much I have to loose but reckon around 8 stone Blush

Well you're on the right path, how much you have to lose is irrelevant.

How is everyone's weekend going? 2.5 mile run today...hoping for a decent result when I hop on the scales tomorrow morning. Really bloated though Angry

Off to stay with friends tomorrow night. That will involve me eating a prawn salad whilst those around me gorge on booze and curry. I may need some motivational words from you guys Hmm

Cheesy, I keep telling myself that all the nice foods I'd rather be eating will still be there once I've lost the weight (albeit in moderation unfortunately! ). I haven't been put in a situation like that yet though so I can't imagine how difficult it is!

It's been a full week today and have lost a grand total of 7 1/2 lb but I came on yesterday so hopefully it'll look like I lost more at my next weigh in!

I stumbled across some ideas of what to do with the soups/shakes recently (a muffin which was unsuccessful! and crisps? !) and I also found some SS+ recipes for chicken and tuna. .nothing for quorn though - anyone got any suggestions or found any others? I might try using a soup as a sauce soon. .

Also, my CDC suggested making up half a cup of black coffee and using 1/3 a carton of chocolate shake as being a good way to pace things out across the day. .she also mentioned that the cartons are good for freezing and eating like ice cream! I tried it with a strawberry one and it was yummy! Grin

Anyone have any others?

I've had apple crumble and grapes today. Blush

Another shitty weigh in for me tomorrow then.

Hi Everyone,

May I join you? Smile
I have just completed my first week on ss. I'd like a little company as I am doing this diet as part of a research study relating to weight/loss and Bowel cancer which my mum died of a couple of years ago.
have my first weigh in tonight. ..
Anyone know what is typical for first weeks loss?

Oh no cheesy! Nightmare. Could you just not resist? I came soooo close to caving last night when the kids made pizza and three slices were left. I even went to the fridge and stared at it. It looked even better than I'd imagined, even better than it smelt... I had to get DH to wrap it in tinfoil for his lunchbox today, then it was mentally out of my reach. I drank gallons of fizzy water instead. Boo. Then I had a dream that DH bought nine gorgeous loaves of bread and I ate a slice and cried cos I'd come out of ketosis. I was pathetically relieved when I woke up.

So I know how you must feel when temptation comes, but the shitter of a duff weigh-in (fingers crossed you're wrong and it's not duff) and getting back into ketosis all over again is just about bad enough to keep me going, so far. Like I said, if I'd been as successful as you, I might go easier on myself. Do you definitely want to stick with it? Have you considered switching to 5:2 to lose the rest? Cos if you keep cheating, it might be less miserable not to stick with VLCD at this point? Or do you think this last transgression might motivate you for the final stretch?

Hi tigger, welcome and good luck for your weigh-in (and weight loss!). I think typically people lose several pounds, but not always so don't be disappointed. The first week is distorted a bit because of water or summat. Someone more technical will be able to explain...

Report
Cheesyslice · 20/01/2014 11:57

Ah no I'm sticking with it, just need to get my head back in the right place. It is right for me, I'm just being an idiot. Came on yesterday as well which was a big part of the reason. I'm such a knobber.

Cheesyslice · 20/01/2014 12:36

Sorry, multiple post alert.

I think my problem is that I've only got another stone, maybe stone and half to lose. I'm not unhappy with myself now. I'm five foot six, 10st 8lbs and a small size 12. I'm hardly fat any more. I just need a kick up the arse to get the last stone off. COME ONNNNNNNN

Report
pinkdelight · 20/01/2014 14:12

Absolutely - that last stone is THE PITS! I always give up too early. And would certainly have jacked it in and be throwing a party at small size 12. But it sounds like you won't truly be content till you've hit your target so you're right to regroup and go for it again, get through that final stretch. As indecisive said, all that nice nosh will still be there down the line. We just have to be strong for a bit longer and not sabotage all the brilliant work so far. But you know all this. What would help to get your head back in the right place? Have you got some rewards lined up? What kind of motivators work best for you? Whenever I think I'm actually fine and don't need to lose that much, I look at some terrible photos of myself and it's a very helpful kick up the arse!

Thanks pink

I just popped to the loo at work and someone I haven't seen for a while commented on how much weight I've lost Grin

I'm off to Bologna tomorrow for two days with work. After that, that's it. Head back in the game. One final belt to get this bastard stone off.

Report
Cheesyslice · 20/01/2014 20:09

So I stayed the same. Which after the week I've had, is a fucking miracle.

I actually had a really good chat with my counsellor. I had a bit of a lightbulb moment and explained that I've lost two stone - I'm two thirds of the way though - and I'm now happy. That's why I'm struggling to shift the last stone. But I DO want to lose it. Absolutely. She said it's really common, and even though I'm not losing any weigh now I'm not putting any on either and I'm still going to group. I've also lost cm from my boobs, hips and waist. My face has also changed shape.

So, after our chat, my plan of action is to maintain this week as I'm away. Then, when I get back and weigh in next week, wipe the slate clean. Reset, reboot, restart. You may be thinking this is the end for cheesy...but it's not. I just need to feel normal again for a week.

Anyway enough of my shit. How is everyone else getting on? Thanks

Hi all.

Can I join too? Put on weighti whilst pregnant and after with PND. Starting weight 107kg 5ft 7. Felt so uncomfortable and a bit hopeless, wanted to do lighter life but couldn't afford it, when someone at work told me about Exante.
Started Total Solution 4th Jan. Weight loss 4.5kg week one, 3.5kg week two. Just starting to believe I might be able to do this.

What do people do if they get a bit unwell? Have laryngitis today and not sure if I should add some extra calories.

Good luck everybody!

Personal question - how are you avoiding any toilet issues? Blush
Defiantly not as regular as I used to be!

Hello all

I need some help. I'm trying to get back on s&s but am really struggling to get past day 1. I know I can do it once I've done a day but I keep eating. I'm not even hungry when I do it.

It's as if I want to deliberately thwart myself, when actually I want to lose weight so much.

What's this all about?! I have about 6 st to lose and know I can do it by summer if I just get going Hmm

Any suggestions? It usually happens about 4pm!

Hi tigger
Well done on your weight loss!
On the 'toilet issues' I'm down to twice weekly and have has to resort to Dulcolax once as well Blush

Twinkle - keeping finding things to distract yourself with, I have escaped upstairs to a hot bath and iplayer/mumsnet so that I can't even go in the kitchen. And more water!
Good luck Smile

Hi tigger. Well done on the loss. Not being regular is one of the downsides to vlcd diets I'm afraid. Whatever you do don't take laxatives - even mild ones work by drawing water from the body to bulk the stool out, which will (after you've poo'd) then result in your body frantically trying to retain the water it has lost, thus making you more bloated. This then encourages you to reach for the laxatives again, repeating the cycle and making it worse. I'm saying this as someone who previously got into this awful, painful cycle. Pease just drink tons of water and eat loads of veg and I promise you will eventually go, but it may take time.

twinkle I'm currently in the same boat so not the best person to advise! but my LL counsellor has been the only reason I've kept going. Without her and the group I would have given up ages ago so fair play to those of you who keep going without this support. Have your tried have a big cup of tea with some sweetener? This often staves off the hunger for a while.

Ive been recommended to take fibogel sachets, I used one a couple of days ago and it has helped so I think I will try taking it every few days to keep things moving as I don't have any bulk in my diet at the moment.
1 week down 7 weeks to go before I start adding food.

I've realised my husband and I watch way to many food based TV programmes. I did something I haven't done in ages for last few nights. Let him play on video games and I did a Jigsaw puzzle!
I have loads of sorting out and de-cluttering to do at home but wanted to treat myself a little.

Have a good day everyone

Jigsaw puzzle is a great idea! Watching bake off last week was torture Sad

I think Fybogel sounds like a good idea - although I seem to remember someone saying it has to be original not orange or theoretical risk the citric acid can knock you out of ketosis.

Hi lemonontop - good luck today.

Can I ask you all which day your hunger peaked? I am only on day 1 and have been really hungry today. Wondering if it gets worse before it gets better. I actually feel hungrier after eating the packs. Is that normal?

Report
tarajupp · 21/01/2014 19:08

Days one and two were the worst for me. Plus went cold turkey on caffeine too as can't face black coffee. I know what you mean about feeling hungry after the packs, that still comes and goes for me but in general my hunger has gone.

Report
pinkdelight · 22/01/2014 08:52

I find the first four days pretty tough, but just make sure you have plenty of strategies and you'll be okay. Drink lots of water, go for walks (not too strenuous!), have nice hot baths, go to bed early. It'll all help get you over the hump and into a much better zone where some days you can be so not hungry you have to force yourself to eat your third pack. Good luck! It will be worth it.

Hats off to you with the caffeine abstention tara. I managed that the first time, but then I did smoke back then. This time I'm having two cans of Coke Zero a day. Not great, but boy do I look forward to them!
