Cheesy - I would second waiting as long as possi le - for me it always makes for an easier day - usually I can do bottle of water coffee busy with stuff another bottle of water - find something else to do, more water - first "meal" 12pm at the earliest.

For me once I start I find it hard to last the day.

First one at 3pm is the best if you can do it mentally

dalek · 09/01/2014 18:51

Hello ladies

I wonder if you can help me. I have done LL twice - the first time it was the 100 thing and the second was 4 week modules.

Could anyone quickly explain how it works now?

pinkdelight · 09/01/2014 23:11

Oh my. Hats off to you but no way could I wait till 3pm! I'm fading by 9am if I don't have something. Would rather do 9. 12 and 5, with a bit of turkey later and a rogue hard boiled egg 'treat'. Am definitely less hungry at night but need filling in the morning. Amazing that you can wait that long.

Cheesyslice · 10/01/2014 19:16

Hi dalek. LL do total or Lite plans. On total you have four food packs per day and nothing else (for those with more to lose) and on lite you have three food packs and one protein/veg based meal.

I'm amazed that you guys can wait that long. I'd have collapsed. No exaggeration. I feel myself getting shaky by 8am, even if I drink water. I could last until 9am at the latest.

The time I feel my hunger most is form 12pm onwards. Period is due so I'm desperately hoping these hunger pains will fuck the fuck off soon.

MrsBradfield · 10/01/2014 19:37

Thanks for the replies guys, I want to lose 2 1/2 stone possibly 3 if I can get there! Had some bad news today, so didn't eat anything apart from my bar, had quite a bit of water, but have had tuna sweetcorn olive tomato pasta with Mayo tonight to try to cheer myself up a bit, back on plan tomorrow as think I was just getting to grips with the hunger and that was disappearing!

lemontop · 10/01/2014 21:31

Hi there. I am reading the thread with interest and hoping to join you all soon. Have ordered a week's trial pack of slim and save and two weeks of Exante to see which I prefee. Has anyone mixed the two? I thought I would start with slim and save and move on to Exante, which was a bit cheaper - thanks for the Groupon deal link. It's good to hear positive stories as I am a bit nervous if I am strong enough to do it, how will I explain it to my kids that I am not eating etc. I have about 4. 5 stone to lose but would be happy with losing 3.

bennismum · 10/01/2014 22:29

Hi I am looking to start the Cambridge diet on Monday. Any tips on how to prepare, any handy advice? I have a lot to loose to this is going to be a massive change. thanks

Cheesyslice · 11/01/2014 07:28

More newbies! Yay.

In terms of advice, the best thing to do before you start is to accept that with these diets...

  • Early days are easy (first couple of months). The weight falls off. Then it gets hard. You will plateau and you need to get through that.
  • Getting the weight off is the easy bit. Keeping it off and changing habits for a lifetime is the difficult part.
  • I've lost 2 stone since October (have been plateauing for a month Angry and I wouldn't have done it without the support of a group. I take my hat off to people who can do this alone by just ordering the packs.
Joiningthegang · 11/01/2014 10:30

My tips would be

Before you start cut down in carbs quite significantly

Personally I find it easier to drink individual 500ml bottles of water - and it's easier to keep track

Eat first one as late as you can

Get a good nights sleep

If feeling hungry drink a bottle I water, do something, drink another, do something else - hunger is natural and passes

Makes me think - when I'm not on this diet do I ever get properly hungry or is is a sugar/carb low

Drink more water - use fizzy water for variety!!!

Good luck to you all - first few days can be tough but you can get through

Bit like motherhood - no absolutely right way to do it, you just find what works for you and your body - you might slip up, just get back on track as soon as you can x

lemontop · 11/01/2014 12:40

Can I ask if you all went to see your GP before starting the diet and if so were they generally supportive or did they try and persuade you to do something else? Had a chat with my husband last night and he was very 'but why can't you just eat less?'and I think the money might be an issue but looking forward to getting started now.

hiphipreplacement · 11/01/2014 12:46

Hi everyone!

Lemon - my doc had to sign me off to do lighter life and marked it in the system as 'fad diet'. He didn't care though, offered no other support so just signed the form. I haven't bothered going to the doc now I'm doing an online plan.

After your opinion please fellow dieters - I've gotten into the habit of weighing myself three times on my digital weight watchers scales. The first time always seems to be more than it should be and if I weigh myself again it's three/four pounds lighter, no matter how many times I weight myself. So for eg 10st10, 10st6, 10st6, 10st6....

Which weight should I count? I'm obviously doing the lower one at the moment!

Since I started last Thursday I'm down 12 pounds

Cheesyslice · 11/01/2014 13:47

hiphip Get new scales! Grin

lemon I didn't go to my GP. You don't need medical consent for LL Lite, only total. Re your husband, if we could just 'eat less' then companies such as LL wouldn't exist. It's the structure, support and boundaries which make it work.

hiphipreplacement · 11/01/2014 17:12

They are new!!!

hiphipreplacement · 11/01/2014 18:15

DP offered to go to the shops to buy bleach and soap Hmm I suspect he's indulging in some chicken...

januarysunsetfire · 11/01/2014 18:36

I'm on the Cambridge weight plan just now. I have 2 stone to lose :)

I can't cope at all with WW/SW - I abuse flexibility!

I have my first shake at 6! Grin I REALLY drag it out!

I am suffering a bit with trapped wind and constipation, though Blush I had the runs terribly on Thursday night!

I was weighed for the first time yesterday and was 4lbs down so I'm happy!

Cheesyslice · 11/01/2014 20:17

This vlcd stuff does play havoc with the bowels, doesn't it? I've upped my veg intake this week and been pooing like a good'un Grin

bennismum · 11/01/2014 21:13

Thanks for the tips! Quite nervous - but looking forward to just getting on with it now.

Cheesyslice · 12/01/2014 14:19

Hi guys. How's the weekend been? I've been an angel this week, for the first time since Christmas Eve really, so hoping for a good loss tomorrow. Also just been for a run. Only two miles but better than sitting on my arse.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 12/01/2014 14:47

Very impressive Cheesy. I couldn't manage puffing exercise on a VLCD. Well done. Smile

I went for a day out in Bath yesterday with friends. We've been doing it for years and it usually involves a LOT of food an alcohol from the minute we get on the coach and a long boozy lunch. Instead of lunch, I treated myself
to a session in the Thermae Spa and met up with them later. It was lovely. I've also lost 1lb since yesterday morning. I think planning ahead and not feeling deprived of a treat really helped.

Cheesyslice · 12/01/2014 15:51

That's great...I'm so jealous. Bath is beautiful. What did you treat yourself to at the spa?

I've found that planning is the way to crack this. We talk about it at group quite a lot and I find it's little things that help, like always keeping an 'emergency' bar in my bag in case I get delayed at work, or making up a food pack and keeping it warm in a flask for when I'm out and about.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 12/01/2014 16:57

The pool and steam rooms were the treat Smile

Cheesyslice · 12/01/2014 20:15

That's what I meant, sorry. Wondered what treatments you'd enjoyed Smile

IndecisivePramBuyer81 · 13/01/2014 20:18

Hi all!

I'm on day 3 of the Cambridge diet and feeling v inspired by some of the messages on this thread! I haven't quite managed all 900 odd though Smile

I have 3 stone baby weight to lose, plus 1, 1.5 stone PRE baby weight! Started at 15st 3 and aiming for around 10st 7 to 11st. I'm 5, 7.5.

Very hopeful for the speedy weight loss some of you have mentioned! Any tips for speeding things up? Am on Soul Source.

Grin
Cheesyslice · 13/01/2014 21:15

Evening all, welcome pram

2lbs off tonight. Yay.

I have made a decision...I need a treat evening. On weigh in day. I think this is going to be the only way I am going to stick to this. I'm not talking about bingeing or pigging out on thousands of calories. Just a little treat like a chocolate bar, or a small bag of crisps. I know that sounds bad, but I'm struggling with the restriction and getting tempted to have massive pig outs Blush

What do you guys think? Will this ruin it?

hiphipreplacement · 13/01/2014 22:19

Yes it will ruin it! You need to get out of the treat mindset, sorry. It will also kick you out of ketosis and you'll feel shit most days out of every week.

10 days in, one stone off.
