Hi,

I have ordered the 28 day simplicity pack to start after new year, it's 4 packs a day (soups, shakes and a meal plus a bar.) realisically how much can I expect to lose after the first 28 days, need to lose 2.5 stone, currently weigh 11.10 and am 5'2 thanks

CharlesRyder · 27/12/2013 17:37

Hi all!

I have just restarted today after having a week off for Christmas. I am going to step on the scales tomorrow to see what the damage is!! Not going back to group til the 6th Jan so hopefully there will be time to get back to where I left off.

Hello new starters/ restarters. Good luck with your first few days. Thanks

summerbreezer · 27/12/2013 19:07

MrsBradfield you can expect to lose a stone a month (sometimes more in the first month).

Good luck with the weigh in Charles.

MrsBradfield · 27/12/2013 20:03

summerbreezer thanks! Will keep checking in here for motivation, would love to be my target weight of 9.7 by April so deffo seems achievable!

CharlesRyder · 28/12/2013 09:46

Well, only 2lb more than when I broke off which doesn't seem too bad as some of it will be food 'in the system' as it were!! Grin 10 days now to absolve my sins!

Do keep coming in MrsBradfield, I expect there may be others along after New Year too. My goal is 9.7 too but I am expecting it to take a bit longer.

angelinterceptor · 28/12/2013 19:10

Hi everyone
I am taking a 10-14 days off plan for Christmas and holidays.

Have enjoyed the carbs and alcohol but looking forward to starting the plan again soon.

noswingpark · 30/12/2013 12:29

Hi all, can I join? I attempted s&s a few months back but don't believe I was in the 'zone' so didn't see it through. But as of January 1st I'm ready! I have 2wks worth of meals, shakes etc and am very excited and determined. I don't want to tell anyone in rl but am very inspired by all of your losses!

CharlesRyder · 30/12/2013 12:54

Hi, noswingpark. Welcome! I'm looking forward to there being more people around 'on plan'. Grin

What meals have you got in your set? I've just had a bowl of chilli- pretty tasty. Grin

noswingpark · 30/12/2013 13:17

I've got chilli, soup, porridge and cottage pie plus shakes and bars. I'm a vegetarian so its great that these are suitable!
I'm used to taking 2 caffeine tabs when I get up, can I still do this?
Are you doing s&s?

CharlesRyder · 30/12/2013 13:26

No, lighterlife, but my choices look similar. I mostly eat porridge, spag bol, chilli, cottage pie and bars.

Caffeine is ok on lighterlife but no diet drinks Sad. Something to do with the citric acid apparently. I find I drink less coffee than I did before out of choice. I think I used to use caffeine to counter the carb fog and effects of nightly wine.

noswingpark · 30/12/2013 13:39

How long have you been on it? Am I ok to add salt to my meals? I'm going to finish the Christmas food today and start tomorrow. I've had enough of feeling sick and bloated and eating just because its there. I just can't seem to stop.
I don't usually eat breakfast so am I ok to have a bar and shake in the evening, or is it better to evenly space the meals? Sorry for all the questions.

CharlesRyder · 30/12/2013 13:55

No worries! I don't know about the salt.

I don't think it matters when you eat your packs. TBH I find that when I'm in ketosis I'm not hungry at all so it's quite easy to forget to eat at all. It only works if you keep up your nutrients though- otherwise you will be ravenous as a survival mechanism- so I eat packs at 'meal times' as a routine. Having a pack and a bar together would be fine I think.

I did six weeks before Christmas. I think I have at least another six months to do on Total and then 'rehabilitation' back to food so very much only at the beginning of the journey!!

CharlesRyder · 30/12/2013 13:56

I find the main thing that makes a difference is water btw. If I drink 3L minimum a day I am not hungry and lose better. If I drop below that I get hungry, grumpy and don't lose as much.

noswingpark · 30/12/2013 14:18

I only drink water anyway so that part I will find easy. I don't like tea etc and don't drink any alcohol (just eat too much cheese and chocolate).
How much have you lost, if you don't mnd me asking? I need to loose 4 stone I'm 5'2.

CharlesRyder · 30/12/2013 15:59

21lb so far. But out of probably 7st altogether that I want to lose. The result of years of inactivity and having a baby. I am 5'7.

noswingpark · 30/12/2013 16:12

I have 4 children the youngest is 13mnths. I've had enough of being frumpy and unhappy.
Any tips to get me through tomorrow? Are the first few days really hard?

CharlesRyder · 30/12/2013 16:16

I think most people find the first 3 days tough, but if you can hold on to day 4 you have made it.

Keep busy! I restarted on the 27th after a week off for Christmas so I had to get back into ketosis. I also have a cold so I have been taking Day Nurse and I actually think that has really helped with the headaches/ fatigue that go with giving up carbs!!

Good luck, it will be worth it Thanks

noswingpark · 30/12/2013 17:03

Am I ok then to take paracetamol if I feel rough? The sensible thing to do would be start when children go back to school but I'm going to continue eating chocolate fingers and Pringles otherwise. Are you back in ketosis now?

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 30/12/2013 18:42

Hi everyone! I'm new to the thread. Thank you Charles for bringing me here Smile I'll have to read up!

DP and I are going to do VLCD for six weeks and are both nervous! I've done it before so know what to expect but DP hasn't - he eats a dozen times a day and has a huge appetite (hence gaining weight!) so am not sure how he will cope. I talked him into it though by saying he'll lose a couple of stone easy, maybe a little more, as he's a man. This would make a huge difference to how he looks.

No idea how much I could lose in six weeks. 21 pounds?? I hope so otherwise I'll get discouraged quickly! Sadly I am much fatter than DP.

Our food packs are coming tomorrow so all that remains is to decide whether we start on 1st January or 2nd Jan, when we go back to work...

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 30/12/2013 18:44

Oh and I wanted to ask you all - do you have skimmed milk in tea and diet drinks? My old Cambridge counsellor said both were fine but info is so conflicting!

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 30/12/2013 18:45

AND I'm wondering whether to scoff the last of the Christmas choc...

Sorry for multiple posts.

Cheesyslice · 30/12/2013 20:34

Omg I put four pounds on. Bugger.

Welcome new joiners

Cheesyslice · 30/12/2013 20:34

Duh Grin

noswingpark · 30/12/2013 21:03

Hi merry. I'm new too. What plan are you doing? I'm on s&s I've got 2 weeks worth so far, going to order more tomorrow. I'm nervous for my start but just need to stay focused. I have dress which is a bit tight that one stone should sort out. So that's my first goal for my birthday at the end of January.

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 30/12/2013 21:37

Hi noswing Smile I've ordered from Exante and have ordered two weeks to start with.
