Week 11 is looking rubbish for me, but I have been (and continue to be actually) poorly.

Really struggling today, not sure why as after 3.5 weeks I should be into my stride by now surely!

Can think of nothing except food Hmm

walkinghaphazardlybystarlight · 29/11/2013 21:04

WI today and lost 4lbs!

So 1 stone in 4 weeks :)

Mycat I hate that, I tend to find it's better the next day. I was seriously tempted by a hog roast and CAKE at the Christmas market but I didn't have anything, just came home and had a choc mint shake Grin

I really want to be 12 stone or less by January 1.

PopiusTartius · 02/12/2013 17:10

Hello

I've just started back on sole source. I did it, ooh, 6 or 7 years ago and lost 3 stones but in the last year or two my weight's crept back up again. Hoping to lurk and get thinspiration and encourage myself that this is possible again.

summerbreezer · 03/12/2013 10:05

Hello Popius, welcome. This is definitely possible. And what's more - maintaining is possible too.

Walking - well done! Really pleased for you. 1 stone in four weeks is awesome. I also want to be 12 stone or less by January 1st, so we have matching goals.

Cheesy, how was the trip? I hope there weren't too many slip ups.

Mycat I don't think the desire for food ever goes - and nor should it, we are humans and designed to eat it! I tend to treat myself like a naughty toddler, tell myself "you can't have that now" and then try and distract myself with something pretty and shiny.

Weigh in for me tonight, but not expecting great things. Keep going everyone!

angelinterceptor · 03/12/2013 12:38

I had only 1lb off this week; I know its better than nothing, but disappointing none the less.

Trying so hard to keep focussed and away from temptation, but all I can think of is food and chocolate and treats and so on.

PopiusTartius · 03/12/2013 13:40

"I tend to treat myself like a naughty toddler, tell myself "you can't have that now" and then try and distract myself with something pretty and shiny"

Actual laugh out loud at that. That sounds about right to me! :D

Jantutor · 04/12/2013 20:53

Hi All

good to hear from you and welcome to popious

Like many of you I am finding things challenging but managed a 4lb loss making 15.4lbs in 18 days. With 2 weeks to my holiday I'm hoping for another 8lbs.

To those who are feeling disheartened - stick with it - you're made of strong stuff and will feel better that you saw things through. My counsellor says no food is a cheat but if we must eat, stick to high protein foods and green veg. I took his advice (twice) and managed to lose 4lbs- I reckon giving the body a little of what it fancies might not be a terrible thing as long as the food choices are carefully selected and that you have the willpower to stop at that!

Bought a coat today (size 16 fitted) it looked so nice that I wore it straight away.

Has anyone heard from Charles? I hope all is well!

Stay strong ladies- you can do it!!!!

CharlesRyder · 05/12/2013 07:32

Hi there!

I lost 4.6lb last week which makes 15.6lb in three weeks.

I have had a bit of a wobble this week and fell off the band-wagon on Tuesday. I am firmly back on board though. Hopefully it won't show TOO much on the scales!! I learned a lesson because rather than being a pleasure, giving in actually made me feel 10 times worse, physically and mentally.

Keep going everyone!!

Cheesyslice · 07/12/2013 22:01

Herrooo ladies. Are we all well? My two European jollies (including bloody Michelin star food) resulted in a 4lb loss. Genuinely have NO fucking idea how this happened. I ate loads and got pissed. The only thing I can think is that it may have given my body a kick start as I'd hit a bit of a plateau prior to going abroad.

So, I started at 12st 8lba to the beginning of October and I'm this morning I was 10st 10lb. So two annoying little lbs and I'll have hit my 2st. Fingers crossed.

charles that's a great loss and I know what you mean about how a little pig out makes you feel. Crap, innit?

jan great news about that coat

pop welcome and good luck

summer how did the weigh in go, love?

CharlesRyder · 10/12/2013 07:19

Well, I was another 3.3lb down which is not too bad considering the wobble during the week. Makes 1st 5lb in the first month.

I am quite looking forward to January when I know there will be lots of new starters in the group and being able to feel virtuous about already being two months in!

Well done with surviving travel cheesy! You can get those two lbs this week!

How's everyone doing with parties?? Hmm

summerbreezer · 10/12/2013 13:40

Well done on your losses, Cheesy and Charles! Well done particularly on doing well whilst away Cheesy!

I have had a rubbish week. Haven't lapsed, but have felt sick, ill and desperately hungry all week - even though there is no reason why I shouldn't be in ketosis!

Weigh in tonight so we'll see. Good luck all.

Cheesyslice · 10/12/2013 16:59

Good luck summer. I'm getting back into ketosis and it's haaaaaard. So bloody hungry.

Charles 18lbs in a month is amazing.

I haven't actually got too many parties to go to but I have got my work do on the 19th. I'm going to have a night off but make wise choices. Food already pre-ordered so this makes it easier. Have you got lots to go to?

I have a mince pie craving.

Cheesyslice · 10/12/2013 17:00

Oh and I won a gorgeous Karen Millen parka off eBay. Absolute bargain, size 12 and it's too big! Annoying but pleasing at the same time.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 11/12/2013 15:37

Hi everyone! I was here a few months back and now I am... Here again Grin with my tail between my legs. Today is my first day.

Am I mad starting on a VCLD two weeks before Christmas? Possibly...

Looks like you're all doing brilliantly, well done! I plan on coming here regularly to keep me on track!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 11/12/2013 15:38

P.S. Don't know about anyone else but the choice of plus size party dresses in shops is making me want to hide and stay home in my pjs!

Also should have mentioned - currently weighing in at about 19st, would like to be 12st. Long road but here goes nothin'.

CharlesRyder · 11/12/2013 17:31

Hi Tiffany! I don't think you are mad for starting before Christmas. I know if I had waited for January I would have failed because it would have been a 'new year's resolution' and I would have started off expecting to give up. What plan are you on?

OMG cheesy I can only dream of a 12 being too big Envy Envy. Maybe that will happen sometime around august!!

CharlesRyder · 11/12/2013 17:34

PS I have almost decided to go for a run after DC bedtime this evening. EEK! Grin

Cheesyslice · 14/12/2013 19:58

Welcome tiffany

charles I want to start running. However I am built for comfort, not speed Angry Also live in the middle of nowhere and we have no street lights. Running through woods in the dark is not my idea of fun.

I've been a bit naughty this week, girls. Took my team out for drinks and got pissed on gin, then met DH in the pub and had a sharing platter. PIG. I'm desperately hoping I'll still take some weight off when I step on the scales on Monday. Can someone please give me some wise words to stay on track? I'm 2 stone down now...really want to shift another one.

How is everyone else anyway? What are your food plans over Christmas?

Cheesyslice · 16/12/2013 20:31

Come on ladies, you've all been very quiet!

Only a pound off for me this week. However, I'm actually really pleased with this as I had a pig out / piss up on Thurs night and I am amazingly bloated and hormonal. It's so bad I was sitting and my desk almost in tears today, so to go and weigh in and see 10st 9lbs on this ales wasn't too bad.

How is everyone else doing?

CharlesRyder · 17/12/2013 06:41

Well, I lost 2lb this week which i'm actually quite pleased with as I thought I hadn't lost anything. Not been cheating- just a natural SL week. Anyway it takes me to a stone and a half off.

I think now it's going to be my aim to maintain until Jan 6th when I'm going to hit it again with gusto. Not going to come off the packs just not going to completely deny myself on special occasions. We are taking ds to Lapland UK on Christmas eve and I want to be able to have a hot chocolate!!

Keep going cheese Grin

Cheesyslice · 18/12/2013 22:26

2lbs is great charles It's good that you've got a plan and are aiming to maintain. I'm desperate to get down to 10st 5lbs this week - that was my Xmas goal. I'm hoping that once my sodding period has gone and if I have a good week that I can hit this on Monday.

I'm still dying for a mince pie. A big fat one with massive raisins.

summerbreezer · 22/12/2013 20:03

Hey all, sorry for being rubbish and absent of late - the busy Christmas run in got on top of me! Well done on your losses Charles and Cheesy.

I have been losing a steady 2lbs a week, which is OK, but I would like a pound or two more. I am starting Zumba in the New Year which should hopefully help.

I know what you mean about mince pies, Cheesy - I got round my craving by baking them for my family and then watching them eat them. Sort of helped!

I went for a lovely afternoon tea today with my family. I wished I could eat with them, but I know I am doing this for a reason, and the moment we left the restaurant I wasn't upset about it at all. It is going to be tough next week, but I am trying to remember two things:

  1. CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT PEOPLE NOT FOOD. For too long, I have put my relationship with food above my relationships with people - my family, my friends, myself. Not this year.

  2. CHRISTMAS IS ONE WEEK OUT OF 52. I will not regret sticking with Lighter Life this Christmas over the next 51. This is about the bigger picture.

Good luck to everyone this Christmas - let's stick to the boundaries we have set ourselves, whatever they are.

Cheesyslice · 22/12/2013 22:01

Great post summer. It is indeed about anything other than food this year. I'm going to have packs as often as possible then try and make wise choices when I do eat.

Anyone know which is more calorific - prosecco or gin?

Jellypudmum · 26/12/2013 23:39

Have tried Lighterlife but piled weight back on a number of times. In a better head space now though although financially not able to pay Lighterlife prices. How do the prices and success rates of Xante, slim & save, Cambridge compare in your opinions please?

summerbreezer · 27/12/2013 12:37

Happy Christmas everybody! How did it go? I found it easier than I expected. I had the occasional pang of desire when the nice food came out, but was actually fine once everyone else was tucking into it.

It was also a bit of an eyeopener about portion sizes. My family eat massive portions - I just didn't realise it before. Obviously I haven't said anything to them, but it has been a good life lesson for me when I go back to normal eating.

Jellypudmum, I believe Slim and Save to be the cheapest, but have never tried it myself. I think Cambridge is about £40 a week (LL probably double that with the £15 counselling as well).

As for success rates, I think that is impossible to measure. All these diets have a 100% success rate if you stick at them and implement healthy eating habits after you finish, but of course it is all dependent on the individual.

Personally, I am really really hoping I manage to keep it off. I am 4 stone down now and happier than I have been in years. I am also more productive and motivated in every other area of my life.

However, should I put weight on again, I will be straight back to LL. This is the best way I have ever found to lose weight. Keeping weight off is a whole other battle.
