So I've had 2 pints of water already today so off to a good start. Went to bed feeling bloated and greedy so that has helped me feel more positive about seeing this through.

noswingpark · 31/12/2013 12:05

Me again! So I had my first shake a banana one. It was lovely and thick I mixed it with plenty of ice. Had a really nice flavour. Going to have cottage pie around 2.

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 01/01/2014 17:02

Right, I'm starting tomorrow. DP and I are DREADING IT.

I know the first few days are the worst... When does it get better?!

If anyone can answer my skimmed milk and diet drinks question I would be grateful! Smile

noswingpark · 01/01/2014 19:05

Merry it is tough very tough. But you have support at home. I don't know about the drinks, but I'm hoping it gets easier by day 4.

ellie74 · 01/01/2014 19:34

Hello,
can I join you? I have never done a vlcd, looking to start on friday with slim n save. Dreading the first few days...
Goal is 4 st down.
Good luck all!

Cheesyslice · 01/01/2014 19:39

merry it will get better after the first four days then after two weeks you won't be hungry any more as you'll be in ketosis. What plan are you on - this will depend on whether you can have milk.

I've got rid of two of the four pounds I put on so hoping for a good loss this week. I'd forgotten how important it is to drink tons of water.

Can I ask a strange question? Anyone not doing LighterLife or anything with group / counsellor support - how do you plan to keep the weight off when you reach your goal and reintroduce normal food? The reason I ask isn't because I doubt anyone's ability to keep the weight off, I just know it's harder than losing the weight in the first place and I have no idea how I would do it without the support of my counsellor / group.

summerbreezer · 01/01/2014 21:31

Hi everyone, particularly new starters. Happy New Year!

Cheesy - your glycogen stores are about 6lbs, so you will have that four off in no time at all.

Merry - on LL there are no diet drinks (although some people think coke zero is OK in moderation as it does not contain citric acid). Milk is out too - I have got used to black tea and coffee!

I had a fun new year, which unfortunately included prosecco and food. Back on the wagon today though, which is the most important thing.

noswingpark · 02/01/2014 09:50

How is everyone doing today? Merry have you had your first product yet? Is it just 3 products with exante? I don't think I could do just 3 that's what is good about slim and save with having 4 products (or maybe I should stop being so greedy).

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 02/01/2014 11:12

Morning all.

Thanks summer. Coke Zero will do if I can have it!

Hi noswing - am starving but waiting for midday to have my first product, a soup. Yes it's three packs a day but I reckon you could do four if you want. How are you getting on?

Am already worried about social things this month. Team lunch tomorrow, which I will just skip. Lunch with the girls in a few weeks and a friend sorting something else out - have asked we just go for coffee for that one! DP is rearranging a food tasting present we were given for Xmas. Nightmare!

I decided to quit smoking this month which I am now regretting.... Not sure I can do it all!

noswingpark · 02/01/2014 17:45

I'm on slim and save which is 4 packs a day (I've only had 2 packs been so busy playing the tooth fairy game). Its torture especially when my husband comes in and eats a whole Yule log in front of me!
How are you liking the taste of the products?

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 02/01/2014 18:39

Absolutely foul noswing. I thought the Cambridge Diet tomato soup was great. This one is DISGUSTING. I'm about to throw the risotto away. If the double chocolate bar is any good I'm going to have that 3x a day!

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 02/01/2014 19:01

The bar is bearable. What do I do now... Keep eating the disgusting stuff until I've finished it?! I've spent £200 for 2 wks stuff for DP and me

noswingpark · 02/01/2014 19:08

Oh dear that's not good! I actually like the taste of everything I have tried! Maybe try slim and save, its cheaper plus there is loads of choice. Do you have a variety of flavours in your pack? Fingers crossed some of the others are nicer.
How has your partner found it? Mine is here frying bacon, I've been vegetarian for 19 years (I'm 28) and it smells amazing Sad

noswingpark · 02/01/2014 19:10

£200! Yikes! Its a lot less on slim and save plus they keep posting great deals on ebay. I got a 4wk pack for £57 with 4 packs a day!

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 02/01/2014 20:01

I'll have a look at S&S noswing! I'm going to have to make do for the next two weeks though. Confused

DP is doing ok. He'll get irritable tomorrow I reckon...

noswingpark · 02/01/2014 20:09

Hope you find some products you enjoy, do you have a good variety (or chuck some of the gross ones in the direction of your dp).
The loo trips have been difficult with a 13mnth old who doesn't nap in the day. Its made me realise how little I have been drinking. Have you got shakes as well?

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 02/01/2014 20:41

Yes I have some shakes but not much variety!

Thankfully I've always drunk loads of water anyway so that's not much different. Do drink lots though - will be great for your skin as well as weight loss Smile

EachAndEveryHighway · 02/01/2014 20:48

Hi, can I join in ... horrified to find myself weighing 14st this morning! I've been burying my head in the sand thinking I was only a stone or a stone and a half over, but I really I could do to shift 3 st! So I've started on Exante today. Actually enjoyed the first day today, after the general over indulgence of Xmas and New Year ... my body really appreciated a rest. The next few days / weeks'll be harder ... but having you lot to chat to will make it easier I hope!

Cheesyslice · 02/01/2014 21:01

It's great that there are so many newbies on here now. Welcome peeps.

Well, happy days here. Got on the scales this morning and I weigh the lowest I have for about seven years. The four pounds of Xmas flab have gone and I've gone from 12st 8lbs at the beginning of October to 10st 6lbs. Very pleased. Also bought new running kit today and wheezed around the roads ran for half an hour. Walked an additional ten mins. Was shit at some points (hills) but felt great afterwards. Is anyone else thinking of taking up running? Would be great to have a buddy.

Those of us who enjoy the shakes - I bloody loving having the vanilla and the chocolate ones hot with two spoons of coffee in them. It's like a trip to Starbucks I bloody wish

noswingpark · 02/01/2014 21:23

Wow cheesy that's so inspirational. Well done. I was very tempted to go t bed with a tin of cadburys biscuits (yes I have and can eat a whole tin in one sitting). But I stayed strong had an icy water.
I would love to be your running buddy but I'm in west Wales.
Which plan are you on?

Cheesyslice · 02/01/2014 21:59

I'm on LighterLife lite noswing. It's been hard and I've still got a long way to go, but thank you for the compliment.

I looked up BMIs earlier - I'm five foot six and I'm a bit shocked that 8st 3lbs is considered healthy for my height? I'm convinced that's a bit on the skinny side...

Well done for resisting the biccies. Did you feel better for it? One of the things that helped me out when I started was hearing about instant vs long term gratification. This sounds wanky so bear with me but apparently we seek instant gratification a lot of the time (eg stuffing some biscuits). However when compared with long term gratification (eg resisting said biccies, losing weight and keeping it off), the eating bit just looks..well...shit. Every time I want to stuff my face which is frequently I try and run that through my head. Again, apologies if that sounds rubbish but I have found it useful. Also handy when my dad waves a bumper box of Jacob's crackers in my face like he did this evening Grin

ellie74 · 02/01/2014 23:15

I am starting tomorrow...I was wavering thinking that I would start on Monday after all but then watched Embarassing fat bodies and found new resolve!
I figured that if I start tomorrow it would also be better to be at home on day 2-3 to deal with headaches etc, not quite sure what to expect!
Hope that everyone is doing well :-)

anothernamechangerreally · 02/01/2014 23:24

Hello!

I have just read this whole thread (over a couple of days!), feeling very inspired!!

I have my first meeting with my CDC tomorrow and cannot wait to get started!! I have about 50lbs to lose (not weighed myself since start of Dec through fear of the number!) to get to the weight I was when I got married a couple of years ago. Really want to do this for my 30th this year!

I'm assuming my CDC will weigh me tomorrow, is that what normally happens?

Will try to post on here to stay motivated!

summerbreezer · 03/01/2014 00:06

Yay newbies! First few days are tough. I would personally advise avoiding temptations (lunches, dinners out etc) until you are a few weeks into the programme, feeling slimmer and happier.

I am also 5'6' Cheesy. I am now 12 stone 3 (4 stone 1lb down since 14th September..yay) and am a size-14 everywhere and a 12 in more generous shops.

At my lightest ever, 10 stone 12, I was a size 10. That is only just within the healthy BMI, but any less and I lose my curves.

I think that proves how different we all are and how our bodies carry weight completely differently. At 8 stone, I would be a size 6, which would be ridiculous. Congrats on all your weight loss though, you must be very proud.

Good luck all the new people. I can categorically say that this diet has been the best thing I have done in years. I have slept better and felt healthier. Even better, feeling in control of my food has translated to every other area of my life. I am now more motivated, more confident, more in control than I have ever been.

summerbreezer · 03/01/2014 00:12

anothername I think CDC will weigh you, yes. Sadly as a LLer I am a bit clueless on it! Good luck with your first meeting.

I am also 30 this year - let's be where we want to be for the start of our new decade!
