Cheesy I find explaining hard too. I saw someone on the train last night who I hadn't seen in ages. Their first comment was: "you look well". Which must be a reference to skin/hair etc as my weight loss was bundled away under a million jumpers and coats.

I explain LL (had to, we are supposed to be having dinner together soon). Next comment: "So you are starving your body?" Erm..you've just told me how healthy I look, so obviously not! Grrr. However, I do find people stop pestering me to have food once I have told them, so it does have its benefits.

I love how Zara large is a 14/16.

Jan well done on the weight loss! Such an achievement. Personally (and it all depends on gender/how big you are to begin with) I have lost between 2-4lbs a week. For a woman who is not in the morbidly obese category, I think 4lbs a week is a little ambitious - BUT you will still lose every week and before you know it, you are down a dress size. So keep going!

angelinterceptor · 21/11/2013 13:45

Well done everyone, I am finding it hard to get back on track after the planned break/weekend away/entertaining.

seem to be tempted by things and wanting "just a bite" - also forgot to order more supplies in , and have only the stuff I don't like left.

new order should come on Monday and i will struggle through the weekend with coffee and chicken.

i am finding clothes looser but not going shopping just yet, and weirdly too scared to throw out the jeans that are clearly too big and baggy on me.

mycatoscar · 21/11/2013 16:43

I've got a lunch out on Saturday. My grandad 80th and I will be on week 2 day 5 so have decided to start my add a meal week 2 days early and stick to meat and salad as I cannot face the comments if I tell the family about being on exante. Much easier to do it this way and say I'm not feeling well and don't have much appetite - which is true!

My only worry is going back to just meal packs, does anyone else find it hard after the add a meal week?

Jantutor · 21/11/2013 18:45

Cheesy you made me laugh - I've walking around looking at babies trying to figure which one weighs 11lb. My daughter was 1.8lb when she was born so that's 6 of my newborn daughter. But I can hardly believe it! He also measured me and I'd lost 9 inches across my tummy, hips, upper arms, top of legs and bust.

I've been floating all day and although monthly family shop was delivered, I have not once been tempted by the mass of goodies! Size 16 is definitely doable by my hols on 19th December.

Hope you're well.

Take care!

walkinghaphazardlybystarlight · 21/11/2013 20:14

Cheesey, well done! Grin I can't wait to be a healthy BMI - mind you, just not being "obese" would be good! I am still a good 2 stone away from that!

I can have bars as of tomorrow! Hurrah!

Jantutor · 22/11/2013 13:26

Hi a Summer you're right - I do need to be realistic ... Grrrrrrr! Would much rather hold on to the dream that I'll wake up in the morning a size 12 but dreams take work I guess!

Still buzzing from first week's results. On it 100%!

My next weigh-in is 1st December and I'll be posting my results.

In the meantime all you vlcders stay strong - focus on your goal!

Bye for now

Cheesyslice · 22/11/2013 14:28

walking Can you not have bars in the first week?

Saw someone I haven't seen for ages at soft play today and she shouted across the room 'Oh my god you look SKINNY!' Grin

walkinghaphazardlybystarlight · 22/11/2013 17:19

I was told I couldn't have them for two weeks?

Ladies, I'm devastated, I lost nothing, absolutely zero. How can this be? I've stuck to it, I swear - I'd be honest if I'd broken it, but I haven't.

CharlesRyder · 23/11/2013 06:28

Oh no walking how disappointing! Sad I can't remember which programme you are on- is it LL? If so what did your leader say?

Did you have a really good loss in your first week? If so it might just be your body catching up with itself and you will get another good loss this week. Or is it water retention caused by hormones- that can make a massive difference to my wieght?

Don't give up!!! It is inevitable that it will work. It's just not possible to eat less calories than you burn over a long period of time and not lose weight so it HAS to happen. The body is capable of all sorts of fluctuations in the process though. Angry

Cheesyslice · 23/11/2013 14:15

walking what programme are you on?

Cheesyslice · 23/11/2013 14:20

Sorry just read back and saw you're on Cambridge. Not sure exactly what this entails but weight loss does fluctuate... I had two weeks where I only lost two lbs but you are encouraged on LL to look at weight loss across the whole month, not just week by week. I lost 1lb last week but it was the wrong time of the month and since then I've dropped 3lbs. Your body will catch up with itself and the loss will show next week, honest.

Still bloody annoying though. Please don't get down heartened. That's the beauty of these diets: if you stick to them rigidly, they work. It can just be sporadic. Thanks

walkinghaphazardlybystarlight · 23/11/2013 18:12

Thanks cheesey :) Still upset but desperate to stick to it. I think the issue might have been some sleeping tablets I've been taking, so I'll stop taking those this week and hopefully weight loss will start again!

Wounded!!

Cheesyslice · 23/11/2013 20:06

I just had to launch two Smarties cookies out onto the front lawn. I'm home alone and there is a good chance I would have scoffed them otherwise Blush

Cheesyslice · 24/11/2013 19:20

I killed the thread with the Smarties comment, didn't I... Envy

Jantutor · 25/11/2013 00:40

Hi Walking my sentiments echo what others have said. KEEP GOING YOU WILL EVENTUALLY GET THE RESULTS!

As for the smartie comment Cheesy ... Grin It got me thinking about favourite sweets from my childhood: Kola Kubes, Pineapple Rock, Curly Wurly's and of course smarties ... My dad used to come home with a carrier bag full of those baddies every Friday evening (payday) and my siblings and I would sit up watching horror movies, munching away to our hearts content. Ah those were the days! It's funny how most of my childhood and adult memories involve food of some sort.

I'm an unapologetic foodie - but realise that here might not have been the right place to go all nostalgic - sorry ladies Blush - off to drink a pint of water as penance for my sins.

Have a great week ladies - I do not weigh (officially) until Sunday so I will need all resolve I can muster.

Stay strong VLCDers - it's exactly a month to Christmas!!!!!

summerbreezer · 25/11/2013 12:05

Keep going, Walking. Whilst it is no comfort now, a lack of weight loss demonstrates how well your body is working - it is supposed to be trying to keep the status quo, that's it's job! How amazing that it can do it on so few calories!

Weight loss goes against all the natural
Instincts of our bodies, which is why it is so hard. But you can and will win out in the end!

Cheesy, I totally get what you mean about having to dispose of things quickly to stop you eating them! I dream of a day when I can have a packet of biscuits in the house and not eat them all. Something of a distant dream from me.

And yay, Jan, one month to Christmas! We'll all be a stone or so lighter by then - think how amazing that will feel!

I will start the New Year feeling positive and in control about my weight. The last time I did just was New Year 2008. That really is something to aim for.

Keep going everyone.

walkinghaphazardlybystarlight · 25/11/2013 19:01

Still hanging on, don't worry! I'm trying not to think about it too much. I a worried though, I can't understand how I didn't lose any weight at all. I'll see what this friday brings without sleeping tablets!

Had to sit in Burger King yesterday - that was tough!

Cheesyslice · 25/11/2013 20:32

Mmmmmm jan those sweets sounds bloody lush.

summer you sound really positive. You are definitely on to a winner there.

walking how are you getting on? Thanks

I weighed in tonight - 4lbs off! Makes up for that shitty 1lb loss last week. I wore this Warehouse dress to work today. IN A SIZE 12. It was the burgundy one which I got on eBay, and I popped into Oxford St on the way home and treated myself to the black one. Happy days. I still wore a cardi over it as I'm not that brave yet and my hips still have plenty of padding! However, I will get there.

Off to Brussels with work at the end of the week. Will be a nightmare as will be force fed food and wine. Ordered tons of bars this week to see me throu when I'm travelling and my group gave me loads of tips on how to not end up undoing all the hard work. Fingers crossed.

How is everyone's evening?

angelinterceptor · 26/11/2013 12:27

I had a 2lb loss this week - desperately slow considering everyone else seems to be having 3-4lbs off per week.

trying to be very focussed in the run up to Christmas - would be super if I could do another stone by then, which would bring me near the 3stone mark.

Still getting so many negative comments from so called friends in RL - i think this is spurring me on to prove them wrong.

good luck everyone

LoisEinhorn · 26/11/2013 16:42

I'm on CWP. Lost 6 in the first week, next weigh in on Thursday. I'm struggling with not eating though, bread and crisps are my downfall.

Cheesyslice · 26/11/2013 19:49

angel what have your 'friends' been saying?

summerbreezer · 27/11/2013 09:02

Cheesy that dress is awesome! Now to get that cardi off! My office is open plan with an aisle through the middle of the desks. This morning, I decided to treat it like a catwalk (in my head, only!) and strut down it to my desk. No idea if anyone noticed, but I enjoyed it!

Angel people who bring you down are not worth your time. They should be happy because you are happy. that means you too, mum

Lois Well done - that is a great loss! Keep going, the first weeks are often the hardest. Once you notice the difference, you will be flying.

4lbs for me this week - not sure what has happened to my body at the moment! That is 8lbs in two weeks!

angelinterceptor · 27/11/2013 10:47

Reading everyones successes is what keeps me going really - keep posting please.

I have one in particular RL 'friend' who has not once commented in a good way. Surely it must be noticeable by now that i have taken off nearly 2 stone?

I see her about once every week or 2, so no excuse - last time she said something like
"Are you still on that diet?"

WTF sort of comment is that?

Or more usually its
"but you do realise you are just going to pile it on again when you start eating again"

For the record, she thinks I am on a very low carb diet - she would never shut up if i told her i was doing VLCD.

This from a person who once or twice a year, goes on a FAST or Juice only detox kind of thing.

do you think she is just jealous maybe? She is taller, richer and therefore can afford time and money for clothes, haircuts and colours, botox etc - so no idea really why she might be jealous. Its exhausting putting up with it, but my DH and her DH are friends, as are our DC, so we do have to socialise from time to time.

I am out to dinner with her this Friday - she will watch me like a hawk - 4 course dinner to negotiate.

walkinghaphazardlybystarlight · 27/11/2013 20:01

I'll be utterly distraught if I STS this week! I really shouldn't have last week; I was 100%. I hope it was just an issue caused by sleeping tablets.

Cheesyslice · 27/11/2013 21:58

summer that's an amazing loss. Bet you feel fab.

angel your mate is jealous. Fact. Fuck what she thinks, you make your own choices.

walking when do you weigh in?

Off to Brussels tomorrow. None of my colleagues know I'm on the diet - got a bag full of bars to get me through. Just going to survive on them and make wise food choices when I have to. Fingers crossed...
