Welcome one and all to The New Thread !

Results for me on Slim and Save 10 weeks = 42 pounds!

Week 11 is looking rubbish for me, but I have been (and continue to be actually) poorly.

Come and make yourselves comfy...

Havent read the whole of this thread but ive just given a local Cambridge consultant a ring. Ive got almost 4 stone to lose Am popping round to see her tommorrow. Ive been trying to diet myself since mid April living on Weetabix fish and veg. Ive lost some cos clothes are loose but its taking so long and ive also been getting intermittent diarraheoa with it.
Eleven years ago i lost 10 stone at Slimming World. Is this Cambridge thing going to be doable for me? I have an appointment to discuss it with the consultant tomorrow.

DH is already moaning about me doing this even though ive been mentioning that i might for the past couple of months. Not a word from him until i actually phoned the consultant today though.

DH is moaning about signing up to a contract or subscription I take it thats not the case with this though.

Report

He said not to sign a contract and tie our money up.

I dont know much about cambridge, although i am sure that one of the others will know about contracts etc.

There is no contract with Slim and Save darkest if that is the only thing worrying him. You can buy as much or as little as you like - postage is £4.99 for each order.

I started off with two weeks worth (the taster pack plus a few extra shakes) to see how it was. It worked really well for me.

Hello and welcome to everyone. Managing to stick to it with a cheeky wee prawn salad. Still no alcohol or ice cream. Much tougher on holiday when you want to relax and indulge. However shorts and vest without embarassment is making up for it slightly.
My dh has been so supportive with shopping and cooking. He knew that I wasnt happy and is enjoying the newish me and the happier me, altho not there yet.

I don't mind not having a counsellor as long as there is this thread and if there is a forum on S&S then that would be great. I might just order some and see what it's like. LL works out about £72 pw which is alot and if I can get the same results for less then I have to look into it.

My DH is really supportive but he must have the patients of a saint cause I'm always trying to loose weight one way or another (obviously, not very sucessfully!). I don't know if I could handle swapping things around during the week, but that's just me.

Can't believe it's the end of day 2 and I'm not tempted at all, usually eating my fingers by now lol.

£72 pw yikes.

S&s is about £39 pw for four packs a day.

Ll is expensive. U pay for 4 weeks counselling up front and then your food on top. Works out about 55 for 3weeks then week 4 is about 115!!! Too much money not to dp it seriously. And u pay if you re not there. My holiday means missing 3 weeks of weighin/ counselling but still have to fork out. Big con i know!!!

My Cambridge diet consultant has just been and she is amazing! So motivational and excited to work with me.

I didn't have to sign any contract and just pay her weekly when she comes (£42). This is what I will save on shopping anyway.

She did all my measurements and I need to lose exactly 6 stone to be in my ideal weight category. I even got to try some samples and she gave me a few freebies - I feel really positive now - she is good for my self esteem! I can do it!

Hope everyone else is getting on ok today!

Well done Smokin, fantastic getting into your BMI. It is posts like that that keep me going.
Thank you so much for all your welcomes.
Jellybean, thanks for the info about Slim and Save. The porridge I am really struggling with with Exante, it is just so, uhmmm sweet and watery. Def going to be getting meals and bars from slim and save and thinking of binning the porridge.
Ha ha yes agree I was very anti VLCD until I got into this state and have seen them work!
Horsedentist I know it is so hard telling people you are doing this. No real reason just I don't need anything negative about me whilst I am battling! DH doesn't really know what to do; he is really supportive but when I complain I am starving bless him he tells me I look ok and just to go and eat :-/

Thats great Lauren but i want to decide what weight i want to be GP once told me to get down to 12 stone. And told me NOT to go below 10 stone 6 as it would be wrong for my height and build (hourglass with big boobs)

Thanks for posting about the contract question though Lauren DH is looking for reasons for me not to do this.
Shock but not surprised at the price of LL Alright for people like Denise Welch. They can afford it.

You can make the porridge with less water and make them into biscuits, I've not tried them but do have a porridge pack to try it out.

Ive just skimmed through the old thread. Really scared that im not going to be able to do this. Stuff about hair falling out (this actually did happen to my mum when she did Cambridge in 1990) And the maintenance plan scares the shit out of me. (if i even get that far) Im not really a meat eater. Bit worried now.

Morning darkest. I wonder if you wouldn't be better doing Biwi's boot camp over on the low carb board. It works on the same idea as vlcd in that it induces ketosis and that is what burns the fat, but it isn't about weighing or measuring, no calories restriction and much easier to start with and get your head around than this.

It will take longer to lose 6 stone than vlcd, but if you stick to it, low carb really does work. It is what I am planning to do for maintenance.

I am not trying to put you off! I certainly haven't noticed losing hair!! But ultimately if you are ready to lose weight but are worried about this then you would be better trying something less scary to you.

I was a total sceptic before I started this. That is why I only bought two weeks worth! I nearly stopped after 2 weeks, but pushed through the doubts and uncertainty and it has been the best decision I have ever made.

Best of luck with your decision. If you want to give it a go, I would look at s&s that I linked upthread and try the taster pack. Whatever you choose I wish you the very best of luck. xx

How is everyone doing today? I've been very good this week but not drank all my water. Don't think I've lost much this week tho (week 2) maybe 2lbs. Did anyone else not lose a lot on their 2nd week?
Smokin have a lovely weekend away with your new fella. Looks like it's gonna be a scorcher of a weekend.

Lauren you sound so ready to do this! Glad your meeting went so well and you clicked with your counsellor and she's right, you can do this Smile

scone have bit the bullet and ordered a week of S&S, it's a very similar range to LL but wow the price! Hope they taste as good as I expect, it would make such a difference. Packs should be here Mon - I can't wait!

Darkest Please don't let other peoples stories put you off, I think you should just take each day as it comes and see how it works for you. Really don't need to worry about maint now, I'm not a big meat eater, but I'll find a way cause I think the excitment of being at my goal will be the motivation to keep me on track. I have 6st to loose as well and it seems like a tall order just now but with good support and positive attitude we can do this Smile

Maggie you know that 2lbs is still a loss, but drinking the water really does speed things up for some people. I have seen posts on other forums where people have weeks where they loose very little or stay the same, but the following week is usually a big loss. Stick with it you will see the results.

Jolibee my DH is the same, if I say I'm hungry he tells me to have a piece of toast - that won't hurt Hmm he really doesn't get it bless him.

Well, here I am day 3, still have a stinking headache but have co-codamol which seems to deal with it and hopefully will be in ketosis tom so it should be gone. Have a great day everyone!

Hi All :)

First shake done and wasn't as bad as I expected! Chocolate Mint yum :) I am going to try adding some ice next time too when I blend it!

Darkest I had lots of fears but my counsellor went through them -I had agreed with hubby when I started that I would trial it and see if it for me. So far so good on day 1 lol.

Laura hope your headache disappears soon!

Thanks ladies I have 3 stone to lose before a get to my happy weight. If i lose 4 i will see that as a bonus. I have lost a stone since April by myself. I lost ten stone at Slimming World ten/eleven years ago.
After much thought i have decided this Cambridge isnt for me. I just got a bit impatient The weight is coming off slowly but surely I did get gallstones when i was at SW so i have been through hell before myself. I am going to carry on as i was doing as it is working. Will up my excersise though. Good luck to you all You are showing amazing willpower.

This is from another thread I have had problems before even though the weight loss was successful at SW So my fears come from experience.

I lost a stone a month for seven months. And a year to lose the final 3 Do you still have a gall bladder? Im asking because i developed gallstones through losing the weight so quickly I was back and forth to hospital for ten months. The pain was so bad that the first time they thought it was a heart attack. Besides the toing and froing to casualty i also had GPS come out to give me morphine injections. On Christmas Eve 2002 the doc miscalculated the dose and i spent Christmas Day in hospital recovering from an overdose. They then gave me morphine pills which would melt under the tongue whenever i had an attack It was the only med that would kill the pain. Near the start of developing gall bladder disease i was hovvering up Paracetamol Tramadol mixing them ANYTHING to kill the pain.
Now whenever i drop my portion sizes i have sharp s pains all over my stomach and back. I did have my gall bladder removed in April 2003 9 months after gallstones started but God knows what long term damage its done ..both the gallstones and the cocktail of drugs i was taking in desperation before morphine was finally prescribed.

Lauren1204 · 05/07/2013 14:03

One of the things my consultant asked me was if I had a history of gallstones.

Luckily for me I had mine removed about 2 years ago. The pain from them was worse than childbirth!
