I have done 2 days and it hasn't been as bad as i expected. I have kept myself busy here in work, there are no treats here, so just avoiding the Nespresso coffee is the hard bit. But sure I can have one on Friday can't I?

Hardest part for me is making the DC their meals, buttery toast, ham & cheese omelete this morning; real spag bol for tea, not the frankly very mushy shepherds pie I was having.

I think on the whole this is going to suit me fine, I quite like mashed up stuff and milkshakes and smoothies.

good luck everyone

summerbreezer · 18/09/2013 08:44

Absolutely, Chesty - it's almost like I want an excuse, even though I don't really! Glad it's not just me.

I actually feel really healthy today (apart from obviously diagnosing myself with various ailments - because my heart, which has been trooping on tremendously under five stone of flab, suddenly can't cope with an actual diet. Yeah, right!)

Hi Angel, well done on the two days! The end is in sight - I went into ketosis on day 4. How are you feeling? I think Nespresso is just normal coffee, isn't it? If so, you can have it whenever you like, just without milk.

How are you feeling, Chesty? Are things improving digestively?

ChestyNut · 18/09/2013 12:59

angel not sure bout as but on LL it's black coffee only.

summer things seem to have "cleared" up today Grin

Non food treat of cinema tomorrow night. Going to see insidious 2, surely fright burns off calories, right?

Exantevirgin · 19/09/2013 07:46

Hi everyone just wanted to update u all. So I've carried on with this, even though I only lost four pounds and thought that couldn't be right in two weeks!

Doc advised me to have blood taken so had this done on tues and still awaiting results. Got weighed yesterday and... Put a pound back on?!! Wtf?!! [Confused]

I think I am the worlds first person that this diet does not work for. So disappointed !

angelinterceptor · 19/09/2013 10:03

ExanteVirgin - Oh I am sorry you are having a hard time on this diet. Everyone else seems to have such positive stories, I have only done 3 days and I am determined to see out the month and see what happens.

I am a bit like you though, on lots of other 'diets' I would do with my DH, he would lose lbs and I wouldn't. Even though he has nothing to lose, I swear if he gave up bread for a couple of days only it would make a difference.

So not fair.

I hope you get sorted, and no more sneaky weigh-ins during the week.

Exantevirgin · 19/09/2013 10:17

Thanks angel and yes you're right about the husband thing. When I started this diet, he started calorie counting on my fitness pal and he lost 6 pounds in a week!! So unfair !!

summerbreezer · 19/09/2013 23:05

Exante, sorry you're having a rubbish time. Are you drinking enough water? I hear that water retention can be a real issue. You can't have put weight on - you need a surplus of 3500 calories to do that, and you aren't having that.

Hopefully the blood tests will give you some answers. Keep going.

HerNibs · 20/09/2013 11:01

Hello All!

I'm hoping there might be room for me to squeeze my (rather rotund) self onto this thread.

Have just started day 2 of s&s after finally having enough of being overweight and constantly being on, and failing every diet I've ever tried (and I think I've tried them all but the vlcd ones !)

I have read through the whole thread and am very inspired by your stories and would love to be able to give and receive support from others in the same boat. Like many others , only my husband knows ( I'm too embarrassed to wax lyrical about yet another 'amazing new diet ' ) although when people start to notice I will be happy to fill them in Wink

My start weight yesterday was 16st6 and in total id like to lose about 5 st. I know I feel healthy, confident and look good around 13st so that is my initial goal zone Grin

So looking forward to waving bye bye to sore knees, hips and back!

asandwichshort · 20/09/2013 13:05

I started out last week (Tues) on cambridge at 16 6 and am now 15 10. I did this diet 6 years ago and got down to 11 8 as I was on a roll and found it very easy to do!! I wasnt even down to a bmi of 25 but actually I looked gaunt. this time my goal is 13 7 where I sat comfortably for a number of years until a bit of an emotional crisis this last year which has caused me to eat eat and eat all the wrong things til i was fit to burst. I'm now using cambridge to get "the thick of it off" and then progress to a slimming world type way of eating to keep myself right! Good luck to everyone on the crusade to feel comfortable in your own skin!! Thats my goal!!

HerNibs · 20/09/2013 16:24

Asandwich, wow, 10lbs in a week is great! Hope my first week goes as well!

I lost 2 1/2 stone with slimming world last year before my wedding, but due to the lack of portion control and my love of wine, I have regained all but 2lbs of that loss. The amount I have lost in the last 12 years added up in total would actually mean I was actually minus 2st Confused

Need to totally re-educate my way of thinking about food, I use it to relieve stress, when I'm happy to celebrate, when in sad to cheer me up...no wonder I got so big and never kept it off before...

No looking back now, just forward with determination to finally conquer my good demons.

Good luck for another great week this week sandwich Grin

asandwichshort · 20/09/2013 16:47

Thanks!! I think I use food in the ways you describe and also in a funny way to punish myself. its really like an addiction to food that needs sorting out funny I'm not addicted to lettuce or sprouts though mostly chocolate and cake!!!

summerbreezer · 20/09/2013 20:22

Hi all!

HerNibs - the first few days of a VLCD are hard - but I've just finished my first week and feel fantastic. I am constantly 'full' (neither hungry or overstuffed), sleep amazingly and can already see the weight loss.

The thing I am trying to remember is that this diet desks with the symptoms, not the problem itself. I am using it to get rid of the fat, but I know the fat will all go back on again unless I revolutionise my relationship with food. To that end, I'm reading 'Beyond Chocolate' and can definitely recommend it!

angelinterceptor · 20/09/2013 21:27

Well done newer than me people. I have almost finished day 5.
It's been OK didn't even get the headaches or get really hungry.

Still keeping it a secret so had to make a fee excuses why I wouldn't eat or take a drink today. Also pretended I was having a protein shake as that would be more 'acceptable'

Have been tempted by toast, mini cooked sausages and the 2 giant chocolate bars that my DH brought back from a work trip for the DC.

Keeping busy over weekend so not too worried.

Monday is weigh in.

angelinterceptor · 23/09/2013 08:57

One week on S&S for me DONE!

10lbs off - I am amazed, I know the first week can be impressive, but that is more than enough to motivate me to keep this up.

The weekend is definitely the hardest time for me, I am busy here at work and there is very little to tempt me, and the DC know not to give me anything after school etc.

Is there a typical loss for future weeks on this VLCD?

How is everyone else doing?

IShallWearMidnight · 23/09/2013 09:15

WOW angel congratulations! Flowers. Generally they figure a stone a month is average - if you have a lot to lose it can be more in the first few months. I aim for 2-3 lbs a week which is low enough that I can quite often "beat" my target, but takes account of TOTM variations.

Week 3 weigh-in for me and I'm 16lbs down in total, only 34 to go then the hard work starts

Exante - any update from your tests?

Progress reports anyone?

angelinterceptor · 23/09/2013 11:01

well done IShallWearMidnight and I guess i wouldn't be too upset with a stone a month.
I have about 6 to lose though - so that seems a far way off

ChestyNut · 23/09/2013 15:07

Thread fell off my list!

Still here, had a couple of planned days off for events and just finding it sooooo hard ATM Sad

Well done everyone.

asandwichshort · 23/09/2013 20:25

Hi! 2nd weigh in 5lbs off - so thats 11lbs altogether with Cambridge. Doing fine - never hungry - just wish I was about 6 weeks down the line !!!! Got a 'do' to go to this weekend so hoping I can resist temptation and keep on track. Good luck to everyone else!

summerbreezer · 23/09/2013 22:10

Sorry you're finding it hard, Chesty. How long have you been on it now? In some ways, I feel like I am waiting for my life to start again after the diet. I know I need to do it, and I know it has to be this way - I haven't learnt to respect food boundaries. But I do miss food, desperately. A new Vietnamese pop up restaurant is opening in my area. I nearly made a booking to go...then I remembered.

Congratulations all on your excellent losses. Weigh in for me tomorrow!

ChestyNut · 24/09/2013 09:33

8 weeks summer

I think it was the days off for events as found the first 6weeks easy.
Slippery slope you see Sad

How was weigh in?

Bar and black coffee it is.

Exantevirgin · 24/09/2013 18:47

Thanks for asking midnight. All tests were clear?!! My doc is confused too so he is referring me to an endocrinologist for further tests! It's all such an unfair mystery

ChestyNut · 25/09/2013 21:28

Week 8- 7lbs off

Yay me Smile

Exantevirgin · 26/09/2013 18:09

Well done chesty and to even get to week eight is anazing in itself!!

summerbreezer · 26/09/2013 23:39

Well done Chesty! Really great loss for week 8, and with you feeling a bit rubbish at the moment too.

angelinterceptor · 29/09/2013 18:56

I am coming up to 2 weeks done - WI tomorrow.

I wont lie, the weekends are really really hard, as I struggle to drink enough water and keep away from temptation.

Yesterday I confess I ate a rice crispy bun - and i felt so bad for 'cheating'.

Oh, well tomorrow is another day.

On the good side, my DH cooks me lovely chicken at the weekends, to get me away from the tiny teeny meal packs which pretend to be an actual meal.
