Welcome one and all to The New Thread !

Results for me on Slim and Save 10 weeks = 42 pounds!

Week 11 is looking rubbish for me, but I have been (and continue to be actually) poorly.

Come and make yourselves comfy...

Euuuuw just had an out of date pack and it was awful Envy

summerbreezer · 30/09/2013 22:16

Urgh, grim, Chesty!

How did the weigh in go, Angel?

I find that one week I can't get enough of a pack, next week it makes me feel physically sick to even contemplate eating it! Very odd.

angelinterceptor · 01/10/2013 12:55

2 weeks done, 2.5 lbs further off - a bit disappointed to be sure, but thats because I cannot believe eating 650cals per day wouldnt have it dropping off more than that.

I love the shakes, and can manage fairly easily Mon-Fri - but struggling at weekends specially to remember to drink enough water.

I am definitely sticking to at least 4 weeks of this, and probably more
according the the rough goal weight i have given myself, i am 12% done

IShallWearMidnight · 01/10/2013 13:09

dropped off TIO Sad.

As expected this week was only -1, but it was TOTM, I haven't been drinking enough water, AND I found the biscuits twice. Blush.

But, a new week is a new start, and as I didn't actually put any weight on, I'm still on track, and i've just calculated I'm a third of the way there Grin.

Have had a out of date pack before too - it was foul.

isshoes · 02/10/2013 20:02

Hello there, room for a little one? Well, not so little actually. Have started on slim and save today. Been planning it for a month, but due to an overseas business trip and a holiday, was not able to start until today.

So far not so bad. Had a crispy vanilla shake for breakfast (nice), the chocolate and coconut bar around 12 (passable), chicken curry noodle soup for lunch (ok but a bit chemically tasting) and the spag Bol with some broccoli. That was quite nice but very watery, even though I used the right amount of water.

Feeling pretty positive about this and seeing it as a means to an end. Of course the difficulty will be maintenance, which I am already thinking about. I am wondering whether after refeed, I could do the 5:2 plan, and perhaps 3 of the meal packs on the fasting days?

Anyway, I will cross that bridge when I come to it. For now I am focusing on getting through the first week, and the first big challenge which will be another overseas trip in just under two weeks....

By the by, I would like to lose at least two stone, but 3-4 would be nice!

mollyringwald · 03/10/2013 10:03

Hi! I've joined mumsnet today but have been following this thread for some time. I've been looking into slim and save and am one click away from ordering the starter pack. Is this worth it? Will the weight loss be the same as the more expensive vlcd plans (which I cannot afford). Im quite excited!

ChestyCoffin · 03/10/2013 11:07

Morning all.

Good luck new starters.

molly have no experience of slim and save but sure someone will be along soon.

Had a crappy week and a gain but am back at it now. Onwards and downwards!

isshoes · 03/10/2013 11:18

Hello Molly,

I am on day two of s'n's so can't comment on how effective it is compared to others, but my reasoning on choosing it was a) the meals all sound very similar on most of the plans and b) it's reasonably cheap (less than a normal week of food for me) so why not just give it a go? You can always choose the sample pack.

IShallWearMidnight · 03/10/2013 11:39

IME (I did Cambridge previously, friends have done Lighter Life) - with the more expensive ones you're paying for the counselling. The meal packs are broadly similar, with slight variations in the calorie content (so some say three packs a day as total meal replacement, some say 4).

So, if you know why you eat to have got into the position you're in, and are able to change that, then go for it. If you need the counselling as well, then it's probably worth the extra. Although personally i'd spend the extra on separate counselling as although my Cambridge woman was lovely, we just chatted, and friends LL sessions were dominated by one or two "talkers" and the rest of the group didn't get much of a look-in. Appreciate all are different though.

Having a rough week here, personal stuff and temper tantrums mine Blush causing crisps and chocolate fails and a partly broken kindle Sad. Plus not enough water again. I know all this stuff, why do I choose to let it go wrong?

Anyway, back on track as of this morning, I will not let domestic and personal stuff get in the way of this.

IShallWearMidnight · 03/10/2013 11:41

oh, re weight loss, if you stick to the plan, the loss should be the same on any of them. I'm doing S&S as it seems to be the cheapest around.

angelinterceptor · 03/10/2013 12:50

I am doing SnS - cos i saw it recommended on here - otherwise I haven't really heard of any of them.
Plus in real life, no-one really talks about them, or doing them - I think there is still a bit of a stigma attached.

I am in week 3 - and would ideally like to stick it until the end of the year, IF i can stick it this long.

Moxiegirl · 03/10/2013 17:31

Hello, I'm on day 2 of slim and save too Smile
Not tried this one before but liking the variety and have just ordered 28 days worth (sample pack for this week)
I have lots of stones to lose Hmm
Previously attempted various diets, most lost was 3 stone on lighter life but gave up due to various issues going on at the time.
I have high hopes for myself this time...!

TheFalconsmistress · 03/10/2013 19:06

Had my dd 2 weeks ago so going to wait another couple of weeks before starting but I need baby weight off as my back is really sore i'm way up at 18st. I have tried slim and save before food packs were a bit hit and miss but it was ok, I actually lost the most doing mfp but i don't have time to plan with a new baby so need the convenience for me.
Any new vlcds I have missed thats worth looking at before I start?

isshoes · 04/10/2013 19:50

Evening all. Am slightly paranoid that I've broken the thread, but just going to breeze on through. Today was a good day. Had oatmeal for breakfast which was nice, if a little powdery, followed by the praline bar which was good, a crispy chocolate shake, and then this evening the best meal I have had so far- chili con carne with some mushrooms and green pepper that I 'fried' in a little water. Was very tasty. Now enjoying a nice bottle of coke zero.

How is everyone else getting on?

summerbreezer · 04/10/2013 20:04

Good luck to all new starters! I'm doing LL, because I know I need the support and counselling to keep the weight off, but I imagine they are all much of a muchness when it comes to the actual content. I was spending so much money on nights out and 'binge food' that I think I am saving money!

Didn't have a great week - followed plan exactly but only lost 1lb. Feel like I need a better return than that to keep motivated, but I am enjoying not feeling guilty about food.

mollyringwald · 05/10/2013 11:48

So....I have started today. I didn't order the trial pack from slim and save because I'm not a big soup fan unless its very thick and creamy and wasn't sure if the soups on plan would be quite watery? So for this week I'm just doing shakes. Is anyone else just doing shakes? I'm not feeling hungry but my mind is constantly thinking about food if I can get through the weekend I know it will be a lot easier.

ChestyCoffin · 05/10/2013 15:02

Weekends are haaaard.

What are you all doing to distract you from the fridge?

isshoes · 05/10/2013 17:23

I have met up with some friends for shopping. I know it would involve lunch and it would be the first challenge for me, so I decided to allow myself one extra bar. So i had a bar with tea when we went for a drink, then when they had lunch I had two cups of tea and another bar. I am now in the car ready to go home and have just had a shake. Caramel - lovely. going to try spicy spaghetti for dinner. Feeling very motivated and excited about it all.

Molly- I get what you're saying about the soups but why did you choose to go just shakes? The bars are very nice, as are some of the meals. So far I can recommend spag Bol, chili con carne, oatmeal and porridge.

Moxiegirl · 06/10/2013 11:56

I think I must be in ketosis Grin
Woke up feeling great and ten pounds down since last Wednesday!
I can do this!

isshoes · 06/10/2013 13:16

Well done! I too am feeling great, and am 6 pounds down since Wednesday. However I am not sure I am in ketosis, because the ketostix say I am not, and I have no strange taste in my mouth or anything. However, I am not too hungry, and am enjoying the meals, and feel in control for the first time in a long time, so I am just going to carry on and trust that I will continue to lose weight.

Moxiegirl · 06/10/2013 13:34

Oh well, you're losing weight so it's all good! I don't have a strange taste either, but I will get some breath spray just in case Wink

summerbreezer · 06/10/2013 14:15

Weekends are tough. I have filled up every night of the week bar one and every weekend until Christmas with activities - anything to distract me! I am off to the theatre lots, am doing college courses - I've even got myself some counselling to deal with food and other issues!

This is time for me. Well done everyone on their great starter losses - those are so encouraging. Week four for me. I never thought I would get this far!

ChestyCoffin · 06/10/2013 16:04

Well done all.

Must drink more water, am a swim with black coffee!

angelinterceptor · 06/10/2013 19:17

Great work everyone -
I am 3 weeks tomorrow.

had a bad day today, have eaten a mini flapjack, small bag of crisps and some of my DC Haribo.

It felt like old time, completely out of control eating. Feeling really sick with myself now. What a stupid thing to do.

summerbreezer · 06/10/2013 20:18

Angel! Do not beat yourself up. Gives Angel virtual slap.

That kind of thinking is what got you into this position in the first place - all or nothing, you are either out of control or in control.

You had one slip up, it is not the end of the world. Tomorrow is a new day. Make yourself a nice hot drink, watch Downton Abbey and remind yourself of all you have achieved in only three weeks.
