Welcome to thread 12 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting in your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer clothes!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry ~ NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get into a smaller size for summer, just think how we could look for next Christmas!

Hi Ladies
How was everyone's day.? Grin

BigBoobiedBertha · 11/07/2013 22:43

Hi everybody.

I had a busy day actually Rules. Yesterday was a bit odd and I was going to tell you all about it but I haven't had the chance.

I went and had lunch with my friends. One I hadn't seen for ages and the other I saw last August. When I last saw her she had just started using a personal trainer. She had never been sporty, hadn't exercised before but seemed to be enjoying doing the training and was feeling the benefits. Anyway, I spoke to her on the phone a couple of weeks ago and she was saying how people think she is younger than her years (she is nearly 48) and I have to agree, she did look good. She hasn't descended into middle age frumpiness which I think helps.

Anyway, I turn up yesterday and I am actually quite shocked how thin she is. She has always been slim with an 'apple's muffin, but her arms and legs are soooo bony. It turns out that her trainer has put her on a low fat, low carbs, high protein diet to get rid of the muffin. I thought of you all and wondered what the hell she was doing really. It has aged her as she has no padding left and when you lose it on your face that is a bad thing. Your elbows and your knees can give away your age, I think and hers certainly did. Problem is that I am in no position to say anything because I don't currently look at all healthy either but for the opposite reason, too much weight! I also think her diet is frankly barmy. I was particularly Shock when she said that after nearly 30 yrs as a veggie (not a real one as she eats fish but her idea of one) her trainer wanted her to have meat for the protein. She is actually considering it.

To give her, her due she ate fairly normally with us and says she isn't rigid about the eating if out but still. It was all a bit sad.

The other friend has been living in abroad, somewhere hot, but has moved back here for family reasons and she is sooo brown. Too brown. Unnaturally brown. You can see the sun has aged her very badly. It was weird. I looked younger than them (I thought) even though they should, in theory have looked younger and healthier than me.

I should see them more often and I wouldn't be quite so shocked and/ore surprised by the changes, I think. I really should get them Pauling!

Rulesgirl · 12/07/2013 02:08

Hi BBB low fat low carb is not good. One or the other maybe but if your doing low carb then you need your fats to keep healthy. Fats are very important to us (good fats ) as you know. She is looking older because of the lack of fats in her diet. Silly personal trainer. There is a lot to be said for being slightly padded rather than underpadded look. It is definitely more youthful. I did biking and weights today. God, the sweat was pouring off me, its not nice to exercise in hot weather. But I felt really really good after and I have biceps and triceps building really well. Just need to reduce the jelly belly and wobbly thighs and bottom. Sigh!!!!

Rulesgirl · 12/07/2013 02:18

By the way, Im not saying that low carb or low fat are good just was commenting that her personal trainer is giving her an unrealistic unhealthy approach to eating.

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 12/07/2013 07:28

BBB that does not sound a good look on either of them, but especially your friend who's using the personal trainer. She must be pleased with him though especially if she's considering giving up her veggie principles after all these years Confused Think you need to stage a Paul/muffin buster intervention before she does something she regrets!

I had a rubbish day yesterday. Caught a glance of myself in the mirror yesterday morning and thought "I'm definitely looking slimmer" so snuck in a naughty weigh-in and saw I'd lost another pound, which then triggered a full day of self-sabotage. It was like a switch had gone off in my brain and I was consciously unconsciously eating, felt like yuck by the end of the day - overly full with a migraine. Not good! Definitely going back to avoiding the scales, I just can't be trusted around them! If I've put on I get depressed and emotionally eat, if I've lost I think great and then self-sabotage Hmm

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 12/07/2013 07:30

Rules can't believe you're exercising in this heat! So impressed!

Rulesgirl · 12/07/2013 12:52

Hi NotGood sorry you had a bad day. Why do you think weighing yourself and having lost a pound....which is brilliant ......made you go on a overeating session? Smile

ppeatfruit · 12/07/2013 13:10

Afternoon All Grin Well tomorrow's another day notGood don't over think it.

Ref. Low fat diets; they have been taken to stupid extremes; spray olive oil for cooking anyone? Hmm I've lost my nearly 3 stone always eating and cooking with pure olive oil and linseed oil and oily fish. I don't eat saturated fat (some people are fine with it though).
I'm the same with carbs the only one I don't eat is wheat!

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 12/07/2013 14:56

Rules I don't know why I self sabotage all I know is when I bought the newer version of ICMYT (the one with the 90 day journal at the back) it had a new chapter on self-sabotage and it really struck a chord with me. I suspect there's some deep-rooted psychological reason (I do have a horrendous emotional relationship with food) but like ppeat said I'm not going to over think it. My primary aim for re-starting Pauling wasn't to lose weight but to just see food as food nothing else and by weighing myself I think I shifted my focus. Of course any weight loss is a bonus, but its not as important to me as stopping food ruling my life!

Rulesgirl · 12/07/2013 16:41

O... well done then * NoGood....you do seem to understand how it happened. I feel that is the answer to this woe...just let go of all previous notions about diets and food and relax. Luke you said...to see food back in its rightful place as just " food". That's the way natural slim people view it. Grin

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 12/07/2013 16:56

I know that's my ultimate dream! Do these naturally slim people realise how lucky they are not to have all this baggage when it comes to food?? Thank goodness for PM and his hypnotic allure Grin

Rulesgirl · 12/07/2013 17:07

They are usually the product of very conscientious parenting.

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 12/07/2013 17:47

I know when I used to be a manager one of my area manager's cheesy sayings was behaviour breeds behaviour . Just knowing I don't want to pass my bad habits onto the kids is good motivation to sort myself out

ppeatfruit · 12/07/2013 17:53

The problem isn't just to do with the parenting though IMO and E I had 3 naturally slim DCs until DD2 took up with a nasty bloke who called her fat when she wasn't so started dieting and now she is Sad. Weirdly she got ME onto P.M. but ignores it (although she has all the stuff from the seminar ). I'm waiting for her to start it but not nagging as it doesn't help. Grin

Rulesgirl · 12/07/2013 18:25

What about your other two pp are they slim.?

Rulesgirl · 13/07/2013 03:33

pp how is your daughter now. Is she better about her body? I think the media and marketing has a lot to answer for too with regard to people and their bodies....male and female.

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2013 08:11

Morning all Rules Grin Blimey you're up late!! yes the other 2 are slim and DD2 has lost some weight (for her wedding of course!) drinking healthy smoothies. One of her probs is she has soo many good mates, 8 bridesmaids remember!!! What with hen nights ,birthdays etc. that they're too often out on the piss!!

Rulesgirl · 13/07/2013 09:12

hehe....couldn't sleep.

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2013 09:23

I take a french supplement which is kelp (spirulina type) and that's amazing for sleeping!

Rulesgirl · 13/07/2013 16:53

I took a sleepy antihistamine in the end. Just got up Shock ...lovely!!!!

KeepTheFaithBaby · 13/07/2013 18:14

Hello, Tis I, Faithy.

It's scorching here which is definitely suppressing my appetite! I have naked but for a nappy baby chilling on my lap. DH is firing up the BBQ for tea :)

Rulesgirl · 13/07/2013 22:03

Hi Faithy...... how was BBQ....what did you have?

KeepTheFaithBaby · 13/07/2013 22:21

I'm quite pleased actually, I left some! Had GF pork and apple burgers from the butchers and GF Lincolnshire sausages with salad. It was yummy! Not long settled DD and while I was settling her I realised I'd got strawberries and cream in the fridge. So nice when I put her down to enjoy some! :)
