Welcome to thread 12 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting in your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer clothes!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry ~ NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get into a smaller size for summer, just think how we could look for next Christmas!

The ones my mother had were like candy floss inside. This was in Oz though.Smile

BigBoobiedBertha · 08/07/2013 18:14

Yes, like hard candy floss.

I just googled them - they were Energen rolls. Well remembered ppeat!

I still thought they were lovely with butter. I bet if I had one now they would be a bit of a disappointment though.

Tinwe · 08/07/2013 20:17

Don't remember the bread rolls but I do remember the weekly trip to the slimming club with my mum and sister followed by a huge chippy tea on the way home! Everyone in my family has struggled with their weight as food has been used as a treat and a comfort (in addition to a largely healthy diet, I should add to be fair), ie "had a hard day? I'll make you something really nice and you can have a special pudding if you eat it all up" Grin but Confused

Really don't want to pass the "food is a cure all" idea on to my girls and if there's any genetics involved I'll have to be extra careful too. The one saving grace for them is that DHs family (and DH) ARE into exercise and healthy eating. Wink

BigBoobiedBertha · 08/07/2013 20:55

Ah Tinwe, I bet you are too young to remember the rolls. Some of us are old farts you know. Grin

BigBoobiedBertha · 08/07/2013 20:57

Actually, although I know some of us are older than others, perhaps I shouldn't tar my peers and elders with the 'old fart' brush. Assume it is just me. Grin

Rulesgirl · 08/07/2013 21:06

hehe....I'm certainly no old fart BBB and I'm sure your not either. Grin

Tinwe · 08/07/2013 21:14

I'm no spring chicken TBH Wink

BigBoobiedBertha · 08/07/2013 21:15

Oh I don't know, I have my moments. Grin

I was just pondering on food as a treat. I suspect I am overthinking but sometimes it is a treat like a nice birthday dinner in a restaurant or Christmas lunch. Surely food as a treat isn't always bad?

I suppose it depends on how often you use it as a treat. If you leave it for special occasions it is OK isn't it?

And this is where the overthinking goes into overtime - if we label food as a treat and then say that is a bad thing to do, is that not by extension labelling food as a bad thing?

I totally agree that about not using a food as a bribe - 'be good and you can have some sweets' or eat 'your cabbage and you can have pudding', that sort of thing but can we not sometimes just use it to make us feel good? I would think the naturally thin don't worry about calling food a treat, if it really is rather than just an excuse for a blow out.

Rulesgirl · 08/07/2013 21:18

Well to me its the actual act of going out for a meal that is the treat, not the food itself Smile

BigBoobiedBertha · 08/07/2013 21:22

Yes, I suppose so. Hadn't thought of it like that but on the other hand, the food still counts or the experience of going out would be spoilt.

(told you I was overthinking it!)

HadALittleFaithBaby · 08/07/2013 21:38

I don't remember the rolls but I ate a lot of cracker breads in the 90s! My Mum did WW and a Rosemary Conley classes - that was workout and weigh in in one. Then they'd go to the pub for a slim line tonic! All my childhood food was a reward and comfort. Junk was either plentiful or totally removed depending on whether Mum was dieting or not, or if she felt we needed to cut back. I actually find it better to have things that are in small packets to eat now rather than big ones. So like in better off having a pack of curly wurlys than a largeslsb of chocolate as I'm more likely to eat just one curly surly if I really fancy it. The large chocolate I'd eat mindlessly,

I have been Pauling today. Got on fairly well. pp I've started doing the muffin buster! Faithlet is starting to settle earlier at times so I'm hoping we're getting towards the end of the intense evening cluster feeding so I can go running when she's settled! You're all right. I can't expect my figure to go back overnight. I guess part of the challenge is that obviously I was overweight before I got pregnant. My mind keeps flashing to 'quick fixes' like SW, 5:2 but I know Pauling is the way forward so I'll just keep going with it!

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 08/07/2013 22:09

Well done HadA the thing is when you're breast feeding there's no way you could do anything like 5:2, Paul is definitely the way forward. I really struggled with breast feeding my DS (now 3) and only managed 6 weeks as a result I really struggled to lose the baby weight let al

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 08/07/2013 22:16

Well done HadA the thing is when you're breast feeding there's no way you could do anything like 5:2, Paul is definitely the way forward. I really struggled with breast feeding my DS (now 3) and only managed 6 weeks as a result I really struggled to lose the baby weight let alone the extra 2 stone I was already carrying. But I knew what to expect with DD and managed to feed her for 13 months and found every 3 months I would have a big loss despite eating like a pig and I'm now a stone lighter than when I fell pregnant with no real effort on my part (put on 5lb when stopped but PMs now sorted that!) So don't lose heart you'll soon be where you want to be and all whilst you get to sit down feeding Faithlet!

Rulesgirl · 09/07/2013 00:24

Faith.....We'll done to you for today. I know how you feel when your mind starts thinking about all the quick fix diets. There so ingrained in our head as the way to get the perfect body and lose weight in a week but if you follow the thought to one week or two after youve started the diet, you invariable feel deprived, then binge then feel guilty then look for the next holy grail of diets. Pauling really is the way to eat normally and to set an example so Faithlet grows up seeing food in a normal way. Get your copy of the 90 day journal and do it with Tin and me. Think someone else is doing it to but can't remember....sorry Sad .

ppeatfruit · 09/07/2013 10:37

Morning all the REAL old fart here Grin!!! My memory's not too bad though Grin Yes energen rolls were a most unnatural colour ( a weird beige outside and a brilliant bleached white inside!!!) Goodness knows what the manuf. did to them!

HadA go VERY easy with the muffin buster exes PLEASE I don't want to be responsible for any problems!!! You'll be back to normal in no time I found the BF was fantastic for getting my figure back (even after 3 L.O.'s)Grin without any extra exes.

Rulesgirl · 09/07/2013 11:01

pp " old fart".....snigger....lol Grin Grin Grin Grin

BigBoobiedBertha · 09/07/2013 17:18

Bet you're not really an old fart ppeat.

I think I might easily become one in this weather though - will it never rain?!?!?! Grin

I am not sure bf had any effect on me at all except maybe to stop me putting on weight. The baby weight was gone almost immediately but I still had the change of shape issues that Faith has. It was weird, I wouldn't even say I had a muffin, it was more like everything had shifted, mainly in a downwards direction and spread. I keep waiting for it to move back up but it hasn't happened yet. I shall just have to make it disappear instead won't I?

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2013 10:13

Morning Grin I do work at keeping a youthful look and attitude (within reason of course ;you won't catch me drinkin' loads and clubbin in stilettos and lycra!!)

Ref. BF I must be lucky because it didn't even affect the shape of my boobs TMI sorry!

Rulesgirl · 10/07/2013 10:56

Morning Ladies,
Breastfeeding did not affect the shape of my boobs either but it did make them bigger and they stayed bigger. I breastfed for 7 years in total though , 3.5 years both children. They are now a 34e.

Rulesgirl · 10/07/2013 10:57

And BBB.....Rain......really.......ha ha!!!

BigBoobiedBertha · 10/07/2013 11:14

No my boobs are OK but bigger too. They held up quite well with my 2.5 yrs of bf but partly that was because I don't think I took my bra off for 2 yrs either (except for washing and changing of course). I think it mitigated the effects of pregnancy and bf. I really meant saggy from the waist down. Loose skin on the tummy, saggy bottoms and podgy knees. The curse of the pear shaped.

God I sound like a right babe don't I? Grin

You don't miss the rain Rules?! It's been gone for a week! There will be hose pipe bans and stand pipes in the street before you know it. The shops will run out of ice lollies and sausages and the sky will fall on our heads with no cloud to hold it up. I really do think we need some more rain now. Wink

Actually, although the weather at the weekend was a bit much, I can cope today. It is a bit cooler but still pleasant.

I'm off out to lunch at a friends house. How very civilised of me. Have a good day, ladies.

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2013 11:21

You may find losing weight affects them i 've gone down from 38b to 36D. Though it's probably just my back that's got smaller (also the new way to measure). There is an amazing acupressure exercise which firms them.!!

solo are you still off work? are you ok Grin

Rulesgirl · 10/07/2013 11:23

Oooooo nice BBB your off to be a "Lady that does lunch"....yes very civilised!!!! Its hot hot hot here again. In fact I don't remember the last time we have had weather this hot for years.
The saggy bit I have is my lower tum but only when I bend down.

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2013 21:01

rules it doesn't sound like you need to lose much weight! I agree it's the number of consecutive DAYS we've had hot and sunny we've even got hot wind here and me hydrangea leaves are drying up!! that is SO unusual!

HadALittleFaithBaby · 10/07/2013 21:25

My buzzwams have gone from 36D pre-pregnancy to 38E. I'm due to go back and get measured again and buy new bras. I am wondering if they've got bigger again though!

Another fair day food wise for me. I am going to try to listen to the CD at bedtime but am seriously thinking of getting one of those pillow speakers. Think it'll be most effective!
