Week 2 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - How was week 1 for you?!

BIWI · 06/05/2013 09:19

Hopefully you've all entered your weight in the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and I hope that everyone managed a successful first week!

It probably wasn't the easiest week to start, what with the bank holiday, but never mind. It's a really good lesson that life and all its temptations will frequently get in the way.

Hope everyone has some sunshine today. It's perfect barbecue weather, and barbecue food is perfect for low carbing. And if anyone wants a good recipe, there's a lovely one for marinated chicken on the recipe thread

It's on the spreadsheet link on OP queen, there are different tabs along the bottom of spreadsheet.

Makingmama · 11/05/2013 10:09

Can I just confirm that the Bootcamp is just for 2 weeks? Then we move onto the Bootcamp light? How long is the Bootcamp light? And then what's the next step?

Also can I have the odd diet coke on Bootcamp? Or is it just water and herbal teas like green tea, peppermint etc? Thank you.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/05/2013 10:10

That's interesting re the carby-ness causing gallstones in the first place, especially as most people with gallstones/gallbladder disease are overweight, from the excessive carbs no doubt.

I suppose it could be the case that switching to this WOE might trigger a pre-existing gallbladder issue, hence people assuming that low carb has caused the issue in the first place Hmm

Still feeling grotty today, but the pain started in my left tonsil, then was in both and now only on the right side, so I assume I'm almost over the worst of it. And aside from a few throat lozenges and lemsips (and of course the lindt teddies Blush) I've managed to stick to low carb. Scales are showing a loss this morning, albeit a teeny one. So I'm happy with that, but we'll see what Monday brings!

Back on full throttle today, and going cold turkey with the filthy pepsi max

Breakfast has been my cauli mash from last night, mixed with a bit of grated mozarella and fries, plus two slices of bavarian smoked ham rolled up with cream cheese (paprika flavoured from Aldi)...deeelish

JustasmallGless · 11/05/2013 10:12

Morning all,

3lbs down since weighing in on Tues morning so am chuffed with that.
I had a big doo last night and only had 4 vodkas which is most restrained for me.
Just had a big cheese and mushroom omlette for breakfast - yummy

BloggingAboutTediousThings · 11/05/2013 10:50

Good morning everybody!

Just sipping a huge bulletproof coffee. I am starting to get ill. No movement on the scale but I am not really surprised. I got my period and tend to put on 3-4lbs water weight every time.

I am looking forward to my first meal at 2pm. IF suits me really well. I am energetic and don't even complain about long study sessions.

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 11/05/2013 10:58

morning. I have just had a lovely sausage from Heck - not seen it in supermarket before, but 97% proper meat and it is gluten free, they are on special in Tesco at moment.

So, B - I cooked all 6 sausages, but only ate 1, will keep the others for snacks if the rest of the family dont scoff them lots of mushrooms fried in lots of butter and 1 egg. Im stuffed. Grin

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 11/05/2013 11:00

stood on the scales, but havent lost anything, but thats fine, because I had a big loss over the past 2 weeks. My clothes feel looser though.

JustasmallGless · 11/05/2013 11:13

Jax I tried those Heck sausages got our one BBQ of the year last weekend and everyone loved them. Really nice flavour and I always love a bargain'

JustasmallGless · 11/05/2013 11:15

Measure, measurs, measure ladies

Honestly you will stall at some point in the next 4 weeks on the scales and to keep the faith measure yourself. You WILL see a difference

Tigglette · 11/05/2013 11:25

I've had a busy busy week so not been here much, have stayed on track though so it's all good. Food for today;-

B. bacon, eggs, mushrooms, sausages
L. Omelette with cheese and shallots
D. Thai prawn curry with pal choi

CiderwithBuda · 11/05/2013 11:25

Morning all. Just back from Tonacise. Managed to walk in the door just as the rain hit. But got my 40 min walk in so happy with that.

No movement on scales here been 14 10 for last couple of days. But am not worried. I have stuck to plan so am sure it will show on scales eventually. And a lady at Tonacise told me she can see that I have lost weight! I actually got measured on Wednesday and will be measured again in a month which will be interesting.

Had a look at the bulletproof coffee. Looks interesting. Not sure if I am brave enough to try it though!

The celeriac dauphinoise went down well here last night. Very yummy dinner. Although I was hungry later so obv didn't eat enough. Had a few bits of cheese.

B today was a Greek yoghurt with a teaspoon of flaxseeds - I need the fibre.
S was some egg mayo
L will be big salad with a chicken breast and mayo
D will be roast lamb, mashed swede and buttered leeks and asparagus.

Not tempted by alcohol at all at the moment which is amazing for me. Am desperate to get down to 14 7 by Wednesday as it's my birthday. Even contemplating staying on bootcamp on my birthday! Will see how I feel on the day.

decaffwithcream · 11/05/2013 11:26

Was shocked to find there were no eggs when I went to make breakfast - Twinklestar a spinach omlette is really nice if you don't like mushrooms. I use the bags of fresh spinach and it makes a fairly instant breakfast.

Today I had lots of mashed avacado with a bit of goats cheese/cream cheese on 2 slices of chicken instead. And some Lidl yoghurt.

rubybricks · 11/05/2013 11:26

do you mind me asking what your starting weight was BIWI? your current weight seems unattainable to me, i'd just love to be back where i was pre DC - but have been wishing to be the weight you are for pretty much all of my adult life.

watched 'secret eaters' on catch up last night and realised i have been just like the woman on it who picked all day while attempting to starve, then binged at weekends. that and many other weird ideas around food/what's good for me Smile.

have to confess to 2 glasses red wine at the end of an uber stressful day - felt decidedly lightheaded afterwards and headachy this morning, hope i haven't derailed things too much. giving up alcohol to this extent has been much more of an issue for me than chocolate/sweet stuff, oddly enough.

really loving the fact that i have (with the exception of those 2 transgressions with wine - last night and last week) managed to stick to something for so long, this is UNHEARD OF in my world!

can't thank all you losers enough, really Flowers

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/05/2013 11:59

Sausage recommendation - Paul Rankin sausages. Gluten free and low carb, 1.4 carbs per 100g (6 sausages are 400g) and really tasty. Very peppery. They are on special offer, 2.50 in Asda.

I am still 10.4. So stalled all week, why the fuck?

Could it be because I am near my target weight? My actual target is 9.7, but I don't know if that is realistic. I have never weighed that in my life. Last year when I did this my target was 9.13, just to get under 10stone, and I achieved that (just before a holiday with cocktails and then Christmas straight after!).

Anyway bloody period still not shown up and I still feel bloated despite having not eating anything dodgy all week.

Anyway I am having a drink tonight.

WillieWaggledagger · 11/05/2013 12:00

marybeard what's your fried parmesan chicken recipe? it sounds tasty (sorry if you've posted it before)

BlackAffronted · 11/05/2013 12:04

Just checking in. Just about to go shopping, so nosing in the recipe thread for some ideas. Going to make mini pizza bites, top a mushroom with cheese & a pepperoni slice & cook in the oven, for when I fancy something "nibbly".

CrabbyBigbottom · 11/05/2013 12:13

I just had to nick some sticks of celery from the rabbit to go with my baked camembert. She looked at me like this Hmm

Getorf I read in a low-carb book that your weight loss will stop when you're the right weight for your body, if that's any comfort. How tall are you?

decaffwithcream · 11/05/2013 12:41

Grin at "you losers"

BIWI · 11/05/2013 13:18

Makingmama - Bootcamp lasts for 10 weeks. The idea is that we do two strict weeks, then move to Bootcamp Light for the remaining eight.

However, it's really up to you. Some people - after the two strict weeks - like to continue with Bootcamp. Some like to do a hybrid, i.e. Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

The first two strict weeks are petty non-negotiable, as it's the best way to switch your body into fat-burning mode, but after that it's what works for you really.

rubybricks - my starting weight, Jan 2012, was 11 stone 5.5lbs. At 5ft 2in that was pretty hefty!

When I got married, when I was 30, I weighed 8 stone 11lbs. That's my ultimate aim to get back to that.

Although I'm OK with my weight as it is at the moment, I still carry an obvious amount of flab around my torso - I reckon it's probably around another 3-4lbs to go to get rid of that, so 8 stone 11lbs is a weight I'm beginning to think I should aim for. I've been aiming for 9 stone now for years!

BIWI · 11/05/2013 13:24

GetOrf, I believe the technical definition of a stall is something horrendous like 6 weeks without any loss!

Thing is, that might be your body's preferred 'natural' weight. What do you like naked, if you'll pardon the personal question? Grin Can you see obvious lumps and bumps? Or is it just a desire to see lower numbers on the scales?

If you switch to low calorie eating, you can go lower - but that's because you will lose muscle rather than just fat. So it's not really about the numbers on the scales, it's about your body and its tone/appearance.

BIWI · 11/05/2013 13:25

.... and if you're near your period, that's definitely a reason why you are holding onto those irritating pounds!

Bloated ---> drink more water

Oh and NO DIET COKE - OR DIET DRINKS OF ANY KIND - ON BOOTCAMP!
