Serenity - can you get out and do a really brisk walk? I find the exercise gets my endorphins going if I'm having a crap day - I needs to be brisk enough that you're out of breathe though and for 20-30 mins.

It really does work. Try it before your cheese on toast, then you'll really enjoy your treat.

Bliss, I'd love to know someone with a bookshop.

I've been good, I've got crackerbread with no cheese instead and after DD has finished lunch we'll walk down to the high street and check out the charity shops Smile

Good on you, Serenity Grin. I'm sitting at work sipping my Options hot chocolate - have managed to be pretty virtuous today (so far...).

Giving up sugar isn't going particularly well, I went off the deep end with dh last night with very little provocation. Blush And today I'm more even tempered, but that's probably because I had a slice of chocolate yoghurt cake. [embarassed grin] I'll get my coat.

hi guys - have my 1st SW weigh in tonight and not too positive - I was really good until the weekend when it all went pear shaped! Our car broke down in glasgow 150 miles from home and I just pigged out due to boredom of waiting on tow truck for hours!!! On the plus side dh is joining tonight!

schneebly · 16/05/2006 16:08

bran - I believe that to give up sugar completely you would havr to be superhuman! I certainly couldnt do it! You are very brave for even attempting ! Dont beat yourself up about it!

Just checking in on day one of my sensible eating plan. Will let you know how much if any I have lost next week WWB! It's gone OK so far. I have a really nasty incentive - minor, essential surgery in August :(
Good luck to all on here :)

Giving up sugar completely would turn me into a complete psycho-troll-bitch-from-hell ... you're very brave, bran!

Oh, Marina ... hope the surgery's nothing nasty (not that any surgery is ever exactly nice, but you know what I mean).

I've had the munchies big-time today; have spent quite a lot of time sitting on my hands to stop me using them to eat! I think I must be pre-menstrual ... that's usually the time when I start to think I could happily eat the fridge and everything in it. Nothing is satisfying me today - I'm flaming starving!

You weren't tempted to walk the 150 miles home Schneebly? Think of all that lovely exercise Grin

Report
bran · 16/05/2006 20:37

I'm not brave at all WWB, and sadly not superhuman either Sneebley. Grin I just find it very hard to stop eating sweet things once I start. I definitely felt much better when I gave up completely last year (after a few weeks as a bitch from hell that is) so I suspect that my body isn't great at keeping my blood sugar balanced.

bran · 16/05/2006 20:39

Oops, sorry that should be "Schneebly" Blush, I blame my bad spelling on sugar withdrawal symptoms. Wink

Been out for dinner and had a lovely time (sigh) ate everything I shouldn't and really enoyed it. I haven't been out for proper 3 course meal kind of dinner for sooooo long. And now can't afford to do it again for a while.

But I did have diet tonic with my G&T (oh well thats alright then!)

Report
schneebly · 17/05/2006 08:38

sue - dont feel bad about having a meal out, as long as you try to get a good balance the rest of the time an occasional meal out wont do any harm! At least you had the diet drinks! I got weighed at SW last night and have lost 2lbs this week - not great for a 1st week but lucky considering the pigging out at the weekend! DH started on diet today so that should be a better incentive to keep to it! Good luck everyone. Smile

OK ... so it's weigh in day (I can hear the sound of knees knocking from here).

Just a reminder of the email address: [email protected] - mail me those fantastic losses! Anyone who weighed themselves last week but didn't want to tell me their weight can email me their losses as well - and anyone who wants to start this week can email me too, with or without their starting weight.

I nearly fell over when I got on the scales this morning ... I'm really pleased with myself, it's a good start. Now all I have to do is keep it up ... and up ... and up ... and that's the hard bit!

I've just e-mailed you, WWB. :)

I feel a bit guilty because my result is probably more to do with bf'ing than being particularly virtuous. Blush

Good luck everyone!

I'll be weighing at lunchtime, in public again Blush

Hoping last nights meal won't skew results too much as I have been OK for a first week. Not fantastic but OK.

Report
WigWamBam · 17/05/2006 11:13

I usually find that big meals don't show on the scales until two days later ... so you could be OK! As long as the changes to your diet have been generally in the right direction then that's a good thing, even if last night's meal does show up on the scales!

This is going to be a long-term thing, and we have to be able to sustain it without going mad ... and if we can't treat ourselves along the way, or have a meal out without thinking of the scales, then it's going to be pretty miserable.

No I don't feel too bad about it. I am feeling in a very positive mood as I have done what I intended to - cut out buying crap like pasties etc, I have walking into work except on days where I was too late or was going to the gym, I've gone back to my aqua class twice a week and even went an extra day on Sunday.

Would be nice to just lose a little half pound or so though [wistful emoticon], helps the motivation for the following week.

OK sent not fab but OK and will be happy if I can maintain this rate going forward.

I think I'm going to count WW points - not counting anything isn;t really working for me (maybe its being an accountant!). Hopefully I have an old WW book somewhere with all th points in it.

Look forward to seeing the total weight loss and esp those who have done REALLY well. They will inspire me...

WigWamBam · 17/05/2006 14:30

It's going down, sue ... which is brilliant. Think how much it would add up to over a year at that rate.

The running total is looking good Smile
