Hi All

Wanted to see if anyone is doing one of these or thinking about it. (If there's already an active thread, I missed it).

I have done LL before, lost three stone in 10 weeks and maintained wonderfully until DC's. Eldest is now four and a half and I think I have probably tried everything going, you name it, I've tried it (Paul McKenna, Paleo, 5:2, Dukan, Weight Watchers, etc).

I know that this works for me, although I understand other peoples objections.
I get paid on Friday and will be contacting a CDC to start on Monday. By the time DS1 is five in June, I intend to be pre DC weight again! Grin

Anyone up for it? Or can give me some support or advice? TIA.

I just had to share... My DP is a fairly heavy sleeper. My stomach is grumbling so loudly, it woke him up! He was so disoriented, because he couldn't figure out what the sound was!

freckles21 · 19/06/2013 07:25

Lol, that is funny. I'm doing boossh, and I have 4 packs a day plus 200ml of skimmed milk. Means I can still have tea. Also use truvia as your body doesn't absorb the calories.
I know everyone on this forum who are doing slim and save highly recommend it, their website has some good stuff on it. I struggled with Cambridge, as not a soup lover and used to gag a the thought of eating them. There is also a thing called konjac, they are basically carb free pasta. Good to bulk out meals.
Good luck with it, as smokin said protein not carbs. Grin

SconeInSixtySeconds · 19/06/2013 07:33

Another two pounds down which isn't too bad all things considered. So 37pounds in two months!

bbpants · 19/06/2013 08:59

Well done everybody. Hello to all the new names too!

Am back on track and have lost half the poundage I put on during my weekend of excess. Not sure I'll lose what I need to to stay the same at my Friday weigh in, but I must stay focussed. I really want to have four good weeks before the summer holidays.

Still doing couch to 5k. Taking it slowly as I'm so unfit, so doing each week twice. But this morning, I really struggled and felt like I was running on empty. Haven't felt like that since the first 'run' on the first week (that wasn't pretty, I can tell you!!).

Jen1610 · 19/06/2013 13:06

Bbpants I'm doing c25k also. Doing week 1 run 3 tonight.

I have to admit I'm REALLY struggling. I lost ten lbs in my first week then lost another lb and then another. Then two days ago I weighed myself and I'd put a lb on????? WTF so weighed myself yday, still the same and today too. I've got my weigh in Thursday and I'm only down 1lb from last week :( I could lose that by eating on ww or sw!!so I took my girls to BK today and cheated :( I ate chicken nuggets!! Now my heads pounding and I feel awful! Looking forward to Day 11 being over!!

bbpants · 19/06/2013 18:25

Sympathies Jen. My usual thing when I see an unexpected rise on the scales is to check where I am in my monthly cycle. I regularly put on a couple of pounds before my period starts. Draw a line under today and the BK, and start again tomorrow

Jen1610 · 19/06/2013 18:40

I've been thinking it might be my totm I had a baby five months ago and not had a period yet as I was breast feeding. I've been worse I had jelly babies and some spaghetti with cheese my head was spinning I felt faint. I'm going to have to start all over again tomoro ahhhhh!

sammac · 19/06/2013 19:39

Well done scone, it's fairly mounting up!!

smokinaces · 19/06/2013 20:53

I've done well, but today had an extra small dry ham and lettace bowl with my soup. Weigh in tomorrow, but still hopefully as I don't think I've over done the carbs.

smokinaces · 19/06/2013 20:54

Well done scone!!

Jen1610 · 20/06/2013 07:36

Well iv not lost for days and days but then after my binge yday (chicken nuggets, jelly babies, spaghetti and cheese) iv woke up an lost a lb! I'm wondering if the low 500calories is putting my body into starvation mode and eating some more - it amounted to 1100 (used my fitness pal) is better for me? Don't know whether to carry on now or just try eating healthy and using my fitness pal.

MyJellybean · 20/06/2013 15:45

I know how you feel Jen, I've stayed the same since Monday, was hoping to lose 3lb a week but just not happening. I think next week, after official weigh in on Monday I am going to be very strict and concentrate on just my 3 packs and not have the evening salads I've been having this week.

I also need to find some king of exercise to do. I walk the dog but need something else, it needs to be fun though or I just get bored and give up. Any ideas? Hmm

SconeInSixtySeconds · 20/06/2013 15:50

What week are you both up to? Week 3 is pretty notorious for being a stall week when doing this or low carbing.

I am eating around 650 calories a day, if that helps, with the occasional filip to about 1000 (although this is protein mostly - chicken or cottage cheese).

sammac · 20/06/2013 18:29

1000 calories mmmmmm (sighs wistfully!!)

SconeInSixtySeconds · 20/06/2013 18:53

I know. I am the ultimate rebel. Grin

Mind you, the dc wanted to try something new for dinner so went through Jamie's 15 minute meals and picked Mexican BLTs. I haven't eaten the leftover guacamole yet but I did eat some lettuce. With salt and pepper. And tried not to watch too closely as they tucked in...

ReenieRoo · 20/06/2013 20:31

Hello all

I've been reading this thread for a few weeks and the success stories have really inspired me to start on the Cambridge diet. I was given about 2 weeks worth of packs by a friend who didn't get on well with it, so I thought I'd give it a go and have lost 5lb in 6 days. I can't believe it! I'm wearing clothes that haven't fit me in years!

The whole reason I'm doing is this because I'm getting married 3 months today and am desperate to fit into my dress. I lost 21lb initially through just diet and exercise, but then the scales stopped going down and I really struggled. CD has kick started my weight loss and I feel so much more positive now. However, I have some questions:

  1. Out of the two weeks supply my friend gave me, at least half were banana. I tried and tried, but I just cannot bring myself to drink any more banana shakes and i'll soon be out of the other flavours. I'm planning on starting S&S but can't afford to do that til I get paid next week. So could I substitute my CD shakes for Slimfast ones? And would I be ok just having those three shakes a day?
  1. I originally started this diet just to 'see how it went' but I actually feel like I could continue until I reach my goal weight (which is 9 stone) Is it advisable to still follow a VLCD if you're 'technically' in a healthy weight bracket? (I'm currently 10st 9lb)
SconeInSixtySeconds · 20/06/2013 20:45

Hi Reenie, i am not sure how the slimfast ones work! CD and slim and save are roughly 140 calories each and i suspect slimfast are more like 250/300. I think the best thing is to have a look at the carb content and aim for less than 50g a day if possible. I am not sure three slim fast shakes would give you the rda of vitamins. Maybe try two and a low carb meal?

There are definitely people following slim and save until they reach target of healthy bmi, and that is what I am planning!

Oh and well done on your loss to date!

By the way Guacamole is in the bin

SconeInSixtySeconds · 20/06/2013 20:49

Just had a look, the slim fast shakes are v.high in carbs - between 24 and 30g per shake.

MyJellybean · 20/06/2013 22:22

My Exante shakes are 200 cals each and 20g carbs and I'm suppose to have 3 a day so daily intake is 600cals and 60g carbs. How much carbs in s&s and CD?

ReenieRoo · 20/06/2013 22:50

Ahhhhh bugger - I might just have to risk it next week with the Slim fast shakes and then start again on S&S the week after

Thanks for the responses guys!

maggie666 · 20/06/2013 23:06

Hi all.
I have been reading most of your posts ( been at it since 8pm lol. I'm starting the Cambridge sole source diet tomorrow and kind of looking forward to it especially seeing how you all are doing. Hope you don't mind me joining in as I think I could do with all the support I can get. Keep up with the weight loss peeps you're all doing fab to get this far. X

SconeInSixtySeconds · 21/06/2013 07:14

Not sure how many in cd, but s&s have about 13g carbs each. So 3 makes 36g plus vegetables in 4th for me.

Scales are looking much better this week. Hurray!

bbpants · 21/06/2013 08:40

Well, ladies, this is the story of my week (and a real eye opener for me, even though I've been doing this for bloody months!).

As you know, I had a massive off-diet weekend, and when I stood on the scales, I had put on 6lbs! Just in two days over-eating and drinking again. I know that wasn't fat, that it was mainly water weight, but it has proved to me that just getting to where I want to be at the end of this 'journey' (sorry to use such an x-factor cliche), isn't going to be enough. I will need to lose another half stone to ensure that, when I put the water weight back on, I am still where I want to be. That scares me a little as it will mean getting into the 9's and I have never been that weight as an adult, and am not 100% I could get there.

However, that's a long way down the line.

The good news is that on Monday, I got right back on the diet. I wavered a little Tuesday when there was champagne flowing, but I stuck with it and didn't drink. It would have been SO easy for me to give in that night - have a drink, eat the nice food on offer and polish off the leftovers in the fridge.

Weigh in today for me - have lost the 6lbs I put on at the weekend, AND ANOTHER POUND!

OK, it's only a pound. But my aim for this week after my complete overindulgence was to stay the same. I'm so proud of myself for sticking with it since Monday.

So, the moral of this tale is: This diet is BRUTAL if you waiver and cheat. The water weight comes back SO quickly, and it is really easy to then say 'sod it, I'm just going to keep eating'. But, stick to the diet, and the weight does come off.

MyJellybean · 21/06/2013 12:36

Thanks bbpants that's reassuring.

i received 4 free s&s meals this morning. I know your not suppose to mix diets but I love my Exante shakes as they are thick and taste great but am missing the food in evenings (I have the curry, spagbol, cottage pie and chilli). I will try these next week and hopefully they will stop me craving food.

What are the shakes/soups like - taste and texture?

maggie666 · 21/06/2013 12:37

Wow... think I may have to adjust my goal weight to make up for the water gain. Thanks bbpants didn't think about that at the end although I do have a long way to go.

Well I started this morning and all I can think of is food........! Had porridge this morning and so hungry just had a shake. Not sure I'm gonna be able to last the restof the day with only one more shake. Think I'll be in bed by 7pm.
