Double could you do some meal skipping and fasting eg only eat dim sum on theatre day and fast all day Wednesday? I know you've done fasting before... Then simply enjoy your holiday and fast again on return to get back into the swing of things.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 31/03/2013 22:32

Double I know what you mean. When you've made good progress by controlling the food having to deal with 'extras' is a bit worrying. However, today I have reminded myself of Randall and Bssh and their weekly mantra plus my midweek weighin had me another pound lighter despite massive booze and carbs intake last weekend. A breakfast missed here. A walk taken there. A salad eaten here. All help minimise the impact and maybe even loose in the most surprising of circumstances. You will be ok because you're worrying about it.

I'm 800 calories over today. Gah! I feel like I might vomit. Tomorrow. I will move in the morning and probably fast if my hangover lets me

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 31/03/2013 22:37

Mmmmm. Nana's pie. I'm imagining apple and drooling

PS Lizzy now that sounds like a night out to remember we are allowed to drink between lunges aren't we?

RandallPinkFloyd · 31/03/2013 23:23

It was apple and blackberry actually and it was heaven. A little slice of my childhood on a plate Grin

BsshBossh · 01/04/2013 08:20

Morning all. Hope you all had a lovely Easter Sunday. I'm fasting as usual today (and going to the gym), to balance out yesterday's eating. Tomorrow will be another lovely, full-on eating day as DH and I are going out for the day without DD and that always involves food Grin.

We had loads of guests yesterday who've not seen me since early this year and they said I've lot loads of visible weight eg off my tummy, face, shoulders. It verified my realisation that I'm losing more body fat more quickly since starting 5:2 than last year's basic calorie restriction. DH has no weight to lose and is superfit (he's a runner) but he fasts one day a week and he's losing off his waist.

DoubleMum · 01/04/2013 09:49

That's great Bssh!
Yes I will limit the damage as much as I can before we go away, and on hols I'll make sure I walk around the decks a bit too. If I'm brave enough I might try the gym. Mind you I don't actually own any trainers any more so I'd need to get some tomorrow to do that.

Lizzylou · 01/04/2013 11:46

Well done Bssh!
Double, in the grand scheme of things 2 days is easily rectified! Your holiday sounds fab.
Have been to the gym and had first juice of the day. Forgot how nice fresh juice is.
Pity I forgot I was cooking roast pork today for dh and boys. Will not be swayed by crackling and have a rice pudding in oven, which I don't like. Milk surplus sorted too.

BambieO · 01/04/2013 21:23

Well done bssh! That's brilliant, you are doing so well :)

TheTigerDidntComeToTea · 02/04/2013 15:50

Hey chiefs, hope everyone had a great Easter!
I cooked a roast leg of lamb for the first time on Sunday, it was delicious, as were the roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings! Yesterday we had a lovely day out with the in-laws at Culzean castle, the kids did the Easter Egg trail - and they ate the eggs so I saved a bit there.
I'm fasting today instead of yesterday and hoping to go to the gym after work, but I'm not sure I'll have any energy - but we'll see.
I'm also worrying about next week as we are away for a week's holiday and I know I won't be able to be as disciplined when I'm out of my routine - arghhh!
Will try to catch up later x

BambieO · 03/04/2013 08:34

sneaky weigh in day and I am 20 pounds down since I started logging and joined these chats. I'm very pleased, still have a long way to go it feels like im not getting anywhere even though i know i am ideally I would like another stone off before summer kicks in.

You have all been such a help and so much motivation! I am determined to keep going and hit my goal.

Have a good day all

Lizzylou · 03/04/2013 10:49

It's all gone quiet!

Well done Bambie! Fab loss.

Did Insanity Pure Cardio last night, oh my good GOD! Not as many breaks as other ones. Tough but v good.

Haven't lost any weight but all my clothes are looser and I feel more toned. I am trying not to get despondent, keeping on it.

Spinning tonight, my favourite class and if today is anything like yesterday I will need the stress relief. Bit sick of workshy twatty people this week!!

RandallPinkFloyd · 03/04/2013 12:29

Well done Bambie, that's a fab loss, you'll easily have that stone off by the summer.

Tea, just enjoy your holiday. Make good choices when you can but don't let it overshadow your holiday. You're a pro at all this now, you'll easily rectify things when you get back.

Lizzy as ever, you are a machine. You must be looking super toned by now, you put me to shame you really do.

Another 2 and a half pounds off this week so that's 36lb since we started back in January (can't believe it's been that long!) and 17%. 9.6lb to healthy!

Onwards and downwards chiefs Smile

DoubleMum · 03/04/2013 15:14

That's great Bambie and well done Randall, and Lizzie for being a super-toned lean machine.
Have been doing my best in the face of adversity, and on hols from tomorrow so I'll be disappearing and attempting not to stuff my face.
I bought some trainers today and I intend to walk around the deck and visit the gym if it isn't too scary.
Stay strong while I'm gone and choose your hard Chiefs.

BsshBossh · 03/04/2013 15:47

Tea well done on cooking your first ever lamb roast :)

Lizzie you are insane Grin

Bambie and Randal excellent losses, particularly after Easter!

Double have a fab holiday and we'll miss your posts.

I'm fasting today rather than Thursday. DH at home all week = lots of eating in and out. On top of Easter this = ? I had a sneaky weigh in today and had put on 2 lbs. Not looking forward to my official weigh on Friday but then again it's been total fun Grin.

I have bagged up all my big clothes for charity today. Hurrah!

LillethTheCat · 03/04/2013 16:42

Well done on the weight loss people.

So Ive just been out for a walk with a view to walk 4 or 5 miles, but I walked over 7 miles according to map my run Shock No wonder I feel worn out. Going to walk the dog in a minute too.

I dont feel very confident on any loss this week though as Ive got MFP set to stay the same and over the last week I am over my calories due to Saturdays over eating, only by 100 or so now as long as I dont eat chocolate tonight so hopefully if I can stick below it tomorrow, maybe Friday wont be so bad

Have a great holiday Double

Yey to bagging up big clothes Bssh

DoubleMum · 03/04/2013 17:25

Yes great news on the clothes chuck Bssh. DOn't worry Lilleth, your walk will sort out some food damage!
I've had some good clothes news too, just packed my posh frocks and some fit me that didn't before. Yay!

OP posts:
TeaMakesItAllPossible · 03/04/2013 17:46

Have a lovely break Double looks like you've had an energetic day with the furniture Grin and may you enjoy wearing your smaller clothes and taking your perambulation around the decks.

Randall brilliant loss.

Lizzy Just 'feck me Chief, you loon' Wink

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 03/04/2013 17:58

Bambie blelly marvellous old chap

Bssh well done on the clothes throw out. I have my size 16s and 14s still taking up space because I think they still fit me

Lilleth Cor. Well done. That's a great walk.

We've just returned from two nights in a youth hostel in the Welsh Marches where we went for a wee walk around a forest to look at a waterfall. Four hours it was wading through knee deep snow taking it in turns to carrying the 3 stone toddler up and down the big feck off hill - on my fecking shoulders - because he couldn't walk. Next time I'm looking at the map scale and the contour lines on the OS map. But my we deserved chips, beer and brownie. Am fasting today because after the Caribbean, Easter and yesterday I feel like tomorrow will show an increase Shock

BambieO · 03/04/2013 19:24

Everyone is doing so well! Bssh love a clear out :)

Tea - you will be safe I have a good feeling!

I hope we all keep up this good work, we will be like new women!

Lizzylou · 03/04/2013 20:05

Double, have huge amounts of fun on holiday!

Bssh, how marvellous to be bagging up big clothes. Even more marvellous buying new slim jim ones!

Tea, sorry but I'm insane? You were the one doing extreme hill walking with a toddler on your shoulders! Grin

Randall, you are amazing well done.

Lilleth, you do so much exercise, bet Friday will be good news.

Bambie, I agree, this is a very inspirational thread.

Soo, spinning done. Today wore a black shift dress that had been tight across bust and round hips and bum. Was loose! Even my Director at work said I was looking "extremely trim and slinky"! And his wife (also at company) is a fitness teeny tiny Goddess.

So why no movement on scales???!!! Or do I just sack weekly weighing off and continue as I am? I feel better and know I must look better.

BsshBossh · 03/04/2013 20:13

Lizzy I'd slack off the regular weigh-ins otherwise it might demotivate you. Last year I only did monthly weigh ins. I think you're gaining muscle and the associated water (for repairs) so the scales, at the moment, are reflecting this. I think many fitness/weights people on the MFP forums actually gain weight but lose inches as a norm when they ramp up their fitness regimes.

Lizzylou · 03/04/2013 20:19

You're right Bssh.
I may just sneak a peak tomorrow, just to see Wink
Then keep going as I am.

I am away this weekend from Friday so eating and exercise will be out of window.

Shewhojuggles · 04/04/2013 13:35

Hi all, just discovered this thread as started 5:2 for the first time this week after reading about it in Good Food mag. I'd used weight watchers before with a degree of success but have been very naughty of late and put tons of the lost weight back on :-( Your weight loss stories are really motivating and I'm definately bookmarking here!

Quick question for now, I'm using MFP to count cals but noticed big discrepancies between recording of hot drinks. I drink either tea or coffee with skimmed milk and two sweetner, any ideas on correct counting?! I'm being so good with food, don't want to spoil it by glugging gallons of calorific drinks!

Cheers!

BambieO · 04/04/2013 14:41

Hi shewho

I don't really drink hot drinks but one of the ladies will be able to help I'm sure :)

Just wanted to say welcome! I'm on MFP feel free to add me tinamcbeana

This is such a great thread, I wouldn't have lost half my weight without it

Good luck!

BsshBossh · 04/04/2013 15:25

Welcome Shewho! I'm doing 5:2 too - have you seen the main 5:2 thread (no. 16)? Yes, this Chief thread is very inspiring and motivating (also a good laugh!). I only joined this year so am a newbie compared to the stalwarts but the Chiefs welcomed me warmly :)

Not sure about hot drinks in particular. I tend to glance over at all the calories recorded for the same thing and take an average (generally taking a higher value just in case). My coffee with semi skimmed milk is 25 cals but I've seen it recorded for less. I took a higher value.
