Thanks lilleth Flowers

I find exercising on an empty stomach allows me to do more but I'm not sure how good for your body that is? It's just if I eat I feel sluggish and a bit sick if I exercise even if I eat something small or very healthy.

A lot of people say to eat a banana a while before a run I believe?

GeekLove · 29/03/2013 18:06

All you new Chiefs out there I am iateallthebees on mfp

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 29/03/2013 18:42

I exercise twice a week on a fast day too ... I really enjoy it as I feel more in tune with my body. Make sure you're well hydrated though. Especially if you go first thing. I find I need to have about a litre of liquid before I can exercise effectively. I have read somewhere that if you are running on empty then it burns more fat. Don't know if it's true mind. Like Lizzy and Bssh say some people can and some people can't.

Hey great walk. Four hours is loads!

I managed 6km running. Then I crashed and burned on the hill home so ended up fartleking the last 3km. I forgot to take my inhaler and the cold made my asthma rather active. I will try again having taken my inhaler. And perhaps with less gin the night before - what a stupid thing to have agreed to do. Running in public. With my old colleagues. Hmm I really must learn I'm not as young and fit as I was. I am a fool!

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 29/03/2013 18:45

Bssh I would love to see your fashion 'story boards' and what you're doing sounds so much fun. Yey to being a teenager again [I invested in vans much to my sons' disgust emoticon]

BsshBossh · 29/03/2013 18:47

Tea I'll share to this thread when I'm done!

LillethTheCat · 29/03/2013 19:08

Thanks for the advice. I will give this week a go and see how I feel. Its only 5K which Im really used to now. I will make sure I have plenty to drink before hand too. I will let you know.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 29/03/2013 19:19

I suffer from the same condition as Lizzy LFIASOT (Lone Female In A Sea Of Testosterone). Tis medically recognised and one of the symptoms is being a bit too enthusiastic about activities I don't get a chance to do!

RandallPinkFloyd · 29/03/2013 20:35

Blimey, all you exercisers are amazing, it's like being surrounded by 10 Richard Simmons!

Yesterday wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, only went 65 cals over so thankfully no need to pay too much penance. Managed to find one thing on the menu that wasn't horrendously fat, sweet chili noodles, they're weren't too bad either tbh.

I know I said it yesterday but I'm still shocked at the terrible calorie content of their food. I know it's crappy re-heated mass produced pub crap but seriously 1200 cals in a roast dinner? Wtaf!

BambieO · 29/03/2013 21:48

Glad you found something tasty randall

It does shock me now, thanks to MFP I'm a bit more aware of what I eat. Who knew an Easter egg had over 1200 calories! Crazy I would have scoffed at least two without that knowledge.

It's a real revelation when you look at what you eat just how much we overeat on a daily basis. No wonder some people can regularly consume up to 5000 calories etc when one meal can have 1200+

Shocking Shock

BsshBossh · 29/03/2013 22:38

Agree Bambie. Without MFP I would not have known I'd so easily over-shot my calories today by a whopping 1000+ Blush. I had an inkling but no firm proof. I no longer log but I did today and there it was in bold red. Before MFP I'd have felt a bit guilty but perhaps not guilty enough. Now I can ensure I balance things out next week.

Or, I can say Fuck it, it's Easter, I can deal with the weight gain when school re-opens! Grin

RandallPinkFloyd · 29/03/2013 23:11

MFP really is a life saver isn't it. There's no way I would have lost this much weight without it.

I think I'm fairly clued up about food but there's certain things that still really shock me.

I mean 100cals for a sodding cup a soup. What the frick is in it? It's two teaspoons of powder . It's the same sort of calories as a small chocolate bar!

I'm very ashamed to admit it but on a normal night, having a burger and a few pints with friends (yes, still classy) I'd have easily got through 3000+ cals.

Add on a normal breakfast and lunch, and probably some crisps and a nightcap when I got home and it could easily top 4000. That's almost 4 days worth of food.

No wonder I'm such a lard arse.

BsshBossh · 30/03/2013 08:00

Randall when I started logging last year at 210 lbs I was daily having 3000 cals (more on weekends). Like you, I still have regular blowouts especially on weekends (3000 calorie days again) but now I've learned about balance.

Yesterday I topped about 3000 cals and my TDEE (at 149 lbs) is now 2171 cals so today I've decided to do a mini fast and eat nothing until dinner when I will eat normally. That should counteract yesterdays extra calories. Tomorrow will onviously be a blowout Sunday and I want to enjoy it but it will be fine cause Monday's a normal fast day for me and I plan on going to the gym. Tuesday will be a full on eating day too cause DH and I are going out sans DD for the day and night but Thursday is a normal fast day too so all should be fine. Them it's back to normal.

I've finally learned that it's all about balance, something I never really got to grips on when I was piling on the pounds.

Okay, long post over. Better clean the house in preparation for houseguests and play with DD try not to think about food

RandallPinkFloyd · 30/03/2013 08:25

bssh your numbers are exactly the same as mine. Same start weight and same goal, how weird is that!

You are my inspiration, if you can do it then so can I. I'm confident of getting to healthy but getting beyond that to my goal is the bit that feels daunting. You're proof it can be done though. Thank you chief!

BsshBossh · 30/03/2013 10:07

Thanks Randall :)

LillethTheCat · 30/03/2013 11:03

Well I tried running this morning after no breakfast and in all honesty I dont think it made one bit of difference. So in future I will just carry on. I know today is going to be a bad day calorie wise, but Ive already burned off about 400 cals so that might lessen the impact.

Tomorrow will be a good day as will the rest of the week so hopefully I can make it up a bit. Also have a good exercise plan for the week with burning off 300-500 most days.

dinkydoos · 30/03/2013 11:26

randall me too cannot believe 1200 cals in a pub roast! I always am so disappointed in them, as it's always so small, with 2 or 3 roasties, and the meat is always Bernard Matthews esque. So feck knows where they have hidden the cals!
bssh respect, you are awesome, and love the way you are enjoying it all, by getting hair done, new outfit planning etc. so much fun.
Well done on all the exercise everyone is doing, still in awe of runners my boobs far too jiggly even with sport bra on to run
They opened the outdoor pool yesterday at the new gym we have joined and I went in with the kids! Surely that must have burnt a million cals, due to body having to cope with the cold Grin

LillethTheCat · 30/03/2013 11:30

Just added all my food and alcohol I plan to consume today and its only 390 over calories. I can easily make that up tomorrow.

LillethTheCat · 30/03/2013 11:30

Easily a million dinky Well done no way would I have braved that Grin

Lizzylou · 30/03/2013 12:25

OUtdoor pool??? FGS Dinky, there is still snow on the ground round here!

Well done Randall on keeping meal out in check. I am doing the missing meals/substituting chocolate for meals thing this weekend, keeps me on the straight and narrow and I don't feel so bad about indulging.

Have done park run and Insanity Cardio Recovery, which was actually harder than the so-called insane cardio workouts. Think I have to work on my strength and flexibility.

Oh and re: MFP I am constantly amazed at how few calories are burned due to exercise. I mean you can run for 30minutes and not even earn a sunday roast! Gone are the days where I'd think "sod it, I've been to the gym" and eat a full fat takeaway, chocolate and bottle of wine, because I'd earned it. Well mostly Wink

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 30/03/2013 14:15

I've just played tennis for the first time this year and I'm freezing. Respect to you Dinky

Lizzy you are insane bet we'd be friends in RL and I know what you mean. I just did 10 mins circuit training in the park whilst boys climbed trees - I was really cold in my defence. 79 measley calories. That means each shred is only worth 3 Gins or a fecking flake now! What is the point!

Lizzylou · 31/03/2013 11:51

Tea, we could go out on the wine. Every round a different circuit. Star jumps, press ups, shuttle runs....
The way forward!
Have been to the gym and skipped breakfast. We are off to do a NT egg hunt round some woods, taking a picnic which includes homemade sausage rolls. Then lamb and gratin dauphinois and chocolate and cake and wine.
Tomorrow is most definitely a fast day! Am going to dust off the juicer and atone.
Happy Easter chiefs!

LillethTheCat · 31/03/2013 16:01

So yesterday I was only 390 over my calories, but then I ate cupcakes and crisps and it ended up I was 1252 over my calories. However today I am 484 under so if I can do that again for the rest of the week it will work out in the end Grin

Just come back from a 5 mile run. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go, but once I was out it was great. Lovely weather for it. Im not planning on going for a walk tomorrow, but if the weather stays nice I may just be tempted to make the most of it.

Hope everyone is having a great Easter

DoubleMum · 31/03/2013 21:13

Oh dear I haven't done well the last two days, have felt a bit out of control. Tomorrow is DH's birthday and we are going to ILs for his favourite (fried) chicken sweet and sour so I have little control over that either but if I don't eat anything else it should be OK. Then Tuesday we are going to see Phantom of the Opera and having dim sum in our favourite Chinese so not good either. Wednesday I'll be good then Thursday off on hols surrounded by unlimited food. Feel a bit overwhelmed by it all TBH. But I shall try my hardest, I really don't want to have to get it all off again.
Well done Bssh!

I haven't done too badly but it's mainly because the guilt of not being able to do cardio with my leg is keeping me in check

You have to have some treats, as long as you know they are treats it will be ok :)
