Just said to DH I might save up £50 (I found one off colonic-association.org, but I can't get on it now) He just snorted at me. Dont think he thinks its a good idea and whittered something about Dr Christian saying they dont work. Mind you googling it there does seem to be some bad views on it. I want it done though even though I am a little nervous at the idea

I have ammended MFP to take 1lb off a week instead of 1.5 (aiming high there maybe), perhaps I should aim at 0.5 and I will easily be under my calories today. Need to go on bike and then finish off today's diary. I shouldn't be eating as much tomorrow as I have to go out early for a course I am doing.

DoubleMum · 20/03/2013 20:22

Glad you're back Bssh, don't leave us again I missed you! Thanks

Double thanks :)

BsshBossh · 20/03/2013 20:32

Lilleth that sounds sensible (amending to 1 or even 0.5 lb loss). You're probably more likely to stick to the diet on higher calories because you're less likely to feel deprived. I've been losing on around 1800-2200 a day but like alot of Chiefs here I prefer to focus on the weekly view. It means I tend to eat less during the week (though still over 1800 cals average) and more on weekends (I'm like Randall with my weekend blowouts!). I am convinced this is why I've managed to stick to this diet for over a year. I also think MFP is the best app ever!

Lizzylou · 20/03/2013 20:41

Bssh!
Lovely to see you Smile
I was always so focussed on cardio, I was scared of weights, thinking I'd bulk up. But I know from MFP and MN threads that lifting heavy is fabulous for women and doesn't bulk, just sculpts. Something else for me to add to the list. There was a poster on MN some time agao who waxed lyrical about a certain author and his book, perhaps search the archives?
I know that even doing Kettlecise has made a huge difference to my shape and tone. Last time I lost a lot of weight through dieting and just running I still had a muffin top from hell. Not so much now and I am a way off that weight. I can almost see a sort of six-pack emerging, well definition anyway. Beneath the fat! But it is sort of sculpted fat iyswim!!

Lilleth, you do stuff for you. It is your body my lovely.

DoubleMum · 20/03/2013 20:42

Kali has logged her swim on MFP thus averting a great pestilence on mankind. That's a relief.

Not gone on bike, Im rubbish. I have been too busy faffing on the net and doing a practise exam for an exam I have on Tuesday so Ive not been completely wasting my time.

Hopefully as I get into this more I will learn what is better for me. Plus I need to get to a routine with exercise again. Need to pick up my running etc. Im 198 over and if I went on my bike Id only be a couple of calories over, but I did like how it told me if everday was like today in 5 weeks Id weigh 11st 6 so that would be 3lbs in the right direction Grin.

I might change MFP again to lose 0.5lbs a week and put it up to 1lb a week once the weather gets better and I am out running more. Unfortunately I live rurally in the hills and when it snows, it can get really icy and Id rather not risk injury just to go for a run.

Right I have changed again to lose 0.5lbs a week. Once the weather turns and Spring finally arrives I will up that to 1lb a week. That is my new plan. I said myself months ago that during the winter I will try to maintain or at least not put on too much weight and in summer I will start to lose again. If I can do what I have done in the last year which is lose a stone over summer and only put on 5lbs over winter then in 3 years or so I will be where I want to be. Its all the hot chocolates. I am going to buy options on Friday, I finished what we did have in today.

Sorry to have rambled today, but thanks for putting up with me while I work out what I was going to do.

DoubleMum · 20/03/2013 20:52

Lilleth you may have noticed we all ramble here, that's what the thread is for!
Lizzy am well jell of sculpted fat sixpack. I have sculpted fat too, I've sculpted it into a giant doughnut shape.

Lizzy it's really interesting watching the regulars at my gym. Those who do cardio all the time are slim but flabby (cardio men too); those who do mainly weights are slim and toned. There are all these svelte women who look amazing because they've got muscle definition all over and they don't wobble. Okay, I live in a yummy mummy/celeb area of London (not one myself though!) so not alot of "normal" people at my gym but still, it's quite inspiring. And you're right about women not bulking up. None of the female heavy lifters at my gym are bulky.

DoubleMum · 20/03/2013 21:03

I had a flatmate at uni whose girlfriend was a female bodybuilder and she was majorly bulked up, but I don't know if she took stuff to make her that way. Neither of them were very friendly unfortunately, so it wasn't the kind of thing you asked! In fact I'm not sure the girlfriend ever spoke to us once. I started lifting when I was living there though, and quite enjoyed it.

Lizzylou · 20/03/2013 21:04

Lilleth, it is only your first day! You will be able to plan more on your next shop and get some inspiration on how to stay under cals and still feel full. Takes a while. I live in hilly Lancs. I have been Park running every Saturday, sometimes running round local reservoir but this week is the first time I have ran from my house. My house is at the bottom of a HUGE hill. If it wasn't for DH stood at the door on Monday ready to go running I'd not have done it, too daunting. It will be easier and easier once the nights are lighter and weather's less Baltic.

Bssh, yep, you are right re: skinny fat and toned. I like that now I mix up my workouts, building muscle, strength and stamina. Want to live in a swanky London place now though!!!

Double, I did emphasise the sculpted FAT bit didn't I??? You are doing so well, don't put yourself down!

LillethTheCat · 20/03/2013 21:08

TBH DoubleMum Ive not really been reading the thread that much, just scanned and picked out people have said to me. Ive been too busy working out what is best for me. It may have taken all day, but I think Im there now. 0.5lbs off till end of April, 1lb off throughout May-Aug, 0.5lbs off Sept and Oct. Nov stay the same, Dec gain 0.5lbs a week (well I have to be realisitic with christmas etc), Jan & Feb stay the same and back to 0.5lbs off in March 2014.

I have some weights, I do them on my arms the few times I actually go on the bike.

I really fancy doing one of those bootcamp/military fitness type programs where you meet in a field and do loads of hard exercises for 6 weeks or so. Even better I right fancy going to those week long camp thingys where you eat nothing but lentils or whatever and are up at 5AM for a 10 mile run every morning, but they are all out of my budget ATM. Maybe once Im working again.

kalidanger · 20/03/2013 21:24

You're all safe! And I'm knackered! I'm treating myself to one single can of Heineken. Just had a mad craving, and still 700+ under for today Shock

Lilleth I admire your organisation. Have to say I'm keeping my plan as simple as possible as there's less to go wrong, iyswim. But that's me. Never done this before Smile

An acquaintance of mine does bootcamp and shd looks amazing.

KettleCrunch · 20/03/2013 21:28

Lizzylou Glad you were joking about Gillian!

I'm off to the gym to start on the weights tomorrow - looking forward to it! I only ever go running at the moment so I'm loving the idea of doing exercise while standing still... I'm sure it's not as easy as it sounds though!

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 20/03/2013 22:32

I know you've all moved on but that red pepper is just too funny! And I'd still do it if it rid me of the bloated tum

Weights don't bulk I promise - it makes you more efficient at burning calories. I do weights - once a month with proper body building ones. It just means you burn calories longer after. I asked a gym trainer dude to teach me to use them. Was the best hundred quid I ever spent.

I would just like to point out that this is my first time as a size 10 since I've been buying grown up clothes I once had a very nice ra-ra skirt for an aged 10 I used to be a 12. And I have, compared to my waist and top half, a huge arse. And huge thighs. And they're still bigger than a stick thin sized 10 dude. I still will have problems getting jeans because I don't have a nice small pert bottom. My nut cracking butt cheeks are not for jeans. I think its the 2:5 with an increase in cardio - it just works for me because I like a weekend binge.

And hurrah for the jeans that made you cry fitting. I give you six weeks and then they'll be too big Randall

This world outside of the internet you speak of ... is it scary?

Lizzylou · 21/03/2013 08:15

Tea, am sure you look fab!

I lost another pound! I could feel I had, so weighed in on proper weigh day.
Seems my body is finally waking up and playing ball.
Running always makes me lose quick though, last time I was running a lot I was sometimes losing 5lbs a week Shock
That would be fab just before my birthday Grin

Tabbykat · 21/03/2013 08:28

Managed to get round W2R1 yesterday - definitely found it a bit harder than the first week but got through it, which is good. Legs feeling it today, though - all down the back of my achilles.

Still no weight off though - grr!

Lizzylou · 21/03/2013 08:33

Tabby, it will happen.
I found that once I could run for 20minutes at a time the weight started shifting.

Keep at it!

Tabbykat · 21/03/2013 08:56

Ha! A way to go yet then! Still, will plough on....

DoubleMum · 21/03/2013 09:12

Well done Lizzy and Tabby* - what brilliant Chiefs we have here.

OP posts:
LillethTheCat · 21/03/2013 09:21

I know I shouldn't have done, but I weighed myself this morning. I normally weigh on Fridays, but on Sat I decided to give 5:2 a go with starving myself on Mon and Thurs so on Mon I tried to stick to as close to 500 cals as possible and had 1300 cals so on Tues I knew I was going to TGI Fridays for lunch so only ate that all day, yesterday I started with MFP so this morning I thought Id have a sneaky peak this morning. Anyway on Fri I was 11st 8.8lbs this morning I was 11st 7.8lbs, but then (TMI ALERT) I went to the loo and weighed myself again and was 11st 7lbs. Not counting it though as tomorrow is official weigh-in day, but its looking good. Makes me feel a little more relaxed about today's possible calorie intake.

Lovely sunny day here today and might consider going for a run or a walk later, its too nice and the snow is coming tomorrow for the next few days so want to make the most of it, plus it will burn cals, the only problem is I have stuff to do.

Tabby Well done on the running, once you get into it a bit more over the next few weeks you will be addicted (or at least that's how it worked for me)

DoubleMum · 21/03/2013 11:01

Good job Lilleth, all motivational!
My trousers definitely feel looser today and I feel a bit more springy.

OP posts:
BsshBossh · 21/03/2013 14:00

Well I haven't yet summoned the courage to go clothes shopping yet but I picked up a new knitting pattern for a jumper today and I worked out I need the medium size. I haven't been medium sized in years Grin. I'm fasting today - trying to aim for 22 hours - so I need to keep my hands busy when I finish work.

Well done on the losses Lizzy and Lilleth.

Tabby well done on the C25K. I've fallen off that wagon as I've discovered speed walking at a 5% incline (treadmill obviously) works wonders for my fitness with minimum impact on my knees. But I am adding in running to that - so today I did 5 minutes continuous running with a view to adding on a minute each time I go to the gym.

Right, back to work.

TheTigerDidntComeToTea · 21/03/2013 17:25

I had a work dinner last night, lovely Italian restaurant. Ate far too much of course, but came home & checked this thread & you'd all been talking about poo & red peppers and guess what was in my pasta last night??
Hi to all the new folk, it's great to see the thread is still going at the end of March! I'm ten0six on mfp if you want to add me? I'll need to change one name so they match!Smile

DoubleMum · 21/03/2013 17:28

LOL Tiger, I love red pepper, me.
