My turn to fall off the wagon chiefs :( disheartened by no weight loss this week. Ugh. Going to try 5:2 next week I think. I think also possibly some of MFP's calorie estimates were quite conservative for some of my meals!

DoubleMum · 21/03/2013 20:02

I didn't find 5:2 too hard to do Kettle, hope that suits you.

OP posts:
DoubleMum · 21/03/2013 20:02

PS. The wagon will always wait and hover if you need it to!

OP posts:
RandallPinkFloyd · 21/03/2013 20:17

Don't worry about it Kettle, you haven't gained that's the main thing. Staying the same is no biggy. You'll lose again next week no doubt about it.

Lilleth you may have missed it the other day but you are now the 3rd person to prove that a good crap weighs 0.8lb. Therefore I deem it a fact.

Does anyone mind if I shout for a minute?....

SOMEONE NOTICED I'VE LOST WEIGHT!

I shit you not. Someone finally noticed. It was someone I work with, I didn't even think she liked me very much. Her actual words were "Have you lost a shed load of weight?".

I may have hugged her in the middle of the office Blush

DoubleMum · 21/03/2013 20:20

Bless you Randall, you do realise it's like rats don't you, if one person tells you they've noticed there'll be seventy billion who've noticed but haven't said anything.

OP posts:
BsshBossh · 21/03/2013 20:27

Kettle we all all off the wagon, it's par for the course. The road to success lies in not letting it derail you. I wouldn't be too hasty to try a different way of dieting, imho. Try another week or two (actually, a month! is better). Otherwise you may find yourself chopping and changing "plans" and giving up all the time. You need to develop "dieting stamina".

I hate the word diet but couldn't think of anything better.

I love 5:2 but gave good old-fashioned calorie controlled dieting a good 12 months (with lots of falling off the wagon) before changing to something different (see my stats up thread).

Stick with us Chief, we'll motivate you :)

BsshBossh · 21/03/2013 20:27

*fall off the wagon

BsshBossh · 21/03/2013 20:30

Forgot to say Kettle be ruthlessly honest about your serving sizes on MFP. Weigh and measure everything, log every mouthful. You won't have to do it for long until a) you are instinctively able to gauge calories by sight alone and b) your appetite decreases naturally as your stomach does.

Tabbykat · 22/03/2013 07:31

Great news Randall - see, it's all worth it! Have to do a load of exercise today as out for dinner with friend tonight and she wants to go to a local Italian. The food is nice but definitely not v diet-friendly!

Knackered as up all night with DD2 who has now got the same stomach bug DD1 had last week - thought she'd got away with it but sadly not. Several rounds of washing for me to enjoy today.....still, should be glad it's not worse. There's slapped cheek, scarlet fever, chicken pox and impetigo going round at school....the joys of young children Hmm

Lizzylou · 22/03/2013 07:41

Kettle, don't feel disheartened. We all have blips. Marathon not a sprint n all that.
Go Randall!
It has snowed. Park run tomorrow looking unlikely!!!

LillethTheCat · 22/03/2013 07:54

Randall Well done on someone noticing, and yes I thought someone would have mentioned how much a poo weighed before now (after all this is Mumsnet and we like to talk about bums etc Grin ), but I was shocked, I thought maybe 0.2lbs, but not that much.

Kettle Sorry to hear you're falling off the wagon a bit, I know how disheartening it can be if it doesn't go to plan. Hope 5:2 gives you a good week or that you manage to shed some pounds soon.

Lizzylou Another one here who's having to miss Parkrun this week Sad I live rurally and really dont fancy driving to get to it, plus it can get quite icy on the course and I dont fancy walking half of it.

Well official weigh-in today and it was still 11st 7 so thats 1.8lbs lost since last week.

This morning its shopping so going to buy low cal food, but got to have breakfast now as it will be awful shopping while hungry and I will just buy biscuits and cake.

BsshBossh · 22/03/2013 08:25

8 Mar 13 - 155
15 Mar 13 - 153
22 Mar 13 - 152

RandallPinkFloyd · 22/03/2013 09:18

Well done Lilleth, that's a great loss for your first week.

Well done Bssh as always!

Enjoy your lovely meal tonight Tabby, very jealous, I love Italian food.

DS has caught my stinking cold and has consequently decamped into my bed. Unfortunately he is waking every half hour because he can't breathe so I've had about 3 hours sleep in as many days. Obviously he's picked my 2 work days to do this Hmm but thankfully we've had a fucktonne of snow overnight and it's still coming down so we're having a snow day instead!

Will a lack of sleep help or hinder weight loss. I'm desperately seeking a silver lining to my cloud as the tiredness and snottiness is making me ridiculously hungry Sad

(As regards the poo thing - 2 people reporting having lost 0.8lb after having a poo before they weighed, that's proof enough for me Grin )

Lizzylou · 22/03/2013 09:22

Yay Lilleth.
Bssh you are such an inspiration! Well done.

Randall, lots of healthy soups? But yes, dieting is shite when you are tired.

Lilleth, I am unnaturally annoyed at having to miss Parkrun, I have been running this week in an attempt to get my PB down!! Sad case.

I am very grumpy today. Everyone seems to be pecking my head about one thing or another.

RandallPinkFloyd · 22/03/2013 09:35

Blimey Lizzy how awesome are you! Annoyed at not being able to run? Wanting to get down your PB?

You're like a keep fit machine!

DoubleMum · 22/03/2013 09:37

Tabby a school near us is closed today because more than half of the children and the teachers were off sick yesterday.
Snow here too, but only light.
Well done Lilleth and Bssh, go Chiefs!
Lizzy you need to get some baby bunnies, they are remarkably good for alleviating grumpiness. At the moment they are snuggling up together and Samantha is licking Truffles' ears. (Just in case the mental image helps with the grumpiness)
Surely there are different grades of poo, I'm sure some could weigh up to a stone (but I'd prefer not to experience them).

BsshBossh · 22/03/2013 11:00

No snow here in London. Boo hoo, I want snow so long as I don't need to drive anywhere this weekend !

DH at conference today and all day Saturday which will mean a lowish calorie couple of days as we do alot of eating when he's around. I'm sure I'll find a way to make up for it though, especially as DD has a birthday to attend which means cake in the party bag - she doesn't like cake strange child so... I mean, it would be a crime to chuck cake in the bin, wouldn't it Grin.

dinkydoos · 22/03/2013 11:10

Hello all.
Snow here, and rather bored with it now..
Weighed yesterday after second fast of week and had stayed same which is annoying. Doing a sort of mini fast today where not going to eat till tonight but then eat normally, as even though done my 2 fasts this week, I was worrying about 4 consecutive eating days, and the result of that on scales!
Bit peeved with it all tbh, as weight just not coming off v quickly... And still need to lose 3 lb to get to my mini target before my holiday on 2nd April.
And am out on girls night tomorrow , so will have a shit load of calories then!
Arggggh!

kalidanger · 22/03/2013 11:38

Heeey well done Lilleth and Bssh It really is inspiring Smile

No snow in London THANK GOD! That really would put pay to my will-she-won't-she plans for swimming later Hmm

Dinky Golly, April is rushing up fast but you can do it!

LillethTheCat · 22/03/2013 11:59

Lizzy Im also annoyed at having to miss it, Im actually annoyed at this bloody weather, I want to get on with running 4 times a week. I have a plan of where and when I am going to run each week, but until it stops snowing Im waiting. I know its an excuse and I could get out in it, but why go out and not enjoy it. After all running is a hobby for me so I might as well enjoy it when I go out.

BsshBossh · 22/03/2013 13:01

Anyone seen this link:
www.notahomer.co.uk/2013/03/15/s01se01-special-episode-body-image/

It takes age and gender into account ref. body fat. I come out much better on this body fat scale than the standard ones. I like Grin

DoubleMum · 22/03/2013 14:42

The really low body fat pics weren't my cup of tea at all. Of course I'm at the other end of the scale where I'd also rather not be.

OP posts:
LillethTheCat · 22/03/2013 16:28

What do you do when you want to eat crap?

Also what do you do when the rest of the family want Maccy D's. In all fairness we've not had it for ages and Im refusing to go today due to the snow, but I know I will have to go at some point in the future so what do you do?

Im hungry today and not feeling it. Ive filled out MFP for today's meals, but I know there will be something else in there which will take me over the edge. We have cheesecake in. I think today might be a maintain weight type of day. Well it is the weekend I suppose Grin

DoubleMum · 22/03/2013 16:51

The chicken salad is low cal at McD's, I'd have that next time, but last time I had one of the wraps. Even both of them isn't that bad.
Cheesecake is usually quite high calorie, I'm avoiding that one. Soon however I'll be on a ship surrounded by gorgeous desserts so that's going to take some willpower.
For wanting to eat crap, distraction is a good one, and if it doesn't work, you could try eating some fruit before the crap, to make you eat less crap.

OP posts:
LillethTheCat · 22/03/2013 17:19

Thanks for the tips, dont like salad though. I usually have a quarter pounder with cheese as it comes with no lettuce. I keep trying to get into lettuce and salad, but its not there. There's always more exciting things to eat Grin

I have no willpower at all and would be rubbish being surrounded by gorgeous desserts.

Will definately try the fruit trick. So I fancy cake, eat a banana (or apple, pear or whatever) then have cake.
