Week 7 - New Year Low Carb Bootcamp - Where We Get Tough!

Morning campers

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

This week sees the start of Ubercamp. This is entirely optional, by the way!

The idea is that we have three very strict days, keeping our carbs under 20g each day and consuming no dairy.

If you want to take part, I have put together three days' worth of meals as a guide - one which includes eggs and one which is an egg-free plan for those of you who don't like eggs. I'll also do one today which is purely fish-based.

As well as the meal plans, I've also written shopping lists and some recipes, where necessary, and the lovely Willie has put these on the spreadsheet - just look at the tabs at the bottom.

Ladies, I am giving blood tomorrow. what can I eat afterwards? Last time I resisted the free crisps and had 3 baby bells but clearly if I am über camping I can't.

I don't think they'll let me out unless I eat. The question is what though!

I wonder if sausages are allowed, you could have some mini ones, cold?

Or could you make up some tuna or ham wrapped in little gems?

I STS this week - complete surprise after the amount of pain killers and sitting very still. Also, out for dinner on Friday I had wine (and a tiny slice of bread).

Conversation with DH this morning
Me: Back to Bootcamp.
DH: Boo.
Me: Didn't you like your creamy scrambled eggs this morning?
DH: Yes, but they didn't feel very 'Bootcamp-y"
Me: Hmm...this is all about fun and health and giving our bodies lovely things. Bootcamp sounds a bit hard... Bootcamp is now Spa Day or Treat Day in our house.
DH: Woohoo! Treat Day!

(yes, we do actually talk like this, but not in front of other people Grin)

Today will be mustard chicken from previous thread - very excited and will go out and buy swede or celeriac specially.

Lavender I love these little marital insights Grin

sybil could you take in a pack of cooked meat, maybe sliced roast chicken or beef?

Ubercamp day one done. All the weird feeling has passed so I think I did have a mini-carb-flu.

weighed this morning, 1lb off. Getting there!

hello hello
hope you all having a good week
just dropping in quickly to update spreadsheet, STS but happy with that as i have yet another period so i guess the hormones have yet to settle down... will try and get back later to catch up... unscheduled visit to parents and wonky internet connection, but on the plus side my mum is low carbing... hurrah! no chocolate cake on the menu and lots of lovely green veg so i should be able to stay on track!
BIWI the uber camp looks fab... I will follow that when i get home!

I'm off to Lidl todaySmile. I don't have any locally but collecting DD from MILs house and there's one on the way. What should I get? Full fat yoghurt, obviously (we have all the major supermarkets here but none of them stock ff Greek yoghurt!). Anything else worth getting from Lidl?

They're doing really good Cremona Parma Ham and salami at the moment. Even their ordinary Parma ham/jambon de Serrano is good.

Pork belly slices.

Multi packs of pork scratchings for 99p

Celeriac, neeps and shredded kale.

I have been to Lidl this morning Grin

Lidl's cream and cream cheese and butter are all much cheaper than elsewhere and nice.

I love love love their smoked trout fillets, and smoked mackerel.

And this week they have broccoli and cauliflower on offer, 69p each, and strawberries also 69p if you are bootcamp light or have DC who like them.

Eggs 99p for 6 medium free rangers.

Free range whole chickens also good value.

Baby spinach is cheaper than the big supermarkets too.

Tbh most things are cheaper and I get most stuff from Lidl these days. Enjoy!

Right, I'm back from my Lidl trip. The traffic was really slow, lots of roadworks, so my time there was very limited. Had to be at MIL's on time, you know. Also couldn't get signal on my phone, so couldn't check the recommendations here like I planned to doHmm.
Anyway, managed to grab 1l tub of yoghurt, lots of salami and celeriac. Not happy that I didn't see the pork scratchings..
Have made my Lidl shopping list now, thanks everyone for the suggestions!
I might need to visit MIL more often nowWink.

Ewan Grin

I'm now looking forward to a visit to Lidl on Saturday. More excited than looking forward. Just realised I was excited in previous message. It's quite a nice feeling.

mumat I made chicken tikka for lunch today by grabbing some mini chicken fillets this morning putting them in a microwave steam bag with a desertspoon of tikka masala paste and some oil and mixing up. They sat in the frige at work til lunch when I cooked it ( 2 mins in microwave) and ate with big green salad, 1/2 avacado and a couple of cherry tomatoes.
V nice and commented on by work colleagues about smelling nice and looking healthy.

Could you try something like this for your curry fix? Then you won't be tempted by all the side dishes

Uberbootcamp dinner is all prepped. Can you believe that I've never made my own coleslaw before? You can? Oh.

Anyway.. glad to see lots of Lidl-Love on here. Cheap bresaola and thermal undercrackers in one handy store.

... and once you've made your own coleslaw then there's no going back!

Just coming up to end of uber camp day one - I've just made my work salad for tomorrow and totally amazed by how much 80g of salad is! I've been hungry this afternoon but hope that should calm down tomorrow once it's really set in. Chicken thighs and garlic spinach smelling amazing so off to eat them!

Pork scratching multipacks you say?? I shall be taking a wander to Lidl again tomorrow I feel. Grin Obviously purely because we need washing up liquid...

Sounds lovely Ilisten I might try that.

DD is doing my HEAD in this evening, and is now being bathed by DH. Normally I would be here now devouring flapjack/chocolate until I felt less tense, so the fact that I have only fallen off the wagon as far as an apple and 2 strawberries in yogurt this evening is an achievement for me.

Btw guys I tried basil and parmesan in my scrambled eggs this morning. Whilst edible, I can't say it's worth bothering with again!

L: Small slice cold pork, slice of cheese, part fillet smoked trout, spinach, cucumber, radish, broccoli stalk and avocado
D: Stirfried pork, beansprouts, broccoli, mushrooms and egg fried cauli rice.

Went to friends for lunch and ended up cooking it!

Spinach and feta Filo pie. Eggs, feta, pine nuts mixed up and added to Filo pastry base and baked. With big salad. And then friend brought out a big crumble and cheese and blueberries for me!

A good friend methinks. And I avoided the pastry bit.

Quite stressful day with going-back-to-work things happening.

Have had 2 boiled eggs, ff yoghurt with (quite a lot of) almonds, bacon, 1/2 avocado, mushrooms, prawn cocktail. Am about to have a bit of chicken.

I cannot find the lower carb almond milk for love or money (come on Waitrose, get some back in!!)

But I feel much calmer than I would have expected given what is going on.
