Just thought I would start a new thread, seeing as we are perilously close to the 1000 posts cut off!

We have all started WW this January and so far so good, we are all losing. This is a really supportive group. Please feel free to join us and share your WW tips and any recipes that you may have. Smile

I did the Filling & Healthy food list for the first 4 weeks, and I've counted since then. I've just avoided snacks, used oil sparingly, cut down on fat and sugar, and alcohol. I'm also eating slightly smaller portions, but still making sure that I eat food I like. I have just adapted the recipes that I use to be lower fat. I cook rather than buy ready meals, it means that you're in control of everything that you eat.

So thank you! I am delighted.

Mrs Rudy, Do you have just a small amount to lose (seems to be slower losses than for those with more to lose IYSWIM!) or could it be to do with your period?

Sally - well done - that is fantastic - your clothes must be feeling very roomySmile

MrsRudyRudpoo · 13/02/2013 11:06

Hi bigTillyMint - no, about 3 stone unfortunately, so don't even have that as an excuse!

flatmouse · 13/02/2013 11:17

Sally that is fantastic, well done! MrsRudy how very disheartening, but try not to loose faith, you may have a massive weight loss next week and as others have said, at least try to use all your dailies - i try to use all dailes (which is not normally a problem!), about half my weeklies and none of my exercise points. I know i NEED to increase my exercise points (currently average approx 24 /week).

Wondering how to use the 10 dailies i'll have left by end of today. My mind keeps thinking - well that's half a bottle of wine (and still leave a daily), but i really don't want to go down that route for the sake of it!
Have got 2 small bananas chopped up in freezer now which i will blend tonight to try the "ice cream" - if all OK, then for Saturday plan on doing a kind of spiced baked pears (made with only 1 glass of wine to keep the points down) to go with the ginger flavoured free ice cream. Think i worked it out as 2.5pp (leaving plenty for wine ;-) )

SallyBear · 13/02/2013 11:51

Just had an early lunch, as I'm cold and tired today. Poached eggs on wholemeal nimble toast with bacon medallions. All free with F&H. I thought I'd switch back this week and see if it makes any difference.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 13/02/2013 12:58

Nimble toast?Grin I didn't know you could still get that!

Flatmouse, 24 isn't bad for exercise points. Do you have a really large daily allowance of points? I find that 26 is barely enough and I have to save all my weeklies for weekends when we tend to be eating/drinking out, etc

Rudy, just keep going, it'll start to shift soon I bet!

Oscarandelliesmum · 13/02/2013 13:51

Hi all, congrats on all the brilliant losses! I have found these threads so supportive, even though I tend to lurk rather than post. My phone is stuck on latvian predictiveAngry and typing is sloooooow! Just wanted to add. Rudy I have been under and not using all my dailies. Seemed odd to eat more than I need and I haven't lost weight since week one. Am going to take advice to eat all my dailies at the very least. Sounds like we may be in similar boats... Questions to the shreders, is it brutal?!?

SallyBear · 13/02/2013 14:33

BigTilly. I discovered Hovis Nimble. It comes in three varieties, white brown or granary. I've only had the brown bread. It's fine and makes excellent toast too!

Definitely try and eat all your points, they're there for a reason, if eating less than that would be the best for weight loss WW would set it lower Wink

DP really struggles to eat all his though. He's on 53! As he's a man who has about 6 stone to lose Grin but he's had better losses when he's eaten more points. He's started to make substitutions to use them up easier, so when I have extra light mayo he'll have normal mayo, normal NY bagels instead of WW ones, that kinda thing. And as he loses weight he can switch to extra light mayo and WW bagels to save on points Smile

I think it's about just trusting WW and the system, it feels daunting because to so many people (me included!), a 'diet' to lose weight is so restrictive. But those diets have never worked for me, which is why I'm here Grin

onthemetro · 13/02/2013 15:55

Well done on the loss Sally! Smile

SallyBear · 13/02/2013 16:04

Thank you Metro!
Yes you must use up your daily points and try and use your weeklies. This is the advice that I've heard, and I think as Metro said WW would have given everyone less pp if that was the case. The weeklies should be seen as a treat or a safety net. As people get caught short all the time!

Oscarandelliesmum · 13/02/2013 16:17

Thanks Sally and Metro. Off to find myself a chocolate biccie Grin

mrsv2 · 13/02/2013 16:25

whats everyone having for tea?? We are having Pork loin chop, roasted veg ( peppers, onions, courgettes, tomatoes and aubergine, with roasted new potatoes. I reckon about 12pp

SallyBear · 13/02/2013 16:42

Sounds lovely MrsV. I do that, but stick chicken thighs in with the veg and roast it all in one pan with stock. Very nice indeed!

OP posts:
SallyBear · 13/02/2013 16:43

We are having chicken enchilada - I fancied something warming Grin

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 13/02/2013 16:44

We are having salmon in chilli and ginger with stir fry veg and noodles. Haven't done the points yet!

onthemetro · 13/02/2013 16:47

I'm having gammon steak with a fried egg (in fry light, of course!) and some M&S potato wedges - works out to be 6pp for about 150g. DP is having pineapple too but just the thought of having that freaks me out a bit Grin

SallyBear · 13/02/2013 17:04

I do love gammon steaks. We quite often have gammon. I love it with potato dauphinois but that's hugely calorific!

OP posts:
mrsv2 · 13/02/2013 17:37

Tilly.... I had similar last night with pork tenderloin and it pointed to 11pp

jazzcat28 · 13/02/2013 17:40

I'm having rump steak with Jamie Oliver 15min meals ratatouille and either a small portion of pasta or rice.

Can't wait!

Like the sound of the meat & roasted veg option, might plan for that next week

NoWayNoHow · 13/02/2013 18:08

We're having stir fry beef with oyster sauce, chillis, broccoli, Mage tout and roasted cashew nuts - only 8pp! Will stick it on the recipe thread if i get a chance as its delicious. the oyster sauce gives it so much flavour...

Hoping it will fill me up as I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything at all tomorrow morning (have to be in hospital for 7:45am!!) - knowing my luck, my op will be at 5pm and I'll be a shivering, starving, dehydrated mess by then!

And as I'm not eating all day, I have splashed out on the Waitrose Valentines meal nothing to do with DH not being able cook. Mussels for starter, steak frites for main, then ridiculously pointy choc desserts. Hoping to be able to enjoy it all!

SallyBear · 13/02/2013 18:36

Good luck with your op Noway.

jazzcat28 · 13/02/2013 20:01

Good luck for tomorrow NoWay, that valentine's meal sounds well worth it!

I am having my first valentine's day as a wife at home alone whilst 'D'H goes to his regular sport. Angry

At the moment he's engrossed in the football and doesn't seem to notice my huffing in disappointment. Oh well. I have 2/3 of a bottle of rose in the fridge which may relieve my pain tomorrow!

onthemetro · 13/02/2013 20:26

Good luck for tomorrow, NoWay. Valentine's meal sounds delicious! When you said pointy, I was imagining a really tall, pointed chocolate pyramid thing Grin

mrsv2 · 13/02/2013 20:38

We had BBQ pork chops in the end.....so tasty. DH bbq'd them whilst it was snowing lol
