Just thought I would start a new thread, seeing as we are perilously close to the 1000 posts cut off!

We have all started WW this January and so far so good, we are all losing. This is a really supportive group. Please feel free to join us and share your WW tips and any recipes that you may have. Smile

Sorry MsIng not Mrs BlushBlush

onthemetro · 27/03/2013 11:06

Well done chilly and fled!

Don't worry about the bacon roll, right after a WI is the best time to eat something pp laden, I figure, because you've got the whole week to make up for it Grin

chillyigloo · 27/03/2013 11:21

Haha Fled - Almost every time I have a loss I 'reward' myself and end up blowing my weeklies before I've even started the new week. Ah well - it's still working Smile Could murder a bacon roll right now...

OhTheConfusion · 27/03/2013 12:50

Hi everyone, I STS yesterday... goodness knows why as I ate mars bars (don't even really like them), bread, crisps and a whole easter egg after having a horrid few days Sad. Perhaps the gain will appear next week!

Well done on the loses this week. I need to get my note book out, I definately eat better when I write it down.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 27/03/2013 13:00

Well done Fled that's amazing!!! Here's a link to the spreadsheet.

A good friend of mine has just bought a three month subscription to WW based on my recommendation so I asked another good friend who lost weight last year for her top tips. I've copied them below as I think they're really useful:

Crunchie

I lost 3 and a half stone in just over 6 months and fingers crossed have kept it off apart from the odd couple of pounds. I think best tips are:

· Set yourself realistic weekly goals ? mine was 1.25lbs a week ? I basically wanted to lose the weight between Feb and October for xx's birthday so it worked out at that much a week. As it was I lost it quicker so it was a bonus

· If you fall off the wagon one day then just draw a line under it and go back to being good the next day, same if you weigh in and you?ve put weight on ? it?s not the end of the world.

· Use all of your points including the 49 and don?t make your life a misery by denying yourself stuff

· Make sure you eat a lot of pointless food to fill up and eat little and often

· WW alone won?t do it, you need to exercise which I know you do.

· When your clothes get too big chuck them out so you can?t wear them again and there?s more incentive to keep the weight off

· Finally, it really is a change to lifestyle and not a diet and that?s taken me a long time to come to terms with but I think I have now

fledtoscotland · 27/03/2013 14:17

Crunchie - can you add another column. I can't seem to do it on my phone. Tnx

mylittlecherub · 27/03/2013 15:00

Hello everyone,

Well it's my weigh in tonight and I took a sneaky peek at the scales earlier, doesn't look good :( aside from my binge Saturday night I have been alright so was hoping I'd got away with it, I haven't. Really annoyed with myself as I'd be in the 11's if I'd of stuck to it!

Tomorrow is a new day, back to it!

inquisitivemummy I agree if I am in a bad mood or tired I just can't be bothered and eat anything I can get my hands on, luckily I don't keep much bad food in the house so I can only get so far. For me when the weather cheers up, hopefully soon! I always feel better. My ww chocolate fix is porridge with cadburys highlights hot Choc in, this always fills me and I usually don't fancy anything else after that.

Well done those with losses! Inspiring me on to just stick with it! :D

AddictedtoCrunchies · 27/03/2013 15:36

DONE

backinaminute · 27/03/2013 16:37

Chocolate porridge sounds amazing- I might well try that, yum.

I saw on one of the ww Facebook statuses that someone had commented on, that they suggested making 0 point broccoli soup and adding laughing cow light, blue cheese favour - 1pp (I think). I thought it was a fab idea and I'm going to give it a go.

Does anyone have any suggestions for emergency meals, as in, when I've taken my eye off the boil and it's 5pm and I suddenly think - what's for dinner? Usually I'm pretty organised but I just wondered what other people's fall back suggestions are. Mine is pasta with broccoli and a sauce made from smoked salmon trimmings (that keep for ages in the fridge or freezer) and phillidelphia.

I just thought other people must do similar and wondered what they are?

fledtoscotland · 27/03/2013 17:04

My "emergency" meal is my pizza. Grill a wrap (3pts) turn it and lightly grill, spread with tomato purée, cover with chopped tomatoes, ham (2pts) or tuna (3pts) and low fat mozzarella (3pts for 60g) shove back under grill and serve with a green salad. Quick pizza for only 9pts Smile

mrsv2 · 27/03/2013 18:12

Not posted for a while as most days I haven't been good at all but another week and life becomes normal again and back to it. Despite no pointing apart from 1-2 days a week I have managed to STS which is great. I haven't had cake etc when out but have had a few high pointage evening meals, meals out and hot cross buns and lots of bacon sarnies. DH has fallen off his 5:2 diet but hope to encourage him back after Easter.
I'm really impressed with everyone's efforts.
I don't have an emergency meal as I try to be organised but reading the ideas with interest.
Hardest bit for me is DS is being weaned and all those yummy bits of food he doesn't want or throws off his plate ( like everything)..... Cheese sticks, toast, yogurts, it's such a waste. I am trying to just scoop it straight in the bin or stick a baby wipe over it so I can't see it. Any other tips for not picking at kids food

mylittlecherub · 27/03/2013 20:43

Been to weigh in and lost 1lb! (Shock) could not believe it, was nearly bouncing off the walls! I was sure I had put on (from the sneaky preview on my scales) walked in all fed up and feeling fat, went out feeling super pleased and thinner (just shows how much is psychological), anyway enough messing about for me, back on it as of tomorrow.

I like the emergency meals tips! I'm a terrible planner so these will definitely come in useful.

poorpaws · 27/03/2013 21:04

My emergency meal is frozen WW hotpot, 7 mins in microwave then finish under grill to brown. Lots of microwaved veg and pour hotpot on mountain of veg all for 6ppts. Very quick filling meal especially if you use quick to prepare veg like sugar snap peas, babycorn, broccoli, cauliflower (although I eat carrots with everything and am sick to death of preparing them).

Livinginorganisedchaos · 27/03/2013 21:30

Hello. Well done everyone on the losses this week, there are some very impressive losses and its also great to see people who are feeling disheartened get a pleasant surprise on the scales.

I am probably going to have to go off radar for a week or so and miss my weigh in on Friday. I am off to Ireland for a week to visit my parents. I am actually feeling quite anxious about going way off plan and putting tonnes of weight on. I always end up eating way too much on holiday and esp when my mother is cooking as she takes it as a personal insult if you don't eat everything including her puddings every night!

I am going to take my ipad and try to quietly point at times to limit the damage and I have also packed my running gear. Although the running will be snow dependent!

So, I will report back if I get wireless in the frozen rural wilderness of Ireland and try to keep the Easter egg consumption in single figures.

backinaminute · 27/03/2013 21:54

Enjoy your holiday Chaos. The way I look at this is that this is a lifestyle change and a long term thing. It's not practical to think that we can avoid this sort of thing forever. When I went away I just tried to make the best food choices I could - eg. Still had a bacon and egg sandwich but grilled the bacon, didn't have butter and had poached egg.

I think if you just enjoy yourself but be sensible and don't gorge it should be fine. If you're exercising and being more active that will help too. Have a great holiday. Grin

AddictedtoCrunchies · 27/03/2013 23:09

I have the willpower of a gnat. Had a dessert. It was gorgeous but I shouldn't have eaten it as I was full. Now I'm in bed and feel uncomfortably stuffed. Plus annoyed at myself. Why didn't I just say no? Sad

Friday's weigh in won't be good.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 28/03/2013 07:48

Was sick during the night so definitely ate too much rich food. Amazing how your body changes and gets used to simple food. Sadly I don't think a was pick enough to negate the banoffi pie Wink Feel a bit wobbly this morning though and off to the zoo.

backinaminute · 28/03/2013 14:17

Crunchie - I did that with dominos a couple of weeks ago. I think it's good to realise though that it is excessive whereas before I would have wolfed down a banoffee pie without a second thought. Start again today and I'm sure you'll have loads of activity points!

I've just had my broccoli and fake blue cheese soup for lunch and it was fab. Clearly I have learnt nothing about portion control as I have polished off the whole lot.

WI for me tonight - I'm hoping to hit a big milestone. Fingers crossed. I will be back later with tales of woe or excitement depending on the outcome. Grin

MsIngaFewmarbles · 28/03/2013 16:27

WI tonight. I have just weighed myself at home and have put on 1.5lb since last week, it's only my second week. Oh the shame, I might not go :(

onthemetro · 28/03/2013 16:53

Aw Crunchie, sorry to hear that you were sick. It happened to me too a week or so ago, all the crap I ate was nice when I was eating it but I really regretted it once the stomach pain and lethargy kicked in! It's so weird to me to think that I used to eat like that all the time, and I didn't feel quite so rubbish. But then I was a stone heavier and had awful skin and no energy, so it's more like I was just in a perpetual state of feeling like that and so didn't notice!

Good luck with the WI backinaminute! Broccoli and fake blue cheese soup sounds really nice, have you posted the recipe anywhere?

Enjoy the holiday chaos! I've got a similar problem coming up soon, MIL has a big birthday coming up and there's going to be a big surprise party for her and a meal out with all of DPs family in a posh restaurant. I've seen a sample menu and it doesn't look too bad, there are some grilled fish options and lots of vegetables on the menu so I should be alright.

This will be the third different meeting I go to when I go to MILs, I'm really glad WW have the monthly pass option!

Whats everyone doing for the Easter weekend? I'm going to go wild and have a creme egg for 5pp Grin

DPs got some rather big things going on in work right now, he's doing something really quite important as I type and I'm sitting here shaking! Can't say too much as it'd definitely out me though who knows why anyone I know would be on MN in this particular thread! but it'll be a massive change for us if everything goes ok and i'm so nervous and excited for him that I want to cry Blush

onthemetro · 28/03/2013 16:58

MsInga please still go! If you've put on weight, maybe the talk at the meeting will inspire you again, and you can get the new magazine if you don't already have it . And if you've STS or lost you can breathe a sigh of relief. My scales at home are so vastly different from the scales at WI too, it might not be as bad as you think.

I put on weight on the very first week I did WW, I was so embarrassed because I was expecting to lose about 6lbs because it was my first week! Turns out I'd totally misunderstood something and I needed to talk to the leader to figure out where I was going wrong. So I'd say it's still important to go, you'll find help, advice and encouragement if you do but if you don't go you'll be feeling like shit thinking you've gained. Think how much more positive you'd feel if you could say 'Yes, I gained, but I still went and I was proactive and I sorted out why it happened'? Smile

fledtoscotland · 28/03/2013 17:56

Does anyone have the recipe for 0pts broccoli soup? Sounds great with the laughing cow blue cheese triangle

STIDW · 28/03/2013 18:20

Well done everyone for loosing weight or not putting any on. I lost 3.2lbs and I'm happy with that.

Fled, nothing wrong with bacon rolls as long as the bacon is grilled. I lost 10st before and ate plenty of ham with cheese and mushroom omelettes too.

Those omelettes with salad and a slice of bread (8pts) were my emergency meal standbys. They are very filling.

STIDW · 28/03/2013 18:33

MsInga, you may find your weight is different when you weigh in. I find mine fluctuates quite a bit on the scales depending on the time of day and day of the week. It's only by averaging out your weight over three or four weeks that you can see if a pattern is emerging. This time it took a few weeks to work out I need to stick with the daily points and only use the weeklies if something very special comes along.

fledtoscotland · 28/03/2013 19:10

Alas it was dry fried bacon Blush but was still v nice

Went out for lunch today to a local restaurant that does a WW menu. Had asparagus with poached egg to start followed by their pasta & veg cheese bake pointed at 7pts. Was only 8.95 for two courses too.
