I F - 5:2 - 4:3 - Maintaining the healthy weight

TalkinPeace2 · 01/02/2013 16:59

This thread is for those who have been doing IF for quite a while and are now at or nearing their target healthy weight.

How do we experience fasts and balance a stable food intake while having little or no weight to lose?

How to we ensure that this WOE does keep us at the healthy weight long term rather than revert to yoyo games?

I have now been at the same weight for a month. I'm happy with that. I'm also still enjoying the 24 hour fasts because of the clear mindedness I get during them.

How about you?

Thanks Betsy I don't mind the attention, some people pay good money for these boobs! (in fact a friend of mine has just had hers surgically reduced by 2 sizes, something I have managed to do just by 5:2, I think I am now a respectable 34DD/E rather than an inflated 34 F/G)

Good idea re ebay, I'm off to have a look.

Bordercollielover · 17/02/2013 14:30

Yes, thanks B&W, that's the one.

GiraffesEatPineapples · 17/02/2013 15:10

Interesting article bcl and bandw it could explain though why some people are less successful on this woe, someone eating processed food Wii be taking in more calories than someone eating raw or home made food even thigh on my fitness pal it might appear that they are consuming the same calories.

GiraffesEatPineapples · 17/02/2013 15:17

No shred Bear but went on dps cross trainer. The last tune I tried before this woe it hurt my knees too much but today only a slight bag near the end. Wonder if its just a coincidence?

Doing my first back to back fast today but not many cals left for dinner

french we are going to Paris in 3 months, I hope I can be in a similar position to you looking for a new wardrobe!

Iwearblack · 17/02/2013 15:23

Good article thanks for posting. A very good justification for home cooking and leaving the processed dinners behind. I like the idea of having something in your diet to feed your gut bacteria and keep them healthy - healthy guts is the road to happiness!

frenchfancy · 17/02/2013 15:41

You should be able to in 3 months giraffes. I love Paris.

No shred today but I did do my C25K wk5 r3 as well as an hours horse riding.

Thanks to betsy I've spent the afternoon on e-bay Grin

Breadandwine · 17/02/2013 17:25

There's a mention in the article about Dr Robert Lustig; in his film, The Bitter Truth (link on the T&P thread), he is very vocal that 'A calorie is not always a calorie'!

Calories from High Fructose Corn Syrup (which is in every-bloody-thing) are in a different league entirely from calories from fresh food. The fact that HFCS is taken in by the body without it registering hunger, for instance. If you haven't yet seen the film, you simply must!

Aftereightsarenolongermine · 17/02/2013 19:20

A very interesting article. If I remember correctly eating celery uses more calories in digestion than in the actual celery.

Thanks bcl feeling much better & yes was easier to recover when not as heavy. & all my results were negative so very pleased.

ff enjoy your shopping spree.

AmericasTorturedBrow · 18/02/2013 00:34

Aw lovely clothes FF, how much fun - I miss my 34DD boobs so much. Apparently they're now 34C/D but post bf two children they're so empty and saggy I feel like there's nothing there Sad

Interesting article - I tend to cook from scratch anyway but have consumed a lot of chocolate on non fast days recently. Scales have just oscillated recently so I'm dropping from ADF to 4:3, as that worked before.

50 miles was HARD! I've never cycled that far only life but quite chuffed that including some rest stops and a few effing big hills I did it in just over 3hours.

Still terrified of doing 545miles in a week though, but had a few donations to my fundraising effort today which makes it all worth it. No shred for me today but I might attempt a low intensity version tomorrow to stop my muscles seizing up after today

NurseEzzzaChapel · 18/02/2013 08:02

I?m guessing that Scientific American blog says that calories from junk food are worse than the same number of calories from real food or something along those lines. I can?t read it myself because blog sites are blocked here Angry but I?d definitely agree. Those of you checking in on the main 5:2 thread will know I?ve been forced by circumstance (no access to a kitchen to cook for myself and due to Chinese new year all of the mom-and-pop restaurants have been closed) to eat junk (only the big chain junk food shops stayed open) for the last week and a half. My weight loss has completely stalled even though I?m still faithfully doing 4:3, don?t snack between meals anymore and have taken up shuffling around a running track running. The last few days I?ve also been feeling awful: low on energy, a bit down and a bit sluggish. Well yesterday the mom-and-pop places started opening up and I got to eat some real food for dinner last night. I feel much better already!

(P.S. change of name but I think you all still know who I am!)

frenchfancy · 18/02/2013 16:16

Where is everyone today? I'm shredding are you?

Vegetarian shepherds pie for dinner. Modified recipe so it comes in at 450 cals :)

BetsyVanBell · 18/02/2013 16:30

Not shredding today :( Having a hard fast day today, partly I think because I ache in such odd places! Telling myself through gritted teeth it's all worth it...

Will shred tomorrow though, definitely.

frenchfancy · 18/02/2013 17:21

I'm shredded. Come one where are the rest of you. Those abs won't tighten themselves [evil jillian emoticon]

Skinnyeye · 18/02/2013 17:52

I'm playing badminton - no shred for me lol

GiraffesEatPineapples · 18/02/2013 18:06

Evil Jillians I have shredded with weights today, then did Wii zumba and only the slightest ache in knee (being reasonably careful) Grin. On day 3 of a fast and today has been easy as busy with children and saved exercise for late in day.

GiraffesEatPineapples · 18/02/2013 18:09

Well done atd that is truly amazing! Andezza glad you have had some proper food and felling good again

Laska42 · 18/02/2013 18:18

Laska42 · 18/02/2013 18:51

Aha! Literary couldn't resist the lure of buns of steel eh? Grin

Yes their loss , but they did tell me they had 135 applicants and only interviewed 5 so that was pretty good .. it seems like I failed on the test a bit, .. was far too detailed in one area and not enough in another .. (I knew it, but its so hard to do get it all down in 30 mins I always find)..

Some possible TIP news? [http://www.52fastdiet.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=948&p=8656#p8656 look] so fingers crossed..

I've eaten LOADS this evening (has a bit of a binge really - ham, pickle cheese , crumpets with butter , some cold dhal out the bottom of the pan from last night which i couldnt just chuck) ..and Wine and feeling a bit bleugh now

Laska42 · 18/02/2013 18:53

sorry ill do that link to TIP again look

GiraffesEatPineapples · 18/02/2013 19:13

Reading between the lines whoop and fingers crossed!

Thought I would give myself a challenge with 3 days, funnily I got that old funny taste in my mouth today. it has been easy today otherwise I would have quit. Not fasting for the rest of the week I think.

Laska42 · 18/02/2013 19:52

Wow giraffes have you been on 500 cals a day or just tea/water?
