I F - 5:2 - 4:3 - Maintaining the healthy weight

This thread is for those who have been doing IF for quite a while and are now at or nearing their target healthy weight.

How do we experience fasts and balance a stable food intake while having little or no weight to lose?

How to we ensure that this WOE does keep us at the healthy weight long term rather than revert to yoyo games?

I have now been at the same weight for a month. I'm happy with that. I'm also still enjoying the 24 hour fasts because of the clear mindedness I get during them.

How about you?

I've realised I really need to buy some new clothes. I've dropped 2 dress sizes and have very little that still fits me. I live in jeans and t-shirts most of the time so I can get away with it, but it isn't really flattering my new shape.

So what basics do I need? Its been a while since I have updated my wardrobe so I need help. I'm going to post this on style too (gulp - don't normally go near that part of MN, I hope they are kind).

franchfancy well done thats amazing, glad you had a lovely evening :)

prettymaids thanks for tips, cant believe you have been shreding for so long! What are calf raisers btw?

Ouch welshmill walking dog is good excersise though.

well done betsy!

I have shreded today! Also put on zumba for the wii which i have had unopened for a year or so! very embarrasing but quite fun and the children loved it (my youngest is unimpressed by lack of attention though) I did the easiest work out and app burned 189 cals! I would say avoid if your worried about injuries but it didn't hurt my knees so thats good. I def couldnt do a zumba class though/

GiraffesEatPineapples · 16/02/2013 15:13

Skinny jeans french fancy?! Have fun experimenting Grin

AmericasTorturedBrow · 16/02/2013 15:44

frenchfancy it must feel amazing to write that post, well done! Def skinny jeans, and those oversize jumpers that only look good if you're slim. I have a wish list in my head which includes a proper bodycon dress once I hit the shape the I want

Oh I'm a terrible Jillian replacement for Laska, I blame the 8 hour time difference, sounds like most people don't need the extra kicking to be motivated to Shred! I did a hardcore power yoga workout last night and am going to Shred when DD naps, it's impossible with her around

Fasting today, we're going to a friends for taco dinner though that's mainly for the children so I'll just have to decline.

GiraffesEatPineapples · 16/02/2013 17:00

Just chuck some pom bears around ATB [ bear ] (without spaces) I am still not using weights ... need a kick for that!

Defo hard to excersise with littlies, my older 2 love it and try to do crunches but my youngest tries to cuddle me...

Have eaten all my cals today fingers crossed I can stick to herbal tea and have a good no eating fast if sat night doesn't get in the way

frenchfancy · 16/02/2013 17:29

I'm shredded. The second half is getting easier, but the first half still kills me.

Pizza tonight, and according to MFP I still have 1866 cals to play with today So that will be Wine with the pizza and chocolate after Grin (I only normally have 2 squares of lindt caramel and sea salt which is only just over 100 cals)

Prettymaidsallinarow · 16/02/2013 18:22

giraffes, calf raises are basically where you stand on your tip toes and give your calf muscles a gentle stretch. I recommended it as some shredders were saying their calves were sore, it's a gentle stretch you can add in when you are doing your arm crosses etc Wink yes def get some weights, you will burn more fat. Get some of the ones that you can increase if you can, or those that come in three sets.

I did level two today which I think I some respects is a little harder than level three. Don't be scared though, it's not much harder than level one, it's just a little different. I sometimes do a 50 odd minute workout and do both level 1 followed by level 2 or level 2 followed by 3 but I've been doing shred and other exercise for ages.
I have loads of advice if you need it when you get there Smile

french, what a dilemma, NOT Grin How fantastic for you. How much have you lost remind me?

Snowkey · 16/02/2013 18:28

I have never had only 2 squares of sea salt Green & Blacks, it's just too nice Blush

french in all seriousness hit the charity shops Grin I have some fab skinny jeans (2pairs) for £3 a pair and a great new jacket for £7. East have an online sale ATM with some stuff at 70% off .... I'm being brave (because it's cheap) and buying styles that are a bit daring for me and in pattern too, not the usual solid colours black. If I don't feel comfortable in them - they can go back to the charity shop. I feel I need to learn a new way of dressing now too but am trying not to make expensive mistakes.

catsrus · 16/02/2013 19:25

literarygeek some dangerous links you posted there Grin love the blazer!

Aftereightsarenolongermine · 16/02/2013 19:51

I love the phase 8 dress. I may have to go & buy it.

Skinnyeye · 16/02/2013 20:38

Back home dried out and defrosted Grin promised dry day failed to materialise and cycled 23.5 miles up Loch Lomond side and back in horizontal rain. Missed the train home so had to go for a few beers to wait until the next one

Breadandwine · 16/02/2013 22:14

Oh, Skinnyeye, what a bummer!

As a former cyclist myself I was thinking of you today - the weather has been glorious here in the SW.

Still, hope the beer made up for it! Smile

AmericasTorturedBrow · 16/02/2013 22:37

Well done though skinnyeye, I have a 50mile ride to Malibu and back tomorrow - which I CAN'T get out of because I have totally failed my fast today. It's only 2:30 and I've eaten 6 rich tea biscuits, 2 bourbon biscuits and a big bar of dairy milk. The sooner the British treats are gone from our house the better...

frenchfancy · 17/02/2013 07:01

Thank you LG that is exactly the kind of help I need. Those jeans are nice and that dress is gorgeous (but unfortunately it is in the sales and they only have a size 20 Angry )

I am an hourglass shape, currently 37",29",37". This tend to put me top heavy in most clothes so I'm now a 10-12 in bottoms but a 12-14 in tops.

Did you see that size 10! I haven't seen one of those since I got married 19 years ago :)

BetsyVanBell · 17/02/2013 10:22

FF exciting! Just try on masses of stuff and see where your fancy takes you!

No Shred for me today - have just done an hour of Yoga to stretch out all those muscles Jillian's pounded! Having been to lots of different types of yoga classes in the past, and not having found one at the time or locality I prefer (plus being on a tight budget) I'm now using Tara Lee's Element's of Yoga dvd - it's quite dynamic between poses so if you're not used to it it's quite a work out and definitely helps with core strengthening.

50 mile bike ride!! Jeepers ATB - how long does that take?

frenchfancy · 17/02/2013 11:38

I'd love to try on loads. Unfortunately the shops here are fairly rubbish so I'm going to take advantage of my trip to the UK next week to shop in the west end - with all three DDs in tow. So lots of trying on may not be possible.

I do need one dress for the party I'm going to so I thought I might order a couple to be at my friends house when we arrive so I can take them back if they are no good. What do you think of these?

I'm 41, I don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb but I don't want to look like my mother either.

Prettymaidsallinarow · 17/02/2013 11:49

french the first three are particularly gorgeous Smile

BetsyVanBell · 17/02/2013 12:48

FF Those wrap style dresses/tops will look stunning with your hourglass shape - as long as you don't mind a lot of attention, especially on the boobs!

BetsyVanBell · 17/02/2013 12:51

FF another thought - ebay is a good place to get stuff cheaply - so less of a commitment if you're not sure, and you can always sell it again if you change your mind! While my shape is changing I'm buying inexpensively for the interim sizes [HopeI'mNotBeingTooOptimisitcFace]

Bordercollielover · 17/02/2013 13:14

Interesting blog in Scientific American from August 2012 called The Hidden Truth About Calories. There is nothing in it to affect what we are doing but adds some interesting knowledge.
Does anyone know how to insert a link on here when using an iPad?

Bordercollielover · 17/02/2013 13:20

After8s how are you feeling after your recent surgery? I am finding recovery etc much better at my current lower weight than last operation.

Prettymaidsallinarow · 17/02/2013 13:34

french all gorgeous, love the tops and. Particularly like the sleeves on the black dressSmile
