I F - 5:2 - 4:3 - Maintaining the healthy weight

This thread is for those who have been doing IF for quite a while and are now at or nearing their target healthy weight.

How do we experience fasts and balance a stable food intake while having little or no weight to lose?

How to we ensure that this WOE does keep us at the healthy weight long term rather than revert to yoyo games?

I have now been at the same weight for a month. I'm happy with that. I'm also still enjoying the 24 hour fasts because of the clear mindedness I get during them.

How about you?

So many NSV! Well done everyone - especially frenchfancy going from too tight trousers to two extra holes on the belt, fab!

mumof I had a similar experience this morning - last night DH was all enthusiastic about us shredding in the morning, so I got up with DC at 6, woke DH at 7, Shred on by 7:15...cue all 4 of us in various engagements of "exercise" in the living room! DD clambered none during crunches again but we figure it's quite a good example to set to them. DS had so much fun doing star jumps he askedus to play it again when we finished!

I haven't measured either, I don't own a tape measure! But weirdly lost 3lbs over the course of yesterday's fast (having put on 1lb during fast the day before)

virginposter · 14/02/2013 16:10

Well I will miss TiP, she was a great contributor to these mumsnet threads and always made good sense. Hope she will feel at home on the fast forum (and at least she will have some of you guys to chat with over there) Smile

BetsyVanBell · 14/02/2013 16:13

Ding ding! Shredded [sweatemoticon]. I did a minute of downward dog stretch afterwards too as my calves get knotted up quite easily. My weights felt a bit heavy but I got through it and my arms definitely need the work. may have trouble pouring tea from the pot this afternoon.

Laska42 · 14/02/2013 17:13

Shredded! ouch muscles are sore after 4 days of it and I too am finding push ups hard, I'm only doing the easy ones and they are hard enough.. ..also today I didn't think id make it through the second lot of cardio I did! I will try and get up early tomorrow so I can do it again before I hit the road in the morning for my weekend away that means I will only miss one day which is good because I think if I miss any more ill be back to square one on the muscle pain front, but one day off I hope will be fine..)

someone volunteer to be Evil Jillian until Monday?

Laska42 · 14/02/2013 17:15

ATB great that your DH is keen to do it (as well as the kids) does he fast too? .. Mine would just laugh.. luckily he works away all week, so ill only have to brave it at weekends !

frenchfancy · 14/02/2013 17:57

Shredded. Not sure it is getting easier TBH, I almost gave up but worked through it. I think the calf pain might come for the jump rope, that is certainly where they were hurting today.

WI tomorrow - fingers crossed.

Aftereightsarenolongermine · 14/02/2013 18:01

Great re all the NSV. Shame about tip.

Ok I really regret not measuring my waist before I started, would anyone know if I can work it out retrospectively? I'm now a 37inch but size 12 m&s which says 29. I was when I started size 18 m&s which says 35. I'm confused.......

Laska42 · 14/02/2013 18:17

aftereights do you still have top or dress ( or trousers even )that were snug at your natural waist when you started? if so measure that! .I dont think waist sizes on lables are that helpful tbh

AmericasTorturedBrow · 14/02/2013 18:28

Don't the waist on some trousers actually mean hips as jeans etc are often work lower than the waist?

me me ill be Jillian for the weekend felt good doing Shred today so I'm gonna lead the pack til Laska returns - but then you are totally back in charge. I'm also doing a 50mile training ride Sunday so I will be HARDCORE

I miss TiP

I actually for the first time found the easy press ups ok....DH really struggled though today

He doesn't fast, but he's tall and skinny and rarely eats before about 11am most days anyway, he's getting a bit of a tummy and slight love handles so wants to tone up I think

Bordercollielover · 14/02/2013 19:13

I did indeed get the gist and wouldn't say no to the gin anyway! Thankyou all for encouragement. I will probably be off work for about 10 weeks, my aim is to keep up the 4:3 and perhaps lose another stone in that time, that will shock them all!
I find the old thread too big now and the Fast Diet one somehow too public so I will just look in on this one and hope that if there is new scientific evidence someone on here will link to it. For the rest I think I know what I am doing now though I shall have to tackle the exercise issue or I will be the only flabby one left of the original crew!! I am enjoying the upper body exercise of the wheelchair for now and am thinking of a rowing boat for the summer...........
Presumably our lost member will reappear in another guise? We would only need a few clues to recognise her!!

Bordercollielover · 14/02/2013 19:17

Oops I was replying to Laska but took so long to do it that a whole page has appeared since so makes no sense at all.

AmericasTorturedBrow · 14/02/2013 21:08

Good plan BCL, do you have another stone to loose anyway?

Breadandwine · 14/02/2013 21:50

Laska this thread on the FD forum could do with some input from you:

www.52fastdiet.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1074&view=unread#unread

Have a look and see what you think.

Laska42 · 14/02/2013 22:22

Heads up Shredders!! .. we are about to have a new recruit to this thread who has been doing it for about 18 months!! .. Quick !! Pretend we know what we are doing ! Wink (she'll be here soon!)

oh hello prettymaids .... Smile

Laska42 · 14/02/2013 22:25

thanks B&W will have to be next week now.. have Pm'd you re possibly needing to do the other thread over the weekend when greeneggs (and I'm) away

GiraffesEatPineapples · 14/02/2013 22:28

(pokes head in, checks Evil Jillian isn't around) I didn't excersise today. Feel really bad about it actually which is weird!

What about slendertone BCL or one of those weird vibrating machines they sell on ideal world?

Americas well done, I am loving the family that shreds together ethos! 50 mile training blimey Shock

Aftereightsarenolongermine · 14/02/2013 22:29

Hasn't thought of that laska will certainly have a go at measuring tomorrow. Have a great time when you are away.

Skinnyeye · 14/02/2013 22:31

Hi Losers,
Room for a littler un here? I'm not quite at maintenance levels yet mostly because I have lowered the target. I can't keep up with the other thread and miss you guys Sad

Marking my place and have some back reading to do

GiraffesEatPineapples · 14/02/2013 22:34

Hi Skinnyeye I am nowhere near target...Its not very safe here we have been infected with 30dayshred

Laska42 · 14/02/2013 22:37

I can see you giraffes you get the Bear.. Evil Jillian

Grin
Skinnyeye · 14/02/2013 22:39

Oh dear I missed the start lol!! I'm doing C25K week 4 at the moment and running a 10K in May. May get around to shred one day and as I live in a flat I'm sure my downstairs neighbour will really appreciate that.

GiraffesEatPineapples · 14/02/2013 22:43

runs and hides - not the Bear

Breadandwine · 14/02/2013 23:27

Have responded, Laska

NatashaMousse · 15/02/2013 00:24

All this Shred talk has got me curious. Although I'm happy with my exercise regimen and may well stick with it, I think I'll have to borrow the Shred video and check it out.

Everything I've heard (and experienced) about intense workouts, as Shred appears to be, suggests that they should not be done every day, because the muscles need time for repair, as I think someone above mentioned. Seems to me that 3 days a week of Shred, alternating with days of a stretching routine, and maybe one day a week off would be the way to go.

AmericasTorturedBrow · 15/02/2013 02:48

That's interesting Natasha and thank god in that case. Think I'll just listen to my body and do what it tells me...

Welcome skinnyeye! No, it's not safe at all, but easier to keep up - what's your new target? I think these a few of us cheating and posting on this thread despite not yet maintaining
