Week 4 - New Year Bootcamp - Where We Really Get Going

BIWI · 28/01/2013 08:55

Morning all!

Quick post from me as I have to go to work. Damn that RL!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Remember that in this week, it is still likely that you may see very little or even no loss. This is entirely normal and will happen no matter how well you have been following Bootcamp rules

It sounds, though, like some of you are eager to report losses anyway, so that's brilliant!

However, there's been a lot of falling off the wagon recently, so can I suggest that we really get focused in this week and make sure that we don't allow the carbs to creep back into the diet? From here on, we're only really going to see losses of around 1-2lbs a week, so let's not sabotage things.

BIWI.

I have lost the grand total of 3lbs which was lost in the first week and nothing since. I have failed to master adding weight to spreadsheet so have fallen off.

The app does tell me total amounts but not in %. I will list full meals later when DC are in bed. Yesterday I had 20.5g of carb (this is net carb of fiber). I had 334g of fat (that is a lot when you think about it). And 102g of protein.

As you can see the majority of cals and energy comes from fat.

BIWI. I only looked at the calorie section by accident as I was trying to work out why no loss. And worked through where all this was actually coming from.

I may get somewhere if I ditch the coconut oil from my herbal tea. This wouldn't impact my hunger really as I will still eat the same and still eat lots of fat and use coconut oil as a dressing and to cook with.

BIWI · 30/01/2013 18:00

Don't worry about the fat. You really don't need to!

How much weight do you need/want to lose?

OP posts:
skandi1 · 30/01/2013 18:02

Sorry. You asked how much I have to lose. That is roughly 35lbs. From 185lbs to 150lbs. So quite a lot. If it helps you I am 5'11" of slim build and 150lbs is roughly my pre DC weight and all my weight is around my middle (my shameful measurements are 39in-37"-42.5" - oh the shame I look 8 months pregnant).

BIWI · 30/01/2013 18:10

Right. At that height/weight your BMI is 26. So you are only 2 points/10lbs away from 'desirable'. This is likely to mean that your weight loss will be much slower than someone who is considerably overweight.

I think you need to stop panicking about it, enjoy the food you are eating, murder your DH and get your DS to sleep through the night!!!

Lavenderhoney · 30/01/2013 18:21

Hello everyone:) this thread moves fast doesn't it? Been busy with dd who is poorly but getting better now.

Ruprekt that's amazing:)

Skandi- I feel for you, my ds was a real non sleeper too. And the up and playing thing. He did get better and I have to say it was because he was overtired. Our routine is quiet afternoon with lots of running round til about 4 then very slow and steady with a big meal and pudding then reading and bed. If I do anything else he gets overtired and it's disastrous! I think you are going to have to ensure he's not in pain or anything, then check him and tell him it's sleep time. I leave a night light on.
I have a friend who had a terrible sleeper- she ended up driving round in the night in an attempt to get him off. She was given a book which I have in PDF if you pm me. It took 2-3 nights to get him to sleep through. She did it when her dh was away though. He was 18 months as well. She looked about 10 years younger after:)

Food - am eating much better however I too am a bit poorly so working through it. Still hardcore bootcamp here, but it's not exactly miserable is it? I love this woe:)

Ruprekt · 30/01/2013 18:33

I have also come to the conclusion that I do reward with food. Well done boys. HAve a muffin, packet of sweets, piece of chocolate. That needs to change.

I am really pleased though that DH has been away for the last 3 nights and I usually comfort eat through boredom. However, i have planned properly and eaten properly. Tonight the boys will go upstairs at 7pm then I can eat in peace and enjoy my food. Will post food later.

Ruprekt · 30/01/2013 18:34

And the butter I get was recommended here. It has salt crystals in it and is delicious.

mumat39 · 30/01/2013 19:02

Skandi, hi again.

I'd love to be 5'11"". That's a good height IMO.

I can look about 6-7 months pregnant, or bigger if I don't hold myself properly. I sometimes catch site of myself if I'm in a clothes shop and think OMG! Or at home if I'm carrying one of the kids, I seem to let myself relax, so they have something comfortable to lean on.

I've had 2 c-sections and I have a pouch but I can actually relax my stomach enough without really trying, to look like I'm about to pop. Since having kids my posture is really bad and once I lose a bit of weight, and feel comfortable in a swimming costume, I might start to go swimming.

I can't wear those body control pants but have jeans that sort of hold my stomach in a bit. They are high waisted but I still have to be careful with the bulging tyre at my waist.

The other thing is if I wear tops that hang from my huge boobs, they also make me look pregnant. I am not very good at dressing myself, so this is an everyday thin for me.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you. It probably is no help but feel your pain.

Xxx

ShebaQueen · 30/01/2013 19:17

Hello everyone, struggled today when there were cakes in the office, but managed to resist and didn't actually have any. Well done to everyone who has lost in the mid-week weigh in.

Off to sort DS2 out with his homework.

skandi1 · 30/01/2013 19:28

Hi Mumat.

Snap! Veteran of 2 x cs too.
It's hard to say what's cs overhang and what's fat tum for me just now.

I can't wear jeans or trousers particularly high waisted. I need several sizes up from the rest of me iyswim. I wear leggings and tunic type tops and I know it does me no favours. It looks like maternity garb.

Tis depressing. I need to tackle the fat tum. It's getting to me.

I did well on Dukan last year and lost all but the last 1 stone on weight. However we had whole house renovated during the summer (new kitchen and two new bathrooms plus cloak room etc etc). I designed the kitchen and bathroom layouts and ordered all materials and fittings etc and project managed the lot whilst looking after DC.
At the same time DH went for a new job and became MD of a major UK plc so suddenly home late every night and lots of travel etc plus working from home. And under pressure.
And just before he started he needed minor surgery so it was 2 months before he could lift the DC.

During this time I simply ate biscuits and chocolate. And I am not talking about a couple of biscuits I am talking about 3 packets of Waitrose/bhalzen luxury mega carb sugar biscuits (all organic though darling Wink).

So I undid a lot of work.

Also to clarify. During pregnancy I put on masses of weight and went from 150lbs ish (68kg) to almost 100kg (not sure in lbs but that's a lot). DS is now 18 months and I want rid of it.

I am pissed of at myself for wrecking it and gaining back a stone and a half! If I had even just maintained then I would only have a few lbs to lose now instead of the 35lbs which lay ahead of me. Grrrr.

And I used the hectic household and the increased loneliness as carte Blanche to scoff tons of biscuits.

It has set a really bad example for DD because during that time she would get choc biscuits every day too. And I now realise despite my home cooked organic meals for the DC, she now asks for biscuits constantly (ok she is 3 which doesn't help).

There we are. Biscuits are not the answer. Wink

BIWI · 30/01/2013 19:35

That could be the title for a low carb book!

Lavenderhoney · 30/01/2013 19:43

Skandi., I have the dreaded c s overhang from 2 cs. It's not pretty. I was looking at photos of me and dh earlier before dc and ds said who is that lady with daddy? I said it was me and very kindly he patted my arm and said " I don't think so, mummy" I must say I enormous and a hippo would be jealous.

Your weight will drop though. Can you only drink water by day and nothing else? That made a big difference for me. Plus callanetics, which you can do as you go.

B - 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs and mushrooms

L - Too full from breakfast

D - Was yum. 3 mini lamb burgers, roasted celeriac and broccoli fried in anchovies and garlic.
Am stuffed but will have FF yog and 25g blueberries later.

WillieWaggledagger · 30/01/2013 20:21

mumat39 the spreadsheet measures decimals for fractions of pounds. i don't know about your scales, but mine seem to measure decimals (i have never seen them go above .9 of a lb, and there are 16oz in a lb). it's up to you what you want to put in the spreadsheet depending on your scales, but tbh i round to the nearest half lb anyway!

Ruprekt · 30/01/2013 20:34

Doh!

14lb in a stone

16oz in a pound!

There is a reason why I am crap at Maths!!

pyjamalover · 30/01/2013 21:00

Evening! Can't keep up with this thread!

Condolences frou frou.

Exhausted today (not as exhausted as skandi clearly!) so about to go to bed. Definitely overeat when I'm tired.

Best thing about this woe, such yum meals! Find myself looking forward to my packed lunch at work. Had tricolore salad yesterday, so simple but sooo good.

Goodnight

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 30/01/2013 21:17

Am now worrying after Skandis posts that I too am eating too much fat (although I've lost a good half stone) - definitely think I went out of ketosis at weekend due to wine, too much sugar in the sushi dressings and DH's homegrown beetroot so although have been sticking to WOE, if one is out of ketosis presumably it just stores as fat again?

Whoever posting about dying though consuming pork bellies inspired me to try cooking it tonight, but I've never done it before (got the slices) and it was a bit dry. How do you do yours, if you do slices?

Today's meals:

  • B: Scrambled egg and smoked salmon and mushrooms (spinach would've been better, the mushrooms didn't really go with the salmon)
  • S: babble, olives with feta (couldn't have lunch until 2pm due to meeting)
  • L: a bit less because of the snack - avocado vinagraite, pate with celery
  • S: more olives while prepping DC dinner (cooked loads of frankfurters hoping for a sneaky snack on them but the little blighters hoovered them all up)
  • D: pork belly slices with roast celeriac and buttered kale
ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 30/01/2013 21:20

Damn autocorrect. Babybel for my snack, not babble!

BIWI · 30/01/2013 21:27

Please don't worry about eating too much fat. It's not an issue on this WOE. Far better to knock the wine and sugar on the head!

Evening losers

Am slinking in to say one thing: if I have one dietary nemesis/Achilles heel, I think it would have to be Reece's Peanut Butter Cups.

Oh, how do I love thee, Reece's Peanut Butter Cups? Let me count the ways.....

NoveltySlippers · 30/01/2013 21:31

Just wishful thinking BIWI.....honest!!!!

I mean - when did they start selling these in the UK anyway? They weren't around when I was a kid. Damn these seductive American imports.
