Sorry to be a bit late this morning - no doubt you're all chomping at the bit to declare all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Could you whip up some cream? Dull I know, but I've done it at times of extreme desperation and it feels a bit like 'pudding'

sybilfaulty · 14/01/2013 20:43

Just adding myself to the thread. Back later for a proper catch up.

Ilovemyteddy · 14/01/2013 20:47

Sugar is the real enemy, not fat. Google Robert Lustig. BIWI posted a link to his video about obesity and he firmly believes, and has scientific evidence to back up his beliefs that sugar is evil and the cause of the obesity epidemic. He had a book out called Fat Chance. But it's all about sugar, not fat.

Eating natural fat makes you lose fat. It's a fact borne out by those of us who are low-carbing, whether we have been doing it for a week, or a year, like me. I am one of those fortunate people who's weight-loss has not been stalled by eating copious amounts of cheese. I don't drink though Grin

I bought a size 10 top today. Yay! It's a year today since I started this WOE. I'm a shade over 5 stones lighter than I was a year ago. I have done this by eating butter, cheese, eggs, mayo and some fatty meat ( although I have to confess to not liking the fat on meat.). I have done this by not eating anything sugary (apart from dark chocolate!). I've eaten industrial quantities of nuts. But no sugar.

I haven't done a lot of exercise although I have a very physical job which involves a lot of walking, stairs, bending, stretching, lifting and carrying.

Fat is good. Sugar is bad. It's as simple as that really.

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/01/2013 20:47

Oi you lot, you've got the Monday night blues. DO NOT GIVE IN TO THEM

Keep drinking the water, have something low carb, brush your teeth, have a peppermint tea or go to bed! You can do it, you'll feel better for it tomorrow. You do not need anything sweet, your body is tricking to trick you!

Yama · 14/01/2013 20:48

Well, I am now snuggled up in my slanket and awaiting Lewis. The yoghurt did the trick. Smile

Yama · 14/01/2013 20:52

Oh, and thanks for the pep talk ILove and MrsHP. It really does help and is appreciated.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 14/01/2013 20:52

Yogurt didn't do it for me Sad
Will a cuppa with a sweetener in it ruin everything?

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 14/01/2013 20:56

bullet i still have two cups of tea a day with two sweetners in each.

Didn't mess things up last week, lost 3lb.

mawbroon · 14/01/2013 20:56

Can somebody give me an idiots guide to the celeriac chips? I tried deep frying some and they were minging and soggy Sad

JustasmallGless · 14/01/2013 20:57

You need to break those sugar cravings
It's mind over matter -DON'T DO IT

Have a cuppa without sugar, or a peppermint tea instead

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 14/01/2013 20:58

Oh and bullet if it's sweet you need Hartleys no sugar added Strawberry Jelly in 0.4g of carbs, just sayin Grin

barleywood · 14/01/2013 20:59

Thanks for the encouragement re fat. Been eating like this for six months and lost around 20lbs.

Tonight feeling a little queasy....perhaps I have overdone the butter and cream.

Not really missing the sugar too much and definitely not as hungry.

JustasmallGless · 14/01/2013 20:59

Shock Hokey

If you understand the science behing low carbing and why sweeteners can stall you, it may help

Whip up some cream
And have a dusting of cocoa powder. Far better for you

Ilovemyteddy · 14/01/2013 21:02

Sweeteners won't necessarily stall you but we are trying to break habits here so do try and resist as hard as you can. People keep telling me that I must have a lot of willpower to have lost so much weight. But because LC-ing keeps you full it's easy to stick to. The willpower comes in resisting the craving for sugar.

You can do it!

Ilovemyteddy · 14/01/2013 21:03

20lbs is brilliant! Thanks

bulletwithbutterflywings · 14/01/2013 21:05

Right. I am going to have a green tea. Thank you for the encouragement, I do want to kick my sugar habit so I'm going to find a bit more willpower!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 14/01/2013 21:05

Sorry Gless

I have an exceptionally sweet tooth, i always have. I am also a massive carb eater.

This woe is so hard for me, but i see the benefit in my body and how i feel in myself and my weight so i do it and i don't cheat in any other way.

Every so often i just need something sweet and so i have a little pot of Jelly.

I'm so ashamed Grin

bulletwithbutterflywings · 14/01/2013 21:07

Oh yes, I'm definitely not hungry, just craving something hot and sweet! Loving the food and not snacking too much, I think it's just the snow that's making me fancy hot, sweet, builders TEA!

JustasmallGless · 14/01/2013 21:09

Jelly?
Jelly?

God BIWI'll bd getting the stick out!!

I would recommend reading as to why this WOE works
It has been a real lightbulb moment for me.
It explained my blood sugar dips, constantly grazing especially on fruit.
No more- I'm free!!

NellVarnish · 14/01/2013 21:09

I was desperate for some sort of pudding last night bullet and I resorted to a spoodful of crunchy peanut butter stirred into some Greek yoghurt if you fancy that? Was v. nice.

Despite losing I feel a bit meh tonight - maybe I've got the Monday night blues too ...

jan2013 · 14/01/2013 21:12

i used to drink hot choc every night before bed. you would think with so many people low carbing now they would come up with low carb versions of stuff like that so we have more options when we have a craving for something sweet. now its just a coffee and cream

bulletwithbutterflywings · 14/01/2013 21:20

I am trying not to have caffeine this week as well, just to see if it has any impact on my weight loss. If it does I will definitely have to invest in some decaf tea and coffee!
That sounds a bit wrong tbh Nell! I think the craving has passed now, talking about it helped!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 14/01/2013 21:22

I know, she'll be along soon and she'll have the caps lock on!!

Might be time for bed Wink

NellVarnish · 14/01/2013 21:33

Yes they should jan - that was the second time this week I've wanted something sweet, although with the amount of chocolate I normally put away, I'm surprised it wasn't more!

No it was lovely bullet, but no Green & Blacks or Galaxy that's for sure. Grin

Doshusallie · 14/01/2013 21:33

Tea was two salmon fillets roasted in the oven in foil with salt and pepper and butter, served with leeks and sprouts that I partly cooked in the microwave and then finished off by frying in butter and cream. Utterly divine.
