Sorry to be a bit late this morning - no doubt you're all chomping at the bit to declare all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Interestingly, when dh tried ds' carrot cake, he found it a bit tart, even acidic (probably due to ds not putting in enough sugar), yet I had found it very sweet Hmm

Maybe the fact that I haven't had even a sniff of sugar for nearly 8 days meant that I was extra sensitised! Grin

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 21:58

Do I need to wave my big stick around then?!

If you can get through these two weeks without giving into the sugar/sweet cravings then it will be much better for you - and it does get easier.

There are lots of sugar-free treats you can buy, including the jelly, but they are generally full of all manner of artificial ingredients WHICH WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE EATING!!! Grin

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 14/01/2013 22:02

I knew you'd bring out the caps Grin

Sorry!!

I promise to never mention jelly again!

prettybird · 14/01/2013 22:03

Miss, miss, please miss......I didn't give in to a sugar craving, I placated my 12 year old ds who had made lovely carrot cake at school and who wanted me to try it. I only had a tiny teaspoon!

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 22:08

You were lucky I didn't employ caps and bold ...

Hi all

As someone who buckled massively at the weekend and gave in to my insane sugar cravings, maybe I can, ahem, help.

Obviously, I've been sitting in the penance corner all day and been wondering how it is that I fell off the wagon so spectacularly. (For those who missed my post, the words caramel cheesecake; Cadbury's creme egg; Green and Blacks; Burger King; Doritos, and YES - in an almost devil may care way - KRISPY KREME all featured at some point in my weekend.

(Okay - I was very sad at the weekend too, but still....)

So I thought - today I have to read something to make me understand it. I remember BIWI posting about Robert Lustig, and I found this: Sugar - a sweet addiction

Apologies if you've seen it already. But it's really helped me today. It takes away so much power from those cravings. Hope it helps those struggling today.

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 22:13

How are you feeling today, Novelty?

Firsttimepig · 14/01/2013 22:14

Just back from a 45 min spinning class was hard work but felt good for going. I am hoping three of these a week will get those numbers up.
For all the jelly talk I am following ipd so neris and India do allow sf jelly and nuts in week 3 which I am in now. After the spinning jelly is a nice reward !

NoveltySlippers · 14/01/2013 22:17

Much better today, thanks BIWI. Thanks

Had a slightly difficult meeting at work, where someone's going on maternity leave and the boss remarked on 'what a fertile group we must be'. I may have almost shed a tear... But it was residual sadness from the weekend.

Am feeling stronger today, and much happier that I'm not stuffing my face. (Which is a million times better for the fertility I'm trying to preserve too!)

PrincessSparkle86 · 14/01/2013 22:24

I think i need a pep talk.... Still stewing over the 1lb loss Hmmits a pain!

PrincessSparkle86 · 14/01/2013 22:25

Novelty- glad your feeling better today Smile

AuntieMaggie · 14/01/2013 22:25

OMG all this talk of forbidden food

I haven't got a particularly sweet tooth, but this woe really makes a lot of things too sweet for me especially unnatural sweetness. I usually have a teaspoon of sweetener in my one cup of tea per day and I've continued to have sweetener in my tea but over the past week it has reduced to the tiniest amount as anything more is far too sweet. (sorry BIWI)

I haven't been hungry all day but after zumba tonight I am starving!

NoveltySlippers · 14/01/2013 22:28

Thanks Princess Smile

JessicaWakefield · 14/01/2013 22:29

Novelty it was just a minor aberration. And very well done for getting back on the wagon and for looking into why it happened. Robert Lustig is great isn't he? Thanks for the link and Thanks for you after what sounds like a difficult weekend.

prettybird · 14/01/2013 22:30

Finally worked out what ipd means Blush and what's more I have the book and used it successfully a few years ago Blush. I even adapted a recipe from the book last week! Blush

JessicaWakefield · 14/01/2013 22:30

Congratulations Clare8 brilliant news!

Teddy your pictures are just amazing! You're such an inspiration to us!

NoveltySlippers · 14/01/2013 22:32

Thank you Jessica Smile

NoveltySlippers · 14/01/2013 22:34

Yes, congrats Clare8 too!

(Just had to read up thread....this thread is sooo fast)

EwanHoozami · 14/01/2013 22:35

Prettybird it's interesting how your taste buds change isn't it. I thoughtlessly had a swig of regular whole milk (straight out of the carton, pure class) and it tasted incredibly sweet.

SavoirFaire · 14/01/2013 22:36

mawbroon I used this for celeriac chips and it worked perfectly. I cut them quite chunky.

I posted quickly early about loss - 5.5 lbs. DH has also lost 5 or 6lbs (he isn't sure but is very happy as his jeans are no longer tight. Annoyingly, my jeans don't really feel any looser. Or may I have forgotten quite how tight they were.

Slatternly your post about posting at work made me laugh. Unfortunately my computer screen faces the entire office which is a bit of a bummer.

Today I have eaten:
B: 2 eggs, butter
L: ham, avocado, cucumber and goats cheese, and a babybel Blush
S: cucumber and goats cheese
D: casserole and celeriac chips which was utterly utterly scrummy. Best meal yet by a mile. Will be doing again, lots!

I did give in to a craving this evening as was p'd off about having to do a bunch of work this evening. 3 or maybe 4 teaspoons of sugar free peanut butter. I am very sorry BIWI. It's better than 3 pieces of toast with peanut butter on, which is what I'd probably have had this time two weeks ago.

Great losses losers. The shared experience is making this all possible. Thanks!

SavoirFaire · 14/01/2013 22:37

And congratulations clare8!!

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 14/01/2013 22:38

Just noticed that my spreadsheet entry has been amended, thank you very much. Am so happy when I see the figures written down as I know it's worth any little inconvenience.

Have been reading up on Michael Moseley and am quite interested in trying the 5:2 intermittent fasting thing. Just wondering if anyone else does this with low carbing and how it works if anyone has any advice to offer. I thought I could maybe have two cheese free days a week as I eat so much and if that would help.

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 22:38

I don't think that's too bad, Savoir! You could have done a lot worse than that.

Today I ate some chocolate, half a terry's chocolate orange.
I won't dwell on it, i know why i did it.

Starting fresh again tomorrow.

Dinner was steak, blue cheese sauce, cauliflour and brocolli, garlic mushrooms.
