Sorry to be a bit late this morning - no doubt you're all chomping at the bit to declare all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

My celeriac chips crisped up. I tossed them in some oil and seasoning and spread them out on 2 baking sheets, then in to the oven. The oven must be at least 200 degrees and the chips need to be spaced out, not all piled on top of each other.

For the braised cabbage, you need to be careful how you cut the segments. Try to make sure it is through the middle of the stem, then the outside leaves don't come off.

We have had braised cabbage a few times but decided we prefer the recipe with Brussels sprouts, it's much tastier.

NoveltySlippers · 16/01/2013 12:05

Oooh, thanks Bessie and Willie - that's a good tip. I hadn't done that (make sure root attached - doh!).

Yes - these bloggers must spend hours making their food pics 'just so'!

WillieWaggledagger · 16/01/2013 12:06

by root i meant stem - thanks bessie! - but you knew what i was talking about!

NoveltySlippers · 16/01/2013 12:06

Oops, yes! Smile

Ilovemyteddy · 16/01/2013 12:12

I eat yoghurt for brekkie most days - a125g pot of Alpro soya yog because normal yoghurt makes me barf. But I always eat something else - cheese, ham or cold Black Farmers sausages. I never get hungry until lunchtime, and often go for a swim before going to work, if I can get my lazy arse out of bed!

Went to Boots to,get some vitamin D tables after a convo on the 'Questions' thread, and got so excited about the Boots 75% off sale that I forgot to get the vitamin D. I have, however, done most of my Christmas shopping for this year Grin

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 16/01/2013 12:18

Mmmmmmm Crispy Seaweed. That is all.

NoveltySlippers · 16/01/2013 12:21

Hmm, will try it with sprouts. I love that this WOE is forcing me to be more adventurous with my cooking. I'm one of those people who has bought tons of cookery books over the years, but rarely gets round to ever actually using them.

So will be very, very happy if this WOE not only gets me thinner/healthier, but makes me a better cook too!

PrincessSparkle86 · 16/01/2013 12:22

BigS Grin Im pretty sure Im eating well enough, Im aiming for fat, carbs and protein with each meal, of course the carbs coming from salad and veg on the allowed list. Im trying my best to eat even if I dont feel like it and Im drinking enough water.

I am having more like 3 coffees a day though, rather than 2 and I wonder if I am ballsing up on the protein front? - I REALLY cant eat steak or big hunks of chicken breast etc I really cant stomach it, its grim. I usually have eggs for breakfast, salad and tuna mayo/prawns whatever for lunch, and dinner tends to vary more - sometimes I'll make a low carb spag bol/chilli/etc and have salad or veg or cauli rice with that.

Im not having sugar, sweeteners, anything I shouldnt and Im walking for about 60 mins each day on the school run. I'll walk even more when the weather warms up because I always do Smile

Any ideas?

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 16/01/2013 12:50

Goodness cannot keep up with this thread at all - keeps moving so fast.

Off to catch up, but in the meantime just wanted to say thanks all for the inspiration, tips and motivation - you are really helping me stick with it.

WillieWaggledagger · 16/01/2013 12:50

guy your food sounds great, and i wouldn't worry too much about getting lots of protein - it's the fat you need to concentrate on really

(in fact you can have too much protein, as the body can metabolise it in a way that increased your blood sugar via gluconeogenesis - less efficient I think than with carbs, but could still provoke an insulin reaction. don't worry about this too much, but it can be something to think about if you feel your WOE needs tweaking a bit once it's established)

GuyMartinsSideburns · 16/01/2013 13:04

Thank you Willie, maybe then I'll just keep on with what Im doing and if I dont see a change in a week or so perhaps then I may need to look into tweaking it.

DorisIsWaiting · 16/01/2013 13:15

Just a quick one to say in my first week I've lost 7 lbs Grin Grin. I was a couple of days late starting so my weigh day is wednesday.

Thank you for all the food ideas keep them coming- I tried the aubergine, feta and garlic someone linked to pages (last thread) ago. It was ok ish but I think the aubergine was still slightly undercooked. Not my best meal!

I have lost most of my hunger snacking which is superb, and a dress I ordered last week in a 16 (normally 16/18) fits (the wedding I'm going to is in 4 weeks so hopefully it will be baggy by then!).

Need to go and raid the receipe thread for ideas for tonights meal now.

slatternlymother · 16/01/2013 13:15

THAT was an epic workout. I sweated so violently, that several people have expressed their concern for my general health on the way back to my office

BigStickBIWI · 16/01/2013 13:19

Guy - you say you can't get below 9 stone - maybe you aren't supposed to be lighter than this! How tall are you?

slatternly that describes me as I leave every personal training session. Imagine my delight last week when I met an old friend, just about to start her class, who is one of those always immaculately turned out people!

Anaisa as others have said I think BF and keeping up the supply is more down to eating enough food, LC or otherwise and lots of water. I started this woe when I was exclusively BF DS who was about 3 months old at the time. I ate lots of real food and discovered drinking water - who knew!! I went from about a glass a day and mainlining espresso to 3 litres and I felt fantastic, milk supply a-ok and DS very bonnie indeed. So do give it a go if you can. Repeat after me - water and food!! Good luck! Smile

PrincessSparkle86 · 16/01/2013 13:21

Doris- thats fab well done Smile

Slatternly- great news on the sweating Wink haha!

Hello everybody.

It's way past my normal scheduled lunch time (usually 12ish) and I'm not feeling hungry at all. Is it wise for me to just carry on until I fancy a snack and go without my planned lunch? I feel like eating at this point would just make me feel gluttonous. I've eaten breakfast at 9 (bacon, boiled egg, rocket, mayo), drank about 1.5ltr of water so far and a large green tea...I'm not planning on working out today so instead I'm giving the house a pretty rigorous clean (hoovering every room, cleaning bath room, DS's room, kitchen floor by hand)...I just don't feel hungry AT ALL.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers.

BigStickBIWI · 16/01/2013 13:48

thatgirlsevil In Bootcamp, rule 1 applies! Eat three meals a day. It's important to do this, to ensure that you are keeping your blood sugar levels stable. From next week you can start to relax this.

coldethyl - that pastry won't have been great, but if you are strict today and drink plenty of water, it should be fine. However, if you are already gaining, you need to look at what you're eating/doing. And it looks like there is quite a bit of dairy in your menu, which could be an issue for you. There's also not much protein in your diet.
