Hi all :) yesterday was a good day food wise. Today some serious willpower is in order! I have a trial run at a new job, in a bakery Shock they make the best cakes in the world so i have be very strong. I'll check in later and catch up on the posts :)

captainmummy · 16/01/2013 08:24

Kitchenfairy - your spice mix/feta sounds yumm! Might nick that for lunch, with salad...

Starfish - hope the LO is ok today. Poor mite. And you, of course.

Amazed at the losses on here!

WillieWaggledagger · 16/01/2013 08:31

good morning, hope you're all doing ok

hope you and your ds are ok Starfish, and i'm so sorry to hear about your stresses missnje - look after yourselves both

slatternlymother · 16/01/2013 08:31

starfish hope you're feeling better this morning Smile

bullet wow. I would be like a starved animal in there. I'd probably just put some stuff in a bag and attatch it to my face whilst serving customers. Like a nose-bag, if you will. Although these horse-like habits are almost certainly what got me here in the first place

thekitchenfairy Good luck on your fat test! Gosh, that sounds awful, doesn't it?!

I've got two glorious days off tomorrow and Friday, in which to wallow in my own filth and generally be horrifically lazy Grin It's going to be fabulous.

DH has asked to take me out to lunch, and I'm going to try and pick the place and what I'm going to eat in advance, so I'm geared up. Would anyone mind helping me with some good choices if I post up the menus on here?

halfthesize · 16/01/2013 08:42

good luck bullet

WillieWaggledagger · 16/01/2013 08:47

gosh bullet that's tough, but fingers crossed it works in your favour in that you're so surrounded by baked stuff that you get sick of it

please do put up a menu slatternly, it's one of my favourite things to do!

PrincessSparkle86 · 16/01/2013 09:02

Mooorning,

Bullet-good luck in the bakery... Id take a peg for my nose so u cant smell the wonderfulness!

Slatternly- yes yes show us the menus :)

B- im not hungry and cant be bothered, had quite a long night last night..
L- italian chicken and salad
D- im thinking belly of pork with celeriac chips and im going to nick someone elses idea from yesterday and make a chilli salt for them Grin

littlermissstan · 16/01/2013 09:06

Ooh yes, I LOVE looking at menus, sad as it may be...
Good day yesterday, discovered the gorgeousness of cauliflower mashed up with butter and cream... Just had my yogurt, have smoked salmon salad for lunch and planning meatballs and courgette 'spaghetti' for dinner. Also managed spinning this morning, I don't know what's come over me!

Valdeeves · 16/01/2013 09:29

Half the Size - thanks for that! I hadn't thought of those. Any idea about something tasty I can do with chicken tonight and how do you make celeriac dauphinois pls? It sounds amazing!
Just having some eggs for breakfast - finished the pre school work run and taking my DD to a baby class. She was up from 3 - 4:30 last night and is giggling away this morning.
Really glad I'm on this diet - first time I've really given myself a big kick up the bum after two kids. My next task is to join the shredding but right now can't find the time?
Starfish - how's the little one and you this morning?

BigStickBIWI · 16/01/2013 09:43

Morning all!

Glad to hear so many tales of resisting the Bad Stuff! (Although suspect it's a good job I wasn't here with my big stick last night Grin)

Re the buffet - you need to avoid it looking like it's just a meat fest, as that really will provoke comments! Things to consider adding:

  • a big green salad with an oily (home-made) dressing
  • home-made coleslaw
  • mixed pepper salad (red/orange/yellow/green peppers, all sliced and pan-fried in olive oil until lightly charred, then dressed with extra oil and some wine vinegar, salt and black pepper
  • celeriac remoulade recipe here
  • devilled eggs (hard-boiled eggs; yolks scooped out and mashed with mayo and curry powder, touch of mango chutney if you feel like it, although obviously extra carbs, then re-fill the whites; garnish with a dusting of cayenne pepper)

Oh my, some lovely meal suggestions happening in here ...

DS has insisted on going back to school today after 3 days on antibiotics...to be fair, he does seem well enough. Anyway, I'm glad to have him out the house because the endless 'poorly snacks'; cheese on toast, chicken soup, hot chocolate, hot vimto et al were beginning to do me in a bit. Despite all that I've stuck to bootcamp (and DP has half a bottle of red wine last night whilst we were watching Argo, grrrr Envy)

Weighed myself this morning and I'm 129.6lbs...that's 9.4 lbs in 10 days Shock...I can definitely feel/see a difference around my middle but I'm waiting for my double chin to disappear. I have always been cursed with a round chubby face but it's got a lot worse this past couple of years and I tend to resemble Michael Winner in photographs even though I'm not terrible overweight elsewhere.

Anyway, today's menu...

B - 2 rashers bacon, 1 boiled egg, rocket, mayonnaise...all mixed up together in a bowl. Raspberry green tea. Mmm.

L - Kippers in butter with salad.

T - I'm attempting the thread famous celeriac chips (wish me luck!) with pork steaks and creamed cabbage or brocolli cheese.

BigStickBIWI · 16/01/2013 09:49

I should think sales of celeriac and cabbage are going through the roof at the moment!

Morning all Smile

Ive had eggs this morning though I cant say I enjoyed them... Im not sure about my lunch yet but I thought Id have a crack at a beef stew/casserole for dinner, think theres a recipe about on here somewhere isnt there?

Im doing good with drinking enough water so at least thats something!

I always seem to stick at 9st, always always always so I'll be interested to see if I do drop below this number by keeping super strict. If Im not seeing as drastic loss as others (though I know I didnt have a lot to lose in the first place) is it worth doing another bootcamp week or shall I move on to the next bit with the rest of you?

Have a great day all, keep warm! Im sat at my dining table with a coffee, a shitload of layers and a blanket wrapped around my legs Blush If I wasnt waiting for a courier Id be back in the bloody bed.

Lifeisontheup · 16/01/2013 09:52

Morning everyone,

Slipped off the wagon on night shifts this weekend, was so tired after the first one(late off so 26 hours without sleep) and nearly fell asleep at the wheel in my first mile of the drive home with 19 miles to go. Decided I had to buy something to eat as it's impossible to go to sleep while eating, stopped at the garage and bought a sausage roll. The battle was between falling asleep at the wheel or keeping to the WOE and I think I probably made the right choice.Smile
Back with a vengeance today and having corned beef and lettuce for breakfast. I've got a beef stew in the oven for tonight filled with lots of lovely LC veg and mashed celeriac to soak up the gravy.

At least I've lost 4lbs so quite pleased really, days this weekend so should be easier to stick to WOE.

HavingAnOffDAy · 16/01/2013 09:58

Morning all

Just here to record yesterdays food again

B: 2 eggs scrambled with butter plus 3 slices of edam
L: Celeriac soup - gorgeous!!
D: Chicken breast, pancetta & mushrooms with single cream. Leeks & cabbage cooked with butter, brocoli

BigStickBIWI · 16/01/2013 09:59

Guy - recipe for beef casserole is on the recipe thread. It's up to you if you stick with Bootcamp. Depends how you're getting on with it - and you need to be very sure that if you stick with it, that you're eating properly, i.e. getting your carbs from veg/salad, to make sure that you're getting a balanced diet.

Or you could do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend, which gives you a bit more flexibility

Lifeisontheup - glad you didn't fall asleep at the wheel! But you really need to start planning ahead for occasions such as that, as if you rely on being able to find stuff you can eat at the garage you will be sadly disappointed!

Snacks!! I forgot about them:

FF Greek yog
Celery with philly

I only managed pints of water yesterday so am trying to up it today

slatternlymother · 16/01/2013 10:10

Had plain yoghurt again this morning; I'm finding myself getting hungry come about 10am though (breakfasting about 7am). What other ideas can I steal in order to remain fuller for longer? I'm trying to not snack.

BigStickBIWI · 16/01/2013 10:12

Which yoghurt are you eating, slatternly? Is it really full fat?

If you're still getting hungry, then perhaps you need to consider eating something else as well/instead? How about eggs mashed with butter or mayo? Or scrambled eggs with butter?

When I'm really in ketosis, one boiled egg is enough to keep me going until lunchtime, without snacking.

Lifeisontheup · 16/01/2013 10:19

I know BIWI I had taken snacks but had eaten them all, was a very busy and stressful night. Will know to take more, in fact I may keep olives in the car then I don't get caught out.
