Sorry to be a bit late this morning - no doubt you're all chomping at the bit to declare all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

How did you make the broccoli rice? Can you post it on the recipe thread, please?

OP posts:
NoelHeadbands · 15/01/2013 21:15

Broccoli rice, cauliflower pizza, turnip dauphinois...

Some of our recipes do sound a little like something Baldrick would serve up don't they? Grin not that they aren't delicious of course

gloriafloria · 15/01/2013 21:16

Evening all, Haven't been able to read all the thread due to work but well done everyone sticking at bootcamp. Really starting to enjoy my meals now and breaking the habit of constant pigging out grazing on junk. I'm 8lbs down. I'm expecting that to slow down this week but that's fine as my aim is to get a stone off by May so well on the way. I've told some work colleagues and friends what I'm doing but have had some negative comments such as 'you'll regret this as your metabolism will be mucked up forever' 'this time next year, you'll be back where you started or worse heavier'. It does slightly worry me but also makes me determined to show them.

BigStickBIWI · 15/01/2013 21:18

On the contrary, gloria. You will have stabilised your blood sugar and there is no issue with your metabolism. It's going low calorie that messes your metabolism up.

However, like any diet, when you reach your target weight, you do need to make sure that you don't just revert back to a what you were eating previously - that was put the weight on in the first place.

Just had a plate of cheese and celery and coleslaw with a pepperami.

More water......Grin

Hello everyone! Crickey, been away for a day and I've really missed all the tales of inspiration and support, but it moves so fast I can't keep up!

Am really, really, really struggling today. Evil sugar cravings of doom.

Missing a bit of crunch, BIWI how would this pass as a bootcamp snack

Made Dukkah by toasting cumin, fennel, coriander seed... Stirred in cinnamon, chilli flakes and a few poppy seeds, pounded with pestle (ok a rolling pin and a cereal bowl!) I have dipped small cubes of feta ad cheddar in this and scoffed with enjoyment (and refused to share with DH as he is sipping WINE!!)... Tis really v nice and its preparation took my mind off sugar and wine, at least for a short time Grin

SavoirFaire · 15/01/2013 21:59

broccoli rice now on recipe thread.

Of course you could add something like chili flakes etc - I do have quite bland taste, so you might want to spice it up a bit. Was absolutely lovely as a side to casserole.

Valdeeves · 15/01/2013 22:24

Starfish I hope you and your little one are feeling ok now. And MsNJE - hope you are feeling better too.
I've really struggled today - my DD (5months but 3.5 corrected) has been getting me up at 3am every night as you'd expect but I've hot the wall of tiredness. My DS was at preschool so we went to a lovely music class.
But all I wanted to do was go to Stabucks and have a Chai Tea Latte and a slice of rich chocolate cake. That craving hasn't left me all day.
BIWI - I made your lovely beef dish today - thanks for the recipe.
I know diet drinks are off but will it be a massive set back if I have one glass? (I didn't but I want to!!)

Valdeeves · 15/01/2013 22:26

Btw - it's my bday at the weekend - what's the best planned food and alcohol cheat that won't hold me back to much?

SavoirFaire · 15/01/2013 22:35

Don't do it Valdeeves! This is bootcamp!!! Resist the craving and polish your halo in the morning.

Good on you for doing this with a 5 month old. I did 2 weeks with a 7 month old last year but was driven to wine after that. This year I am older, wise and my children sleep for longer, so I'm going to try and stick it out for the full 10 weeks or at least until I hit target.

Ruprekt · 15/01/2013 22:35

prawn cocktail

steak, salad and celeriac chips if you are eating in.
Steak with a blue cheese sauce and salad if you are out

Cheese board

SavoirFaire · 15/01/2013 22:36

Apparently best booze is vodka and soda.

Food wise just stick to the usual. As it is almost the end of full bootcamp might you be permitted some dark chocolate? Hm. I wonder what BIWI would say.

Ruprekt · 15/01/2013 22:36

Last post was to Valdeeves.

Go and brush your teeth young lady and go to bed!!!!

That is to Valdeeves too. Grin

BIWI will arrive with a big stick in a minute and she will put caps lock on and highlight it all in bold!!!

Do not do it or you will have to start bootcamp again!!!

Valdeeves · 15/01/2013 23:30

Sorry double post! Ah thanks Ruprekt - I did an online Tesco shop for some baby gros and am currently "dream" feeding a baby in the dark in the hope that she won't get up at 3/4am tonight.
I forgot about Steak - of course I can have steak!!
And vodka soda sounds good. I think we def won't be going out as no babysitters so I could pan fry some steaks and make the chips with a watercress salad.
My hubbie has just passed out on the couch as he finished off the pack of Yum Yums I have been ignoring for three days (it has killed me but I did not buy them!)

EldritchCleavage · 16/01/2013 00:10

Morning Low Carbing chums Brew

NoelHeadbands · 16/01/2013 07:19

Morning all

Sausages for breakfast again this morning. I cooked a batch of them off the other day, then I wap a couple in the micro and wrap them in foil to eat at my desk. For some reason, having a little hot foil parcel if sausage in my pocket makes me feel ridiculously happy Grin

thekitchenfairy · 16/01/2013 07:19

Morning all,
Just caught up on yesterday crikey starfish what a shock, hope you got that bath and feel better today Smile

I have a bad-fat test today to see if any change since October ... I havent lost pounds but I am training 3times a week and everything fits better...

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 16/01/2013 07:20

Morning fellow boot-campers! Not posted much this week - but trying to keep up with the thread. Was proper exhausted Monday - almost falling asleep driving too andd from work and had a really bad head in the evening so had an early night.

Foodwise has been ok - eggs for breakfast, salad with avacado and eggs/prawns and mayo for lunch, Monday night I had salmon, garlic mushrooms and green beans, then last night I had belly pork, a sort of hunters chicken with bacon and cheese topping, brocoli, cauliflower and green beans. I also had some lettuce wraps with butter and blue cheese as a snack.
Really enjoying finding new things.

I had a sneaky weigh this morning and am another 2lbs down - so a much more respectable 3lbs off in total, which I am pleased about. The extra water is working!

Its my birthday next week so we have all the family down at the weekend for a buffet.....and I need some ideas, please! So far its prawns, smoked salmon, prawn cocktail, cold meats, chicken portions and skewers, olives, salad, some sausages (if I can find the right ones) and a crustless quiche.

Assuming we cant have shop bought vegetable crisps - as they will be full of naughtiness - but not sure if I am up to making my own?

thekitchenfairy · 16/01/2013 07:22

I have awoken with a yen for gammon but there is none in the house, so spiced eggs and spinach for me, hoping sugar cravings of doom do not put in an appearance today...
