I had my hypno gastric band 'fitted' by Paul McKenna last night...

...so far so good! Admittedly its not even 11am yet, but I havent eaten my snacks which are sitting on my desk and not even tempting me! Normally I don't allow myself anything till 10am, then I pounce!

I am doing this in conjunction with weightwatchers, which Paul McKenna would not approve of, since he despises 'diet clubs' (boy does this come through loud and clear in his book).

However since I don't know the man personally, and I feel I need the WW sessions for support, I am carrying on with pro- pointing and hoping that my gastric band will provide the backup I need to not binge and eat more than my body needs.

I've been (back) on weightwatchers for several months now and failed miserably because I am both a compulsive eater and a (hopefully) reformed bulimic.

I'd like to think this will help me - and I'm willing to try it because I am now as heavy as I was just after I gave birth to DS2 3 years ago (my heaviest, unless you count when I was 40 weeks pg!)

If anyone is interested I will report back :)

Put on a pound!!!!!!! So that's the last 2 weeks losses back on! I'm putting it down to my natural weight fluctuation, as I've stuck to the rules 100% (most of the time)

Got a really busy week again this week, which is good because I suffer from terrible boredom eating. Also planning to do some proper exercise to jump start some decent weight losses.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Rulesgirl · 24/06/2013 16:25

Fairy I know its frustrating but well done on you for planning to continue this mindful eating. Mine fluctuates to and this month if have only lost 3lbs. Now I could derail myself and have nearly done so but then I think it through and realise that I obviously am still not doing it truly mindfully. Because if I was then I would be losing more weight. Even just a couple of things eaten mindlessly affects things over a couple of weeks if it continues. So back to the beginning again for me. I had stopped listening to the cd every day and that didn't help. I think people give up on this woe because they don't get quick results but if you can just think of it in terms of losing half a pound a week then over a year that would be 24 pounds which is nearly 2 stone. So thinking that I could be a stone lighter by Christmas without having dieted. Or I could faff around and try something else and still be in the same place I am right now by Christmas. IYSWIM.

Fairygen · 25/06/2013 09:08

rules, tbh I'm probably not being as mindful as I think I am! I ate quite a few biscuits at the weekend, just because they were there.Blush

Rulesgirl · 25/06/2013 13:13

Hehe....it's a simple way of,eating but it's nor easy Grin

sixtyfive · 25/06/2013 23:01

just started my pretend gastric band weight loss programme, im sick of calorie counting, red & green days, point counting, etc, hope it works,xx

Rulesgirl · 26/06/2013 02:56

It works but you need to do the four golden rules always. You can and will lose weight if you eat mindfully. The band is a back up that gives you the full feeling. But you really do need to tune into your hunger signals. Its not a diet its a way of life, freedom from dieting.Smile

Fairygen · 26/06/2013 11:18

Good morning ladies, listened to the cd last night for the first time in ages and wow, wow, wow! I've woken up this morning feeling really motivated and bursting with energy. Although I love the rules, the band cd certainly makes a difference.

Hi, sixty five, I really does work, just stick to the rules. If you're used to diet and slimming clubs, you might find the weight loss a bit slower, but it's so worth it because you can eat ANYTHING. The freedom is amazing.

Rulesgirl · 26/06/2013 13:20

Go Fairy....Go Fairy !!!! For me the band is definitely the icing on the cake. I need to listen to it at least every two days.Grin

Fairygen · 26/06/2013 19:11

I can't believe I put off installing the band for so long!! I'd forgotten how much easier it made following the rules. This time I'm definitely going to use the havening too.

Movingforward123 · 27/06/2013 07:41

Hi everyone,

I've borrowed this book from the library, and going to try it. I have tried his other weight loss book before but it didn't seem to work for me.

Has anyone really lost much weight on this? Or noticed a change in mind set?

My problem is my mindset and just putting way too much junk into my mouth when I know I shouldn't.

I am desperate to loose weight but I won't stick to anything Hmm

KrispyBiscuits · 27/06/2013 08:52

Hi All

Hope you don't mind me joining the conversation. I recently quit smoking after nearly 20 years (yay!), but as suspected seemed to have replaced smoking with eating!

I've since put on 4 kgs (I'm an aussie so I use the metric system!).

Reading the book for the first time this evening, hoping this will assist with me replacing the ciggies with eating.

Open to any tips and suggestions in using the program successfully!

Thanks - Krispy

Hi Ladies. With regard to weight loss. Its not a quick fix. Its to change your relationship with food to stop you binging and starving. So yes....you will find yourself about to eat something and some little voice in your head says..."do you really want that and are you really hungry". It gives you the power to tune into your real hunger signals again. But you do have to follow the simple 4 golden rules still. The band helps you to do that much more efficiently. If its not working for you then its more likely your not really tuning in to your proper hunger signals and are overriding them still. This way means that you eat less which ultimately leads to weight loss. Same thing diets and diet clubs do only they make you pay money to be told to eat less or eat in a certain way, which at the end of the day is just taking in less calories.
Krispy hellooooo.......where in Australia are you? Im Australian but have lived here for many many many years now.

Thank you very much RULESGIRL . I would very much like to put up my before and after photo but not sure how to do it. Will have to wait until my daughter visits.

I would like everyone to relax and take one day at a time and follow Paul's advice by not being a slave to the scales or unrealistic time scale as to how much weight you want to loose. Don't forget that it took time to put the weight on, so it will take time to get it off. Also if you have a day when you have a little too much to eat, don't worry and beat yourself up just focus the following day. THERE ARE NO BAD DAYS LADIES. Good luck and take each day as it come.

Rulesgirl · 28/06/2013 09:11

We'll I am looking forward to seeing them Grin I think you download them from " my pictures" in desktop to your profile page on mumsnet. If your not sure then Yeh...get your daughter to assist. Grin

Rulesgirl · 28/06/2013 09:15

And thank you for your helpful much needed advice. A lot of people start this woe Luke they do a diet and when they don't get results every week magically then they stop bothering to apply the rules Luke they did in the beginning. I find that it definitely works but it's an ongoing process of learning about yourself and your attitude to food. Grin

Had my hypnotic gastric band fitted last night i am determined to make this work so will let you know my progress.

PostBellumBugsy · 01/07/2013 12:22

OK - so, I read the book, I listened to the CD and did the trance & I started well. I didn't snack between meals, I was serving myself smaller portions and eating mindfully.

This was about 3 weeks ago & now I feel like it has all just disappeared.

At no point have I actually been able to feel full while I am eating. I will feel full afterwards - which is definitely an achievement - but at no point have I felt full after a few mouthfuls.

I was listening to the CD every morning but I found I just kept falling asleep and I was feeling like it wasn't affecting me so much.

Any tips from anyone who has been through this & come out the other side?

Rulesgirl · 02/07/2013 22:31

PostBellum good for you. Think this thread has gone quiet so if I were you I would go on the Paul McKenna ICMYT smile

Rulesgirl · 07/07/2013 17:52

Hi Ladies, I'm sorry to see you all gone. If you are still doing pm then brilliant and if you have stopped because it didn't work for you, then that is a shame. Too many people treat PM like just another miracle diet and when they don't lose a stone in a month then they give up believing it doesn't work. Thing is, it does work. It's not a diet it's just the way slim people eat. This woe takes practice because of the diet mentality that exists within us. People do lose weight with it though. The reason people don't lose weight with it is because they stop doing the mindful eating and then give up. I do hope some of you find your way back to it when you have tried the diets again because it really frees you from diets forever. Grin

katelynelizabeth · 09/07/2013 02:42

Been stress eating lately, took a good loook at what I've been doing and trying to cut out my stress or resolve the issues and making sure i check in with the hunger scale before I eat anything.

I find when I eat its triggered by an empty aching feeling, not in my stomach but in my throat, I think that is my body saying it's just cravings.

How is everyone else tracking :)?

EggInABap · 15/07/2013 18:57

Anyone still doing this?

I have just purchased the book from eBay so hope to start in the next few days.

Have tried every diet under the sun, they are all a success until the diet 'ends' and normal eating/bingeing has resumed.

I did have a little success with Paul Mckennas ICMYT last year and I remember this feeling I had which was just magical, like a weight had been lifted. Literally! However I found that after a night out it all went to pot when I was hungover and I slowly lost my way. Struggled to ever get back on it!

Hope to hear someone is still doing this Smile

Rulesgirl · 15/07/2013 19:06

Yes still doing it but thread has gone quiet. Come over to Paul McKenna A Simple Title .......you will find loads of support and its very welcoming and friendly Grin
