I had my hypno gastric band 'fitted' by Paul McKenna last night...

...so far so good! Admittedly its not even 11am yet, but I havent eaten my snacks which are sitting on my desk and not even tempting me! Normally I don't allow myself anything till 10am, then I pounce!

I am doing this in conjunction with weightwatchers, which Paul McKenna would not approve of, since he despises 'diet clubs' (boy does this come through loud and clear in his book).

However since I don't know the man personally, and I feel I need the WW sessions for support, I am carrying on with pro- pointing and hoping that my gastric band will provide the backup I need to not binge and eat more than my body needs.

I've been (back) on weightwatchers for several months now and failed miserably because I am both a compulsive eater and a (hopefully) reformed bulimic.

I'd like to think this will help me - and I'm willing to try it because I am now as heavy as I was just after I gave birth to DS2 3 years ago (my heaviest, unless you count when I was 40 weeks pg!)

If anyone is interested I will report back :)

Hello ladies!
Fairy trust me, I won't be one of those walking about in the sun with my arse hanging out of my shorts as seems to be the fashion! Grin maxi dresses for me too!

veryberrybug · 05/06/2013 21:42

heheh yep i been baking myself Grin how good is this weather eh? i could get used to this. but the hoose is a tip... nevermind i'll do it when the weather turns crap again Wink
yes rules i nearly died of pride when she came onstage, me & DP should've had a proud-parents-flag saying "we made her"!! he was totally clutching my hand (& is usually typically blokeish non-over-emotional) & i was all ready to bubble yet grinning like an idiot !

clench i'll take that as a compliment! TBH i found exercise really helps keep my mood good, or lift it if i'm low, or get me back on a level if i'm stressed: a bit of a cure-all for me! if it helps me lose some bloody weight it'll be the icing on the cake i just ate! Biscuit just been to zumba & as always by track 3 i'm pink, perspiring & grinning like a cheshire cat! this weekend is hereby renamed EFT weekend, if i can just get there...

how are you all today? how's the band settling in jibberoo? chester i got mine in sainsbury's £6.49 but that was a few months ago...

veryberrybug · 05/06/2013 21:51

ditto the clothes dilemna ! i went along to school in last summer's longs yesterday... & had to walk back trying desperately not to howk my pants out my bum as they're guttingly too tight sigh so i'm down to one pair (which were too big last year, now tight & 2 vest tops i can wear on a confident day, otherwise back to the big floaty grandad shirt Sad so off to primark soon, shit having to buy fat clothes (& horrible having to see yucky bulges & cellulitey stuff eeuuw under harsh striplights in shop changing rooms) but no as shit if they're cheap at least! Wink

veryberrybug · 05/06/2013 21:53

that's down to one pair of longs, not pants!! Blush

Jibberoo · 06/06/2013 13:53

Loving the sun here too (if only on my breaks at work). I can't believe they don't prescribe PM on the Nhs, it's bloody amazing!! Day 4 and I've never ate so little yet had so much energy! I've lost 2kg since sat (I started eating less on sat even though I only got fitted Monday night)!!!
My only worry is that it will wear off and ill go back to normal bad eating. I know I can readjust the band but I don't want to do it too often incase it stops working. This is so much more than a way to loose weight - it's a total change in life. That's the hardest part, to accept that I am now a person who eats less and doesn't need food all around me just in case I'm hungry (which I rarely am now).
Hope everyone is feeling happy, positive and successful Grin

Rulesgirl · 06/06/2013 14:31

Hi jib ....I know...it's amazing. I listen to it every night and its fine. Just use it when you feel you need it. I only want to lose a stone or so. I have energy and eat whatever I want. Often it's fruit but terrys choc orange is my new best friend but it's lasted me five days now. I eat and then after a couple of mouthfulls something says.....enough....and I then say.....is it....and voice says .....yes.!!! hahaha.Grin

Rulesgirl · 06/06/2013 15:10

but I only listen to the second part...the fitting bit Grin jib

Jibberoo · 06/06/2013 16:24

Thanks rules Smile glad over use won't dampen the affects! Had a small mr whippy today and only ate half! So proud of myself today I've had 1 piece. Of toast, 1 coffee, half salad and cheese sandwich, 1 satsuma and 1/2 small mr whippy!! And I'm not hungry!!!
How long have you been under the band and how has it worked for you rules?

themidwife · 06/06/2013 18:01

I need to reinstall - its completely lost its very temporary effect. Sad

Rulesgirl · 06/06/2013 19:13

When did you install it Midwife?

themidwife · 06/06/2013 20:49

Rulesgirl · 06/06/2013 21:06

And how did it work for you midwife?

themidwife · 06/06/2013 22:01

The first time I fitted it about 3 weeks ago it was fantastic - definitely eating less the first few days & could feel I was losing weight. Then it got to the weekend & I drank to much alcohol & it all went to pot & I ate more agsin. I reinstalled the band again but it never really felt as if it had worked again the same way. I'm not eating huge quantities or completely stuffing myself but I am eating normal (no weight loss) amounts & choosing fattening foods when emotionally stressed. I need to reinstall & do the Havening frequently to combat the emotional eating & drinking I think. Any advice?

themidwife · 06/06/2013 22:02

Excuse the iPhone correcting typos!

Rulesgirl · 06/06/2013 22:08

mmmmm. Ive been doing the ICMYT since last year. Only did the GB a week and a half ago but so far its really working well and losing weight. Its just there in my head to remind me that im not really hungry or that I have had enough. I do feel when im full more though. I listen to it every day.

Fairygen · 07/06/2013 13:28

I still haven't installed my band!! Blush I wanted to do the whole cd, so finding a quiet hour in this mad house has been near impossible this week. I'm sticking to the rules, but know I need the backup of the band because the full signals aren't as strong without it. Def installing tonight!!!

midwife I really struggled when I drank. sticking to the rules went out the window after a couple of glasses of wine. I started knitting in the evenings to keep my hands busy and away from snacking out of boredom.

Rulesgirl · 07/06/2013 14:27

Ooo that's a good idea Fairy....the knitting.

themidwife · 07/06/2013 14:48

Yes I think wine is a no no! My favourite thing too Sad

SirRaymondClench · 07/06/2013 17:57

Hi everyone! My weight isn't shifting and I'm so bloated it's ridiculous Sad
I weighed myself this morning and my suspicions were right, I've not moved from where I left off last week after I lost 3lbs. If anything I'm half a pound heavier!
Whats going on?

Fairygen · 07/06/2013 19:31

I had a sneaky weigh this morning, and not over the moon either. I think my problem is that with all the hot weather, I've been drinking loads of fizzy drinks.

My favourite is shloer, but a whole bottle is about 400 cals. I know we shouldn't be counting calories, but compared to my usual water or sugar free squash, that must make a difference. I can easily drink 2 bottles a day in this weather!! Back to water tomorrow.

What about carbs clench ? I find if I eat pasta I feel really bloated. Also you lost loads last week. 3 lbs is a lot to lose when you're not actually dieting.

Jibberoo · 07/06/2013 21:03

Fairy/clench I know how frustrating it is not seeing those pounds shift. Although I've only been on the band less than a week I've dieted loads and know the frustration. While I'm still weighing myself often I'm trying not to look at this as a weight loss program but rather a normal eating one. If the pounds shift great, if they don't (and I'm eating healthily, moving around and not binging) then at least I know I have a more healthy approach to food. Having said that ill be pissed if the pounds don't shift Grin
All I can say is 4 rules and exercise have to be the way to go (and ie become slightly addicted to listening to the trance in bed as I did it so relaxing!) I would avoid alcohol and fizzy drinks as they can't be healthy in large quantities whether you're trying to loose weight or not Wink
Good luck this weekend ladies!
Ps I'm down 3kgs this week but fully see this as water loss so am hoping for at least 1kg of fat next week!

SirRaymondClench · 07/06/2013 21:09

I've been drinking 2l at least of water a day and not been eating diet stuff but haven't been eating too many fattening things, and I've been following the rules. My tummy has been all spongy which is water retention.
Feel a bit disheartened although I know thats not helping.

Jibberoo · 07/06/2013 21:55

Don't worry sirraymond te water will shift (just don't stop drinking water). Personal q but could you be premenstral? I'm always bloated just before

SirRaymondClench · 07/06/2013 22:17

It's very possible Jib truth is I'm not sure.
I have PMDD (severe form of PMT) and am waiting for a date for a hysterectomy because of it.
I am currently having injections every 3 months which shut down my ovaries.
They ran out a couple of months ago and I had my new injection about a month ago, so I don't know where I would be in my cycle as such because it takes a while to kick in.
I wanted to lose a stone before my op because afterwards I will be in surgical menopause (am currently classed as in chemical meno) and and I'm worried about putting loads of weight on Sad

Rulesgirl · 07/06/2013 22:44

Clench considering all that's going on with your body at the moment I wouldn't worry too much about the weight. Would it be better if we didn't weight on here once a week but maybe once a month? Please take your measurements all over and right them down in a book then compare your measurements. Week to week our weight goes up and down....possible over a month you would see better. I have to add that when I first started doing PMICMYT that although I followed the rules and listened to the cd it took me a good couple of months to really tune in to my body. Once I allowed myself to start eating normally and eating anything it took awhile to get properly in touch with my appetite cause of the novelty of eating this way. So be patient and try and think of it long term. Its takes awhile to become really good at this cause we are so screwed up with how we think about our selves our bodies and food.Smile
