Last one filled up really quickly, so here is a brand, spanking and distinctly thinner thread for you to fill up.

JustasmallGless - No it's not....Sad

Off to the hospital now AKA vending machine Hell. I'm just going to buy a sparkling water on the way and fight the craving/try to stay awake. I can do this.

barleywood · 13/01/2013 13:22

ilovemyteddy....wow. Inspiration for the rest of us Smile

BigStickBIWI · 13/01/2013 13:30

carbalanche - great name! - what's NLY?

Sounds like you should get a good result if you've been that strict!

thatgirlsevil - sorry to hear about DS, and hope you're not in A&E for too long. Don't give in to the sugar craving though! Take something with you to eat as well as drink - a piece of cheese, perhaps?

Ilovemyteddy Wow Wow Wow - amazing! You're such an inspiration! I've taken some "before" pics of myself this morning, hoping to see the difference in the coming weeks and months.

Its Day 13 for me and I'm 8lbs down. Not as big a loss of some here but I'm happy with that. Looking forward to filling in the spreadsheet tomorrow and seeing it fill up with all the fantastic losses there's been this week.

I'm off down the pub for a Sunday roast. Anything in particular I need to remember/avoid? I will give DD my spuds and any other carby veg and will ask for the gravy on the side. Pudding will be coffee with cream. Mmmm!

GinotPrigio · 13/01/2013 13:54

Coldethyl He's probably just overdid it. He should be fine with a lie down and lots of water. Keep him hydrated!

slatternlymother · 13/01/2013 13:54

ilove your pictures are fantastic! You look great!

coldethyl tbh I would have done the same. I think sugar does have its place and it's for times like that. BIWI might come along and hit me with her big stick in a minute though! Did he eat before he went out?

BigStickBIWI · 13/01/2013 14:02

coldethyl- it's tough in the initial few weeks, doing intensive exercise, as your body is adjusting to burning fat rather than carbs. Sounds like he overdid it, but as long as he takes it easy and drinks plenty of water then he will be fine.

Did he eat anything before he went to the gym? Has he eaten anything since?

Don't give him lemonade, as this won't help him in the longer term.

Biwi NLY is Natural Live Yoghurt (usually Total full fat stuff which is one of the lowest in carbs)

Glad you like the name - a sort of play on "carb avalanche" which is what I've been buried under before starting this here old low-carb trip again Grin

BigStickBIWI · 13/01/2013 14:03

And tell him to take it easy next time, until he's properly into low carbing.

Sugar does not have a place here! Don't fall for the myths peddled by the likes of Lucozade/Gatorade. Unless you are really an elite athlete, where there is a role for that kind of stuff, water is really all you need - as well as eating well/properly before and after exercise.

At this stage, he should definitely eat something before he goes to the gym. I tend to go the gym at stupid o'clock, so can't face cooking anything, and usually just have some yoghurt. High fat and a lot of protein, too, which I think helps.

As for the husband, I think he may not really need to exercise much at all at first as his body gets used to what he is eating and he needs regular meals.

I wish it were made clearer at schools to children that water is what they need to drink, not all these sports energy drinks which are basically sugared water sometimes with caffeine added.

BigStickBIWI · 13/01/2013 14:22

coldethyl He might want to have a listen to this podcast too

thatgirls my DS had viral tonsillitis nefore xmas. His tonsils were all yellow with red spots on and so large they nearly met in the middle. He didn't eat for over a week. Despite 2 visits to the doctors they would't give him antibiotics because they said it was viral, that was despite him running a temp for over a week. He finally got antibiotics the night before xmas eve at the ooh docs because it had turned into a very painful sinus infection.
Hopefully things will go better for you and they will give antibiotics. Nothing worse than seeing your DC poorly and feeling like you can't do anything.

pistey i am contemplating signing up for the 'sheruns' 10k in windsor great park on may 6th. The furthest i have ever run is 7k last summer but have only ever done 5k since then.
I went out for my first run in 4 months this morning. It was bloody cold and i didn't go far. My feet were freezing and numb when i got in as i realised the perils of running in barefoot shoes in winter Hmm

Novelty Oh love. Keep posting. Try not to feel guilty - guilt is just another negative emotion that doesn't need to be associated with food. Onwards!
