Last one filled up really quickly, so here is a brand, spanking and distinctly thinner thread for you to fill up.

Novelty it was only one day and you can get right back on that horse and grab the reins again.

I've posted a pic on my profile of me taken this morning - one year older and 5 st lighter Grin

slatternlymother · 13/01/2013 11:07

Novelty try not to dwell on it, it isn't worth it. Sorry your ex caused you that much stress Sad emotional eating is SO hard to beat. You haven't ruined it, we're all on a journey together, and this stuff is going to crop up from time to time. You watch, it'll be me next weekend!

Have you got your meals roughly planned for next week and some LC foods in the fridge?

Tomorrow is another day.

Jacaqueen · 13/01/2013 11:14

I meant to tell you about this.

I recently found out that dark rum has no carbs and instantly wanted some. Never mind that it is Bootcamp or that I have tasted most other types of alcohol over the past few weeks. I have managed to resist buying any as I know that as soon as I do I will want to try it, and once it is opened it will be difficult to ignore it.

On the way home from the cinema I mentioned needing to go to tesco for a few things. Nothing was urgently needed at that moment though. I did have a thought that if they happened to have rum (as if they wouldn't,) I might buy some. Well DH forgot and we didn't stop at the tesco next to the cinema. However we passed around 6 other shops on our journey home. As we approached each one I had an argument with myself about whether or not we should stop. It was like I was Gollum and Smeagol talking myself in and out of being naughty.

I am happy to report that we did not stop and no rum was purchased. It does mean I now have to go out in the snow to buy supplies for packed lunches.

Very impressive, I love my teddy!! You look great! You must be so pleased!

Jacaqueen · 13/01/2013 11:18

Wow Ilove!

That is just amazing.

BlackAffronted · 13/01/2013 11:18

Had about 6 vodkas last night - ouch! Had just a large handfull of peanuts and lots of cucumber dipped in sour cream dip. Wasnt tempted by the pringles!

I seem to have signed up for an 8 hour Zumbathon though Shock If any of you lovely bootcampers would like to sponsor me, I would glady send you my Just Giving link :) Even a £1 would be brilliant.

I cant actually believe I have agreed to do it! This WOE has given me such a boost, extra confidence and the knowledeg that I can do it - so thanks to Biwi and every one of you Grin

BlackAffronted · 13/01/2013 11:25

ILove you look amazing! A huge well done!!

BlackAffronted · 13/01/2013 11:26

Well done Jac, for resisting!

BigStickBIWI · 13/01/2013 11:26

Novelty - have some (((((hugs))))) from me. What a shit day it sounds like you had Sad (apart from meeting your friend, which I imagine was good!)

I'm glad that you posted though because this will happen to all of us at some point. Either intentionally, or through no fault of our own, e.g. being invited to a dinner party where you can't refuse anything.

First, as others have said, get straight back on the LC wagon, and have a couple of ultra strict days, with lots of water

Second, consider why you turn to carby stuff when feeling bad - the IPD book, as justonemoregless says, is really good to read here; see what strategies you can find for dealing with it in the future

Third, don't dwell on it! It's the past and there's nothing you can do to alter the past. We are all here for you going forward and, as someone well-famous once said, 'tomorrow is another day' Grin

ilovemyteddy - those photos are fab - you look amazing now Thanks What an inspiration!

As an example of the unintentional: I went to a very good friend's for dinner. Because he is a good friend, I felt able to tell him about low carbing, and I even spelt out in an e-mail what I couldn't eat.

This is the (lovely) meal we were served:

Appetisers - tortilla chips, a whole, baked Camembert (to share) with bread sticks to dip in

OK, I could have avoided this; I managed to avoid the tortillas, but the cheese was to die for. I 'only' had 2 breadsticks

Starter - leek and potato soup with melba toast - served dished up to us

by now I'm heading rapidly into 'in for a penny, in for a pound' territory

Main course - barbecued/marinated lamb, with a honey crust, mashed swede and potato, red cabbage with cranberries, carrots, broccoli

so only the broccoli was truly safe here!

Pudding - Christmas pudding with white sauce and/or rhubarb crumble with custard and cream

I don't like Christmas pudding so I had the crumble, because I love rhubarb, and there was no cheese board because we'd had cheese as the appetiser!

The only saving grace was the lack of alcohol for me because I was driving!

The point of this is to say that it happens. But we're in this for the long haul, and so in the great scheme of things, as long as you return to low carbing immediately afterwards, it will all even itself out.

Ilovemyteddy, you are amazing, such an inspiration. It's 10 weeks until my one year anniversary and if I can do 2lbs a week, I can achieve a 5 stone loss too. I think it might be a bit ambitious, as I have my 40th birthday, another big party and a weekend away which will involve drink, but there's no harm in aiming high.

Xenia · 13/01/2013 11:38

In that case it sounds like he might be one of those people who hate people with dietary requirements who went out of his way to make sure there were carbs all over the place. He cannot have done it in error surely....

Firsttimepig · 13/01/2013 11:42

Hi all, thanks SavoirFaire for the recommendation to come over. My story I am on Pig to Twig (IPD) 6lbs down last week but only 1lb this week. I am truly peed off. I have done everything the same. I find the not knowing how much is too much on this diet hard. " if i'm hungry snack on a plate of cheese" which they recommend. Anyone else on this diet ? I guess 1/2 stone in two weeks is good. I've been a bit rubbish on the working out, but gym starts this week, I'm hoping the usual spinning class will help. In cm I've lost a total of 39.5cm which I am pleased about...........just those damb 1lb's !!!

BigStickBIWI · 13/01/2013 11:46

No Xenia - it was absolutely not done deliberately. Just a complete lack of understanding. After all, he didn't serve pasta or rice ...

WillieWaggledagger · 13/01/2013 12:05

Teddy you look brilliant. I have bought dresses but haven't yet had the courage to wear them

Jac gollum and smeagol is the PERFECT analogy for those self-sabotaging thoughts - well done for winning that battle!

Firsttimepig a large loss in your first week and a smalle loss in the second week is very common. In the first week your glycogen stores are depleting whih will account for several pounds. My understanding is that it's really very difficult to lose more than 1-2lb of actual fat in a week on average. Also, weight loss is not linear - you will have weeks where you lose nothing (or even gain slightly) and other where you drop 4lb for no apparent reason, despite following the diet all he time

So don't lose heart! As long as the overall trajectory is downwards, and you're enjoying your food and eating in a sustainable way long term you will be fine. You've done we'll so far so jut remember you are much lighter than you were two weeks ago!

thatgirlsevil · 13/01/2013 12:09

Ilovemyteddy - You look fantastic, a real inspiration.

Well folks, DS's throat looks positively unsightly and he's just broken out in a nasty rash on his legs and back, temperature shooting up as well. NHS direct tell me to take him to the nearest walk-in so I'm just waiting for a lift as DS naps. I feel absolutely knackered and in desperate need of a sugar boost...is this psychological? Would it kill me to have a Diet Coke from the vending machine whilst I'm there or should I be making up a flask of green tea as I type...?

The last time I went to the Hospital Walk-In I was there over 6 hours after it turned out DS had Scarlett Fever.

JustasmallGless · 13/01/2013 12:12

Unlike the friend who emailed me asking my dietary requirements then completely ignored it and served tomato soup with bread and lasagne!!

PlatoonBuffoon · 13/01/2013 12:13

Hello all. Just checking in to say hi as haven't posted for a few days.

Just had a major achievement - baked a cake with the kids without licking the bowl. Actually, I really didn't want to!

I had a bit of a boozy night on Friday as it was my sister's birthday but I low carbed food-wise all the way. And been reading IPD this weekend. Couldn't recommend it enough. As others have said, the section on emotional eating is excellent.

So feeling pretty good, apart from a bit if a case of ghost poos. You know, the ones where you can feel their presence but there is no concrete evidence they actually exist.

novelty, really sorry you had such a crap day and please keep posting. We will all have slip ups I'm sure like my two bottles of wine on Friday and, well I guess life keeps happening and these things will crop up. Like others have said, move on, be kind to yourself and get straight back on the wagon. We are all in this together!

WillieWaggledagger · 13/01/2013 12:18

Thatgirlsevil, you poor thing and your poor ds. Is it tonsillitis? I had it a few months ago with an erythema multiforma rash and it was so miserable. Coffee or tea are better than artificially sweetened fizzy drinks if you need he caffeine

thatgirlsevil · 13/01/2013 12:26

WillieWaggledagger - I think tonsillitis is a pretty good guess...I'm hoping it's something a course of antibiotics will fix anyway.

As for the drinks, I hate coffee and generally take tea with a teaspoon of sugar. It seems to be a shot of sweetness I'm really (desperately) craving and it's driving me a bit mad. I just looked at the Vimto cordial on the shelf and that seems pretty low carb. I'm wondering if half a small glass of that might curb the craving.

It must just be the lack of sleep, shit.

JustasmallGless · 13/01/2013 12:36

I wouldn't personally - it kicks in sugar cravings for me. Can you eat something low carb which might fill you up?
Is your vimto sugar free?

carbalanche · 13/01/2013 12:46

Ilovemyteddy you must FEEL fabulous because you sure do look it!!

Quite nervous about my weigh-in tomorrow - I have been stricter with myself on this week then I have EVER been before. I've also done no cheese or cream and have only allowed myself butter and NLY. I've had to sit through a whole birthday WEEKEND surrounded by chocolate cake, jelly, crisps and fizzy wine and have been an absolute PARAGON of virtue (or a party-pooper according to some!).

I WANT RESULTS!!

ToomuchWaternotWine · 13/01/2013 12:56

ilovemyteddy looking hot mama!! Well done!!

Lol at "ghost poos" I know that!

I had a tumble yesterday too but I KNOW I feel better on LCing so onwards and downwards!!

thatgirlsevil hope Ds gets seen quickly and feels better soon, wee soul. Try the green tea, it does have a little caffeine so that might help.

BlackAffronted · 13/01/2013 12:56

Thanks to those who PM'd me to sponsor me!
