I can't even bring myself to type in my weight because I am so ashamed :(

I need to lose 3.5 stone before the end of May (going on holiday with a thin friend) I am doing My Fitness Pal (calorie counting) and I am going to do 1200 calories a day. It's brutal I know but then so was the reading on my scales this morning.

Effing Nora :(

Feeling more than bit of a lard arse looking at everyone else's food diaries!

However, in my defence I can't afford to go shopping for diet food as I may have spent January's food budget on an iPad Blush

It should make quite an interesting experiment though!

Chubfuddler · 09/01/2013 13:23

If this thread becomes a quiche it has to be called the chiefs.

superbaghag · 09/01/2013 13:24

I had 2 scrambled eggs and cup of tea. I'm usually fine during the day but it's really hard once the children come home form school. I also inhale their leftovers without thinking.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/01/2013 13:28

I hate to rain on parades, but there is an awful lot of talk of diets on this thread.

Diets don't work.
Diets are a short term fix that involve unsustainable deprivation. You get to your goal weight, start eating normally and pile it all back on again and more.

What you want is a sustainable lifestyle change for the rest of your life, or at some point the weight will go back on.

You need to eat between your BMR and TDEE and not starve yourself or cut out any major food groups.

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers · 09/01/2013 13:28

Afternoon chiefs and welcome new chief, SuperBagHag!

Still doing OK, I think. I scronfed on a few of DS's chocolate buttons last night (about 6) but I tracked them and was still under my calorie goal.

Shiney, I was well under my calorie goal yesterday and a bit under on Monday. But I was FULL. What shall I do?! Do I have to stuff myself to goal or can I just leave it if I'm full?

Anyway, the calorie deficit might come in handy as I've had a spanner thrown into my weight-loss works... I totally forgot that I am going to a cookery school this saturday at a Michelin starred restaurant (DH bought it as a birthday present for me) I will be making bread/4 courses then I will have to eat the lunch. I'm guessing I won't be making Ryvita and tuna salad :(

PoohBears Good point about the not looking old thing. I have to strike the right age/weight ratio.

Chub June is a lifetime away, you're right. And perhaps I shouldn't peak too early?

TigerFeet · 09/01/2013 13:32

That's OK Randall, you can post on your lovely new ipad about having no food to eat, losing weight all the while.

chiefquiche Grin

TigerFeet · 09/01/2013 13:34

mmmm...... quiche......

Pinot · 09/01/2013 13:37

Bups, me too. I want to understand about feeling full yet not having eaten enough....??

Shiney? Mo? Anyone?

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers · 09/01/2013 13:41

ItsAllGoingToBeFine, I am eating just under my BMR (under by 200 calories) I started too low (Shiney was right as usual!) so upped by 200 calories. I've only been doing this for two days but I'm definitely not starving, in fact I'm feeling fuller than ever. I mjst have been eating so many empty calories before because I reckon I was troughing about 3000+ calories a day down the hatch and still on the prowl for snacks etc most of the time. UNWISE FOOD CHOICES

Fuck! I just followed that link and apparently I have a body fat percentage of 43.7% Shock
I knew I was a Lardy arse, but I'm almost half fat. I bet I float if you chuck me in the sea.
Apparently, my BMR is 1630, so at least I can up my MFP daily allowance from 1200.

Hello, by the way, I've lurked on this thread, but been on other MFP / shredding threads recently Grin

gillian88 · 09/01/2013 13:43

Hi all new poster here!! I've always struggled with my weight but since havin two pregnancies inside two years I've turned into a human marshmallow Sad. My baby is 5 months and I'm still wearing maternity clothes! Decided on Monday that enough is enough so waddled down to boots chemist to weigh myself using the super fancy scales and was panicking thinking 'bet it's gonna say I'm about 14 and a half stone' then it flashed up a whopping 16st 0lb!! Blush

Pinot · 09/01/2013 13:46

How do I work out BMR? In idiots terms? (That link was so long...)

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers · 09/01/2013 13:48

Hello WiseKneeHair and gillian! Come and join us on MFP. :)

By summer we'll be chiefs no more.

OP posts:
nilbyname · 09/01/2013 13:48

gillian I did the boots scales thing this morning too. It is a downer for sure! But it can only decrease!

Think it is all about eating the right sort of foods? I had a small handful of soy beans and salt, instead of crisps as a snack. I feel really full and I feel energised! They were also delicious just like how they used to be in Japan and now in Wagamamas

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers · 09/01/2013 13:49

Here you go Pinot, bab

CarriedAwayAnnie · 09/01/2013 13:54

Sorry to be an idiot but if my BMR is 1,533, what should my claorie limit be?

Pinot · 09/01/2013 13:55

Thanks lovely.

Chubfuddler · 09/01/2013 13:55

Gillian fret not. I was nearly sixteen stone this time last year, I got two stone off in four months, then maintained (I wasn't trying to lose tbh) until December and them lost another half a stone. I'm ready now to do the final 2 stone I need to lose. My baby was five months old this time last year and like you I was in maternity clothes. You can do it. It will be ok.

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers · 09/01/2013 13:56

OK, you need to work out your total daily expenditure (calories burned)

OP posts:
Pinot · 09/01/2013 13:56

I think it should be 1533, unless I've completely misunderstood?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/01/2013 13:56

You need to work out your BMR and your TDEE and then eat less than your TDEE but more than your BMR.

Chubfuddler · 09/01/2013 13:57

To be fair wise everyone floats in the sea.

Fern123 · 09/01/2013 13:57

Bloody F-king Nora is right, i just used that link to calculate my BMR and I should be eating 1700 cals to LOOSE weight, dread to think what amount of cals I actually have been eating! Mortified.

On the bright side I've upped my MFP cal allowance and now yesterday's terrible over consumption isn't so bad - although still over!

Had porridge and fruit for breakfast and homemade veg soup for lunch with a small wholemeal roll so need to get through to bedtime with little/no snacks and then I'll have one good day under my humungous belt.
