oh well done MulledWineGless! Thanks

BIWI I'm definitely eating enough (and if I wasn't it would be a first!)

yesterday I had:

3 scrambled eggs with a wee bit of grated cheese (probably a tablespoon)
chorizo and boiled eggs salad
steamed haddock with pak choi and broccoli (dressed with oil)

snack: 2 boiled eggs mashed with 1 heaped teaspoon of hellmans mayo.

1.5 litres of water

oh, and, one little square of chocolate in a FUCKIT moment when I was stabby at bedtime Blush Blush Blush

I sabotaged myself didn't I? Angry

ToomuchheuchatendofHogmanay · 04/01/2013 12:36

Thanks mulledwinegless for recipes. That's dedication! Are you changing your name to sparkling watergless or some such for January???!! Wink

KoKoBear · 04/01/2013 12:37

BTW, can I just say how brilliant it is to have a low carb recipe section here in the MN recipe finder?!

So often I google for low carb recipes (and books) and then I read them thinking, "hang on, that's got loads of flour in it" or "that's covered in honey!" etc.

And, I'm also pleased that it's in UK measurements as so often low carb recipes are in cups and then also include unavailable ingredients.

So, nice one Thanks to whoever sorted that!

ToomuchheuchatendofHogmanay · 04/01/2013 12:42

waves madly to tooimmature and blackaffronted helloooooo, how lovely to have some other folk nearby! My local Lidl is Inverurie so not too far away!! Should have guessed from your name black that you were north of the border!!

winegless yippee we will have the first (and best) meet up I bet! Smile

rooobs one square is not total sabotage, just get back on the vibe today and it'll be fine! Really, stay with us and don't punish yourself!

PostBellumBugsy · 04/01/2013 12:49

Roobs, if it was just one tiny square, then no you haven't sabotaged yourself at all - BUT - don't do it again! Wink

Somewhere, we should list all the advantages of doing low carb, other than just weight loss, so I'll make a start (bear in mind, this is if you stick with it & push through any initial adjustments)

Less or no farting
Spots diminish
Hunger pangs go
You stop thinking about food
More energy
No post lunch saggy feeling

Doshusallie · 04/01/2013 12:58

Thanks winegless that's very kind

halfthesize · 04/01/2013 13:02

Thanks wine

PrincessSparkle86 · 04/01/2013 13:07

Im getting confused with the threads... Is this the main one for now? 😄

Rooobs · 04/01/2013 13:10

Yes Princess the other one got full and BIWI will start her bootcamp weekly threads on Monday 7th.

So this is just a continuation of the "New Year Low Carb Bootcamp" thread.

Does that make sense?

Stylelostinlabour · 04/01/2013 13:11

Quick Question?

Can I eat baby bel and how many?

Doshusallie · 04/01/2013 13:13

Yes Style - I often have a couple for a snack. I would say 2 a day really....??

Doshusallie · 04/01/2013 13:13

DH just made Stilton and Broccolli soup for lunch - I added extra stilton Grin - it is lush

Rooobs · 04/01/2013 13:14

[someone correct me if I'm wrong]

full fat baby bel are fine. Just don't go mad as dairy can stall some people as I understand it.

MulledwineGless · 04/01/2013 13:16

Cheers all - I was only copy and pasting and some recipes didn't have times or how many servings etc so may need tweaking.

MNHQ have emailed back and are having a look at moving the non low carb recipes. Could be a bit confusing for those who are just starting on the LC journey

Thanks for flowers but really no need Xmas Blush

MulledwineGless · 04/01/2013 13:17

PS toomuchheuch I feel a name change coming on but no chance of sparkling water!! I'm not doing the no alcohol thing completely. Got a 40th and my DSis wedding on Burns night

ToomuchheuchatendofHogmanay · 04/01/2013 13:20

I need a new name for January now too! All suggestions on a LC theme welcome, folks!

NoveltySlippers · 04/01/2013 13:28

Erk! First eating out crisis.

Am in a Subways and have just gone for the meatballs which I'm eating without the bread baguette. (8 meatballs)

Highly processed I know, and probably full of sugar.... Do you think I've done much damage?

(On the plus side, have now finished and feel so much lighter having not eaten the bread!)

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 04/01/2013 13:31

You should be fine, Novelty - just keep your carbs low for the rest of the day and drink plenty of water.

It's all part of learning how to incorporate LC into your day-to-day life. Sadly, eating when you're out and about isn't always easy! But at least you didn't eat the bread Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/01/2013 13:40

Well done on the recipe wine!

How about GlessWineMoreWater or JustOneSmallGless?

OP posts:
NoveltySlippers · 04/01/2013 13:44

Yes, I felt (relatively) virtuous rejecting the bread! (But importantly....didn't even feel deprived!) Smile

sybilfaulty · 04/01/2013 13:52

I love JustonesmallGless Smile. Great name.

Big salad here. Now off to watch HSM with kids before their friends arrive.

Bessie123 · 04/01/2013 13:54

Help. I just want sugar, sugar, sugar. I am on day 3, will I get over this soon?

Btw, don't try that braised cabbage recipe with Kale - disgusting.

Kale wasn't on the veg list but i assumed it is ok..?

littlemissstan · 04/01/2013 14:09

I'm so in, something must be done about this extra 3 stone that is following me about. And I have a wedding dress to get into! A friend and I have already agree on no-sugar no-booze for January so it's not a terrible leap...

Someone mentioned Hellman's - in my no-sugar quest I have been searching high and low for mayo with no sugar in it, Hellman's does so I would have thought better to avoid? I eventually found one french brand in Waitrose. It might even be easier to make your own!

So today I had scrambled egg with chopped up ham for breakfast, and just now a big salad with lettuce, cucumber, a tomato, spring onion, mayo and some little cubes of cheddar. Meatballs tonight with shredded buttered cabbage instead of spaghetti!

Stupid question alert

Ok, so I admitted on the previous thread that I don't cook for myself and DP and we have lived on ready meals for a long long time.

I am trying to get my head around how much cooking\washing up you all do. I don't have that many pans. Well I do, but half are for what I cook for my DC as we have had cross contamination issues with foods that DD is allergic to being cooked in the same pan as stuff she can eat. And I also wash all their stuff by hand as our dishwasher is shit doesn't clean things very well. I do cook for them most days, but often batch cook so that on a daily basis it's just rice, or pasta or sausages etc.

We use a dishwasher for our stuff but may need to run it once every 2 or 3 days.

Anyway, assuming I'm an alien who has just landed in the kitchen, what would you suggest I need to do, to get into the whole cooking thing?

I have another stupid question coming up so apologies for this. I am so embarrassed thati don't know the answer. :(
