To continue chatting and preparing for the official start on 7th.

Rules and veg info can be found on the tabs on the old spreadsheet here.

morning all. Day 4 and all shakes and headaches are gone. I am slightly tired but better after 2 large glasses of water. Breakfast was greek yoghurt and half a glass of unsweetened soya milk.

The sugar cravings are gone, I am full and have a general feeling of well being- dont know how to explain it.

I also weighed myself this morning and I am 2 lbs down, making 7lbs in 4 days but that might also be because I am exclusively breastfeeding DS2.

This really works!!

FallingOver · 05/01/2013 13:51

Does anyone have any low-carb picnic suggestions? i'm going on a 7 mile hike tomorrow, with a picnic break half way. My husband will be feasting on crusty sandwiches followed by fruit and cookies, and I will be very jealous. I was thinking of making a vegetable frittata (minus potato and other not-so-good veg, of course) to have cold. But any other suggestions (esp for a treat-type thing) welcome!

Rooobs · 05/01/2013 13:57

ooh fallingOver food on the go is tough isn't it?

all I can think of is
(tandoori?) chicken drumsticks
(low carb) sausages
boiled eggs (with a packet of salt!)
erm...ham rolled up with boursin/philadelphia/mayo?

and Thanks too WillieWaggle for the spreadsheet. Though I have a question:

I've never used these kind of shared documents before.

Google has me logged in and shows my name at the top of the spreadsheet and then anonymous users are viewing it etc. So will I show up as Anonymous User or as my name?

BillComptonstrousers · 05/01/2013 14:09

Just thought of another nice dinner!
Split some pork medallions, stuff with feta cheese, then wrap in Parma ham. Finely slice some courgettes and fry in butter with chilli and garlic, then squeeze over some lemon and mint :-)

Doshusallie · 05/01/2013 14:10

Falling over - there's a recipe somewhere for veg frittata/muffins.....they would be good for a picnic. I will try to find it.

Rooobs · 05/01/2013 14:15

oh yes, IPD muffin type things!

or there's the IPD onion bhajis - you make a batter with eggs and ground almonds. add whatever spices/garlic you want, mix into sliced onions then fry.

I quite like these.

cathyandclaire · 05/01/2013 14:16

Kracken oh no I think it sounds more like you may have Norovirus (the Winter vomiting bug) Low carb shouldn't cause those kind of symptoms. It doesn't usually last more that 24-48 hours , fingers x
Wishing you a very speedy recovery (and remember to have lots of water to stay hydrated)

cathyandclaire · 05/01/2013 14:20

Thanks to Willie for stirling work on the spreadsheet, there are soooo many of us Shock Warburton's shares will crash!

7lbminigoals · 05/01/2013 14:26

Wow. Just wow! I cannot wait to get started!! Want to lose 7 stone. (Gulp)

Am using this weekend to familiarise myself with the do's and don'ts.... am lucky in that i dont have a sweet tooth :)

Lunch today
chicken mini-fillets fried in butter, cpl slices of ham, letuce, peppers, red onion. Tablespoon coleslaw and tbsp Hummous....

Already dumped the sugar from my coffee.

Just thinking would I need to avoid Hommous (ok cant spell the word) in the bootcamp phase.

That spreadsheet is fabulous Willieaggledagger!

littlemissstan · 05/01/2013 14:32

Just been shopping to stock up - my fridge looks AMAZING, and am sat having plate of avocado, tomato, mozzarella, cucumber, basil and spring onions with a little bit of olive oil - totally delicious.

My question: people who have done this before, what do you have for breakfast? Eggs and ham this morning for me, which is fine at home, but any suggestions for breakfast I can have at work which is what I usually do? Normally porridge or Weetabix but that's off the menu!

MsRinky · 05/01/2013 14:38

No to hummus I'm afraid.

I have mini frittatas at my desk for breakfast most days, make them in a silicone mini muffin tray. This weeks have been sausage, mushroom and thyme with Brie, next week I'm thinking salmon, courgette and dill.

becstarlightstarbright · 05/01/2013 14:43

Thanks WillieWaggledagger! Added my starting weight from yesterday when I started... Menu today so far:
B eggs and bacon
L chicken drumsticks, big green salad, mayonnaise, goats cheese, spring onion
D think it'll be an omelette with herbs and salad if I'm hungry...

becstarlightstarbright · 05/01/2013 14:46

littlemisstan I take individual pots of full fat Greek yoghurt to work for breakfast when I'm low carbing. Or a hard boiled egg. Love the mini frittata idea MsRinky!

PrincessSparkle86 · 05/01/2013 14:52

Thanks for all youre support re: the poxx... Defo no school for at least a week i think :( he hasnt moved from his room all day, ges got his moshi monster mag, plenty of colouring and drawing stuff and an endless supply of dvds!

Lunch was half a packet of prawns
Dinner will be 2 pork steaks with plenty of veggies... Might try and make a peppercorn sauce... Must look for a recipe!

I was really hungry last night so after dinner i had a chicken drumstick :) i daresay ill do the same tonight.

Kracken · 05/01/2013 14:59

Thanks cathy, feeling a bit better now but have had some crackers just to put something dry and plain in my stomach. Never mind, Monday can be my proper start day! Grin

My fancy new digital scales just arrived!

Willie, thanks so much for the spreadsheet Smile

janx · 05/01/2013 14:59

Just been to weigh myself in boots as I have no scales at home.. Took my coat off but wondered what was realistic to take off weight for clothes and boots? Am on phone so can't underline that.

DharmaBumpkin · 05/01/2013 15:15

janx I have found the best thing to do is wear similar weight clothes each time you weigh yourself, and just leave the weight as is. After all it's the loss we're focusing on, not the weight per second.

7lbminigoals · 05/01/2013 15:15

Thanks MsRinky! I love your idea of the mini-fritatta too

DharmaBumpkin · 05/01/2013 15:15

*per se

GuyMartinsSideburns · 05/01/2013 15:18

I was feeling so awesome this morning but now Im really feeling like crap Sad mentally. Like Im having a bit of a slump. Im having a coffee with milk that I shouldnt be having as Ive had my 2 already today. My head feels a bit niggly, and I really dont want to eat so will have to force something down later.

Hoping I pick up as Ive got a couple of friends coming round later for drinks, Im hoping I'll be fine with sticking to red wine and drinking a load of water alongside.

Trying2bMindful · 05/01/2013 15:19

Guy, I feel the same. Was okay this morning (day 4) but suddenly headache has returned, lacking in energy, feel a bit blue. Enjoy the wine! Envy

PromQueen, I'm no expert but I think seeds and pulses etc are quite carby. I'm sure it hasn't undone everything though!

GuyMartinsSideburns · 05/01/2013 15:36

Lucy - sorry you're feeling the same. Im on day 5 so maybe its the stage we're at. Im hoping I dont jeopardise myself too much with the wine but I'll go steady, and I reckon a good laugh is what I need. Hope you pick up soon Smile

MulledwineGless · 05/01/2013 15:39

Trying2bmindful - love the NC

littlemisstan - Breakfast at work
Greek yoghurt
Leftovers from night before
Ham or salami rolled up with Philly in
Boiled egg with dollop of mayo or Boursin (although quite smelly to eat if you are in an office environment!!)
Cooked sausages

Houmous is pretty carby so no to bootcamp but once you are at goal weight then its about reintroducing more carby food until you know what you can tolerate without putting on weight/feeling rubbish.

Seeds are a no go on bootcamp unless you are vegetarian. However they aren't full of sugar so you won't kick in your sugar addiction!

LucyvFood and Guy - make sure your potassium levels are up. Losalt in food, avocado, Bovril etc etc. Take paracetamol if you have a headache.
These pesky carbs have been attacking your body for all these years and your body is in withdrawal. Another glass of water will help. I know you will feel like you are sloshing and BFF with the loo but I promise you will feel brilliant once first few days are over
