Morning all,

Are tomatoes really that bad? I love them. I've only just realised how many I eat and how many of my sauces are tomato based. I prefer them to cream :(

Traditionally, weekends are my downfall. This one's okay because it's just after Christmas, but normally I feel the need to 'reward' myself at the weekend. Does anyone have any tips to overcome this?

PrettyPirate · 05/01/2013 09:56

Morning fellow losers!

I did promise myself not to weigh until Monday but it's been difficult to resist - this morning I'm down 2 kg! That's in five days. It feels really good!!

I will start proper bootcamp on Monday, so far I have allowed myself a glass of wine and yesterday I had bit of cake, friend was over and she'd made some. Today DH is going to make his famous risotto, so I'm so having some of that! I'm sort of living like I would after the bootcampSmile I will be good from Monday, promise!!

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 09:56

Celeriac makes lovely soup - it has a fabulous texture.

Re the ketostix - if you're drinking plenty of water then you will only ever see 'trace' showing up. If they go dark pink/purple, it actually indicates that you're not drinking enough!

That's good plan! I do enjoy eating cakes though. Too much.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 05/01/2013 10:06

LucyVFood - it depends what you mean by 'bad'! They can be quite carby, but they are also, of course, very good for us. Like everything else, as long as you're mindful about what you're eating, then you can still eat them/eat tomato-based sauces.

Perhaps it might be a good idea for you to work out the carb count of your meals one day, and just check how many carbs the tomatoes are contributing?

Also, a tip - I have found that Sainsbury's Basics cartons of chopped tomatoes are lower in carbs than their tinned alternative - they are 12g carbs per 400g carton, compared with 16g carbs per 400g tin.

frenchfries22 · 05/01/2013 10:11

Ah i think i have made a mistake and eaten quite a few chewing gum today - is this really bad? If so will have to bring a tooth brush to work cannot stand the fuzzy mouth feeling and not so lovely breath!

BillComptonstrousers · 05/01/2013 10:21

Ok, a couple of things

Chicken breast stuffed with Philly and wrapped in Parma ham.
Broccoli soup made with broccoli, stock, garlic and a blob of ff Greek yogurt (for a snack)

Both of these are ok aren't they?

Is there a list anywhere of all the foods we can eat rather than just the veg?

MrsHerculePoirot · 05/01/2013 10:27

Bill - there is a tab on the spreadsheet of allowed foods (link in OP). Shout if you get stuck.

Also your food sounds fab!

frenchfries - 97g sounds enormous for what you have listed. What's in the soup? The food all sounds fine - can't understand why your carb count is so high.

MFP lists the carbs for each part of your meal - does anything seem especially high?

ToomuchheuchatendofHogmanay · 05/01/2013 11:18

lucyvfood what is "reward"? Eating healthy, clean, LC food that will do your body, skin, nails good and help you lose weight, have more energy and enjoy long term health benefits?

Or "reward" yourself with processed crap that is full of sugar, chemicals, additives that will leave you hungry, bloated, tired, grumpy, craving more crap? Is that a reward? I don't think so.

Try to change your thinking about food as a reward. Can you treat yourself with some time to yourself, a nice bath, a book, a walk, getting your nails done, whatever floats your boat really, but is not connected to food?

ToomuchheuchatendofHogmanay · 05/01/2013 11:21

frenchfries that count seems absurdly high for what you have listed? I don't use MFP so not much help but def seems wrong. Hope someone more knowledgable about MFP will be along soon. Or just chuck MFP and stick to the bootcamp rules and trust it will be fine!

hurricanewyn · 05/01/2013 11:27

Completely off topic, but what's heuch toomuch?
